Remember, TERM is a seminar for believers to learn about evangelism and discipleship. It is not an evangelistic outreach.

Printed Media

1. Brochures/Posters (printed by church) The brochures provide details of the event. They can also be used as posters; best used in high traffic locations such as event

boards, on the main doors of the church, outside the church office, and so forth. They can also be handed to others as invitations.

2. Bulletin Inserts (printed by church) – These black and white, half-sheet inserts provide the congregation with reminders and details about the seminar.

3. Grasp the Vision – This gives a generic background of the ministry of GoodSeed. It is helpful for explaining the ministry to those who have never heard of GoodSeed before.

Digital Media

1. Video Trailer – A two-minute clip introducing the event. (Downloading rather than streaming is recommended.)

2. PowerPoint Slide – Can be displayed during a platform announcement or included in the rotating announcements at the beginning of the service.

3. Social Media – Potentially one of the fastest, far-reaching means of sharing the event. It can be done through the church’s social media page or through the point person, volunteers or any other person familiar with social media.

Plan your Communication

Below you will find a series of suggestions for announcements and prayer. Please feel free to adapt the plan to best suit your church’s needs.

There are a series of five suggested Sunday morning announcements on which TERM can be promoted. The announcements are sequential; however, they do not have to be consecutive. For example, they may be done over a span of up to 12 weeks before the seminar, rather than 5 weeks in a row.

There is also a list of prayer suggestions that accompany the announcements. They can be distributed to your care groups, prayer teams and individuals that gather on a regular basis. Prayer is essential. Philippians 4:6

They all share a common goal, but each announcement highlights a specific key point.

An Event is Being Hosted by ___________.

Good morning. I am excited to share that this coming (Date & Place of Seminar) will be hosting a GoodSeed TERM Seminar.

What does TERM stand for?

o TERM is an acronym for The Emmaus Road Message, which comes from Luke 24 when, following his resurrection, Jesus appeared to two men traveling from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Here, Jesus taught his followers from the Old Testament about the things that had been accomplished by his death, burial and resurrection.

o The significance of the cross and the tomb and why the Messiah died was not clear to his followers until he taught them using the entirety of Scripture.

o At TERM, participants are taught how to use the same chronological approach to evangelism and discipleship as demonstrated by Christ himself.

There is no cost for this seminar. GoodSeed wants to bless us by making the seminar available at no charge. This also means that there will be no cost for materials.

We at GoodSeed are praying this way:

Thank you Lord for your grace poured out for us. Lord, may we here at (Name of Church) , use this upcoming seminar as an opportunity for us to grow to a deeper understanding of the gospel as a foundation to a more effective and fruitful evangelism. Lord, we look to you to ready our hearts to be equipped and encouraged to continue praying for open doors with family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. We ask Lord, for wisdom in fostering friendships and relationships with those placed in our path, for your namesake.

Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak. Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. Colossians 4:2-6 NASB

Goal: To have people realize their mandate to share the gospel and that understanding the gospel is foundational to effective evangelism and discipleship.

Mark Your Calendars

Please take a moment to pause and reflect on a few questions:

o When was the last time you shared the gospel with someone who does not understand the Bible?

o How often do you even try to share the good news with others?

o When was the last time you prayed for an opportunity to share the gospel?

o Are you taking the time daily to grow in your understanding of the Bible?

These are things that all believers in Christ are called to do. We are to go into our world where God has placed us and share the gospel.

As you know, our ever-changing world is filled with vague morality and clashing worldviews. Amidst all this fog, we need an understanding of the biblical message that will provide stability in our faith and a path forward to sharing the good news with others.

I just want to remind you of the seminar that we announced ____ weeks ago that is being hosted by (Church and date). This seminar is called TERM which stands for The Emmaus Road Message which comes from Luke 24. I encourage you to look up that passage.

This seminar is a time to deepen our understanding of the gospel; a clear understanding is foundational to effective discipleship and evangelism. It is a time to strengthen our faith and build confidence to share the Bible’s life-changing message with the people in our lives.

Matthew 13:19-23:

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road. The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away. And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.” NASB

Lord, we know that a less than clear gospel message can lead people to believe they know the truth of God’s plan for salvation, causing some to assume they have all that they require and there is no more need to investigate the biblical message any further.

The apostle Paul says in Ephesians 6:19, “Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel for which I am an ambassador in chains.” NIV

Encourage to attend:

o I encourage you to start thinking about the people in your world who don’t know the Lord. If you already have a list of those people, pray for them, pray for opportunities.

o I would really like to encourage all of you to consider attending this seminar. As a church, we will all benefit and be encouraged and equipped to reach out to our world.

Encourage to invite others and check out the website:

o (Hold up insert.) Please take the time to check out GoodSeed’s website that is on your insert. Please invite others to come and join as well.

o Lord, would you place upon our hearts and minds the eternal matters of the lost? Prepare our hearts to be challenged by the content of the TERM Seminar, and how we can apply it to our lives.

o You know Lord, we need not look any further than to our families, to our friends, neighbors and co-workers, to find many that need you. We ask that you broaden our vision to our community at large; to those who we do business with and those we rub shoulders with on the bus, or perhaps on the soccer pitch. Challenge us we pray.

Father God, we come to you with thanksgiving for your amazing grace and we ask today that you would bring a resolve in our minds and hearts that sharing the good news would truly become a life style for us all.

Lord, we need your insight into the story of the resurrected Jesus, as He taught on the road to Emmaus; to bring us understanding as to his identity and his history.

Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight. They said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?” And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem… Luke 24:31-33 NASB

Highlight: Communicate the needs that every believer has in common when it comes to sharing our faith – equipping and encouragement.

Personalize the Need

Good morning. I’d like to remind you about GoodSeed’s TERM Seminar that (Name of Church) will be hosting on (Date and Time).

Please, for a moment, think of one person who to the best of your knowledge, doesn’t know the Lord. Maybe it’s someone who you have been praying for at work, at the store, at school or a family member.

Now, if you were to find yourself talking with that person and the conversation turned to spiritual matters, he or she might say:

“That’s fine for you, but I’m following my own path.” Or…

“Are you saying that Jesus is the only way to God?” Or…

“Isn’t the Bible full of errors? Of all the religions, how do you know that you’re right?” Or…

o Objections aren’t easy to answer. The thought of how people might respond makes us fearful about sharing the gospel - especially with those whom we know.

o Instead of trying to be ready with an answer for every objection, or relying on short answers, the TERM Seminar will equip you to share the gospel with those God brings along your path - with confidence and in a way that makes sense.

Close in prayer:

o Paul tells us in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…” NIV

o Lord, we want to trust you as Paul did, knowing that we can never be shamed by the good news and knowing in our hearts that the gospel will never let us down. Eliminate our fears, we pray.

Lord, may we be ever mindful that it is you at work through us.

We pray that even those who may be unsure of their need for such teaching might step out in faith and be equipped through God’s word.
