Monday saw the first of our star author visits for this year at Hamstel Junior School. Our star authors always send a buzz of excitement around the school and help us to develop the children’s passion and love for reading. Do have a look on our school website for photos of Sophie Green’s visit. The Hamstel Firework display take place on Tuesday 5
th November 2019 - it would be great to see as many families as possible join us for this spectacular
event and take the opportunity to support the school. Tickets will be on sale in advance during next week’s Learning Conversations - the Infant School will be selling tickets after school during their book fair. Tickets will also be available on the evening. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this year’s Harvest Festival. Our school council did a great job of displaying the food ready for our special Harvest assembly. We held our first Parent Forum of this academic year yesterday; it was wonderful to have this opportunity to work closely with parents. The minutes from this meeting will be on the website shortly .
Snacks
Our reading hut on the upper school playground is now officially open! Children in all year groups now have access to their very
own mini library during lunchtime play. Click here to view photos of the new reading hut.
Our children are allowed to bring a healthy snack into school to enjoy at playtime - a piece of fruit and / or a carton of juice is ideal. Please be aware that children cannot take their water bottles onto the playground - we ask that these remain in class. Water fountains are available on the playground for children to use.

School Council Well done to our newly elected school council. Elections took place in every class in the school when the children
voted for one of their peers to represent them on the school council. Our school council works hard over the year to
help to make the school even better. Click here to see this year’s school council.
Tickets for our Fireworks Display will be on sale at Learning Conversations next week. Please
Fireworks - 5th Nov
Harvest Festival Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Harvest Festival. We collected a huge amount of food which was gratefully received by Southend Food Bank. The
school council did a great job helping to display the food donated ready for our school’s Harvest Festival. Click here to view photos.
Star Author - Sophie Green
Book Fair Thank you to everyone who visited the Book Fair last week. An
amazing £953.55 was spent over the three days earning the
school £572 commission to spend on new books for the library.
It was great to welcome Sophie Green, this year’s first star author, to the school on Monday. Well done to all our competition winners
who were treated to a special lunch with Sophie. Click here to view photos of the day.
