Boeing Rolls Out First 777 at IncreasedProduction Rate

Boeing (NYSE: BA) has rolled out the f irst 777 to be built at the increased production

rate of 8.3 per month, or 100 airplanes per year. The airplane is a 777 Freighter that

w ill be delivered in February to Korean Air.

The CIS: increasing

opportunities for regional

airplanes

Practically on the eve of 2013

the CIS aviation regulatory

authority - the International

Aviation Committee (MAK) –

announced the successful

completion of the certif ication

process of the Brazilian E-190-

195 and Bombardier 700 series

thus allow ing these aircraft the

entrance to the Russian market.

The announcement came

surprisingly fast after the

certif ication of CF34-8

(CRJ700/E-175) and CF34-10E

(E-190) engines in September

2012, since there w as an

industry-w ide concern w hether

the airplanes w ould actually

receive the approval any time

soon, mainly due to the Russian

Government’s protectionism over

its latest SSJ100 aircraft.

How ever, after the unfortunate

accident at Mount Salak

(Indonesia), it seems that

Russian top off icials have

noticeably devaluated their

aspiration for w hat w as once

considered to be the hope of the

entire national aviation industry.

Follow ing the SSJ100 crash, the

Administration of the President of

the Russian Federation off icially

declared that it had put on hold

any considerations w ith regard

to SSJ100 introduction to the

presidential f leet. And although

the off icial investigation

concluded that the accident had

not been caused by any

technical failure, the

Administration has yet to renew

talks w ith the manufacturer.

How hard it is to hide an

entire industrial complex

How hard is it to hide an entire

industrial complex such that it

w ouldn’t be possible to spot it

from the air? Well, it’s not an

easy task, but still possible

nonetheless. Actually, it w as

already achieved once in

California, USA.

During World War II, the US army

decided it w as necessary to

hide the entire Lockheed

Burbank Aircraft Plant, w hich at

the time w as manufacturing

military aircraft. This w as

commissioned in order to prevent

Japanese air intelligence from

targeting the object, staving off a

possible air attack. The object

w as strategically vital, so no

means could be deemed

excessive.

Locatory.com: Soaring to

new heights: The rise of the

global rotorcraft market

In the scope of both civil and

military aviation, the global

helicopter market is set to

maintain the tenacious grow th it

has experienced over the past

f ive years. Indeed, current

forecasts suggest that by 2017

the industry w ill be w orth an

estimated $24.7 billion.

Underlying the surge in demand

for new rotorcraft has been the

broadened appetite for helicopter

use in various grow th sectors of

the global economy. Moreover,

the replacement cycles of aging

helicopter f leets are being

propelled by rising levels of

disposable income in emerging

markets. For expanding and

new ly established helicopter

operators, ensuring the effective

long-term service of rotorcraft

w ill require, among other factors,

revised approaches to parts

supply management.

Based on the forecasts of the

existing Rolls Royce 10-year

helicopter market outlook, a total

of 16,970 turbine rotorcraft

deliveries w orth $140 billion are

anticipated by 2020, including

10,900 for civil application and

6,070 for military use. Driving

these orders are enhanced civil

market fundamentals and a

grow ing call by the w orld’s

defence organisations for the

vertical lif t capability afforded by

helicopters. Precisely, recent

years have seen a stronger

dependency on helicopters for

use in offshore oil and gas

operations, emergency medical

services (EMS) and by law

enforcement agencies. In

addition, w hat has

conventionally been an industry

focused on the industrialised

nations of Europe and North

America has begun to undergo a

shift in its customer base, w ith

the Asia-Pacif ic region expected

to dominate expanding sales

figures over the next f ive years.
