City & Guilds Technical Qualifications

1. Learner eligibility The Autumn examination series is only available for learners who

• Received a Teacher Assessed Grade (TAG) but wish to have another opportunity to improve their result; or

• Were eligible for a Teacher Assessed Grade (TAG) ie registered learners who were scheduled to take an assessment between 01 August 2020 and 31 August 2021 but did not receive a Teacher Assessed Grade (TAG).

Learners are not eligible to take the autumn assessments if they are due to take their first assessment in spring or summer 2022 i.e. this is not to be to be used as an early assessment opportunity.

2. Exam bookings window The window for making exam entries for eligible learner is 01-17 September 2021. Bookings should be made through the Walled Garden as normal. Any assessment components which have no entries by the below entry deadlines will not be available this autumn • Level 3 – 10th October • Level 2 – 24th October For any entries made after these dates we will contact you and may ask you to withdraw them. The next opportunity for learners to take an exam will be Spring 2022. We will only provide paper-based exams for the autumn series. An evolve (on-screen) option will not be available.

3. Exam Autumn 2021 timetable guidance The timetable is listed by industry area. These are dated exams and are available only as paper-based exams. All exams must be invigilated according to the JCQ Instructions for conducting examinations. Level 2 candidates are allowed only two sittings of any particular exam (an initial sitting, and one re-take opportunity). Level 3 candidates are allowed only three sittings of any particular exam (an initial sitting, and two re-take opportunities). A Teacher Assessed Grade (TAG) grade submission, or a Centre Assessed Grade (CAG), does not count as an exam sitting.

Starting times of dated exams Each dated exam must be taken on the day and at the time shown on the timetable. The published starting time of all exams is either 9.30am or 1.30pm. Candidates who finish the exam early must remain under supervision until 10.30am for morning exams and 2.30pm for afternoon exams.

Centres may delay the starting time of an exam within the scheduled session without notifying City & Guilds but candidates must be supervised from 10.00am for morning exams or 2.00pm for afternoon exams. Candidates taking more than one exam in a session should take these consecutively. A supervised break may be given between the exams taken consecutively at the discretion of the centre. In exceptional circumstances where the size of the cohort means that it is not possible for all candidates to sit the exam at the same time, centres may split the cohort with some of the cohort sitting the exam later than the published time, on the same day. The security of the exam must be maintained at all times. Candidates taking the exam at the later time must be supervised at all times, and must have no contact with those candidates who have already taken the exam. The exam must be undertaken on the same day as the scheduled exam timetable. 4. Moderated assessments Learners that were due to complete the synoptic assignment by 31 August 2021 but did not have sufficient evidence for all the tasks, can complete the assignment in Autumn 2021 and may use evidence generated prior to 1 September 2021. This will not be a TAG but will go through the normal internal marking and external moderation process. Learners that received a Teacher Assessed Grade (TAG) but wish to have another opportunity to improve their result are allowed an opportunity to re-sit the same synoptic assignment in the autumn, but it will be subject to the normal internal marking and external moderation process.

5. Moderated assessments booking and submission window The window for making synoptic assignment bookings for eligible learners is 01-17 September 2021. Bookings should be made through the Walled Garden as normal. All evidence for synoptic assignments must be provided by 5th November. Evidence provided after this date may mean results will not be available by published results release dates.
