Energy Flow          BLOCK:          How is energy passed from organism to organism on Pandora? Read the following information to construct a food web based upon the rainforest ecosystem of Pandora.

1. The primary source of energy on Pandora is its solar system’s two stars, Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B. There is evidence that the plant life is photosynthetic.

2. The Na’vi are omnivores, living off of the bountiful life of Pandora. The will eat the Utu mauti, Banana Fruit, as well as hunt the Hexapede which is a deer-like creature.

3. The Warbonnet, is a fern like plant and is eaten by Hammerheads, Hexapedes and a species of insect.

4. A species of forest bird has adapted its appearance to look similar to the Warbonnet plant allowing it to easily feed upon the insects that would otherwise eat the Warbonnet plant.

5. The Thanators are the apex predators. 6. The Prolemuris, lemur-like creatures, live up in the canopy of the rainforest and eat

Banana Fruit. 7. Viperwolves hunt in packs for such animals like the Direhorses and Hexapede. If

possible, they will attack young or sick Hammerheads. 8. Direhorses feed upon the nectar of flowers, such as the Warbonnet, and tree bark and

shrubs.
