Autumn Attractions in Colorado
Most people visit Colorado during the winter for the skiing or during the summer for rafting or
hiking, but Colorado is also an incredible place to visit during the fall. Traffic and crowds
decrease substantially after school starts and families who have been enjoying summer road
trips have headed for home, and the weather is generally quite good this time of year. Following
are three suggestions for autumn visitors to Colorado:
Rent a Mountain Cabin
Hiking, biking, fishing, boating, and simply relaxing in a wilderness area that features abundant
natural beauty are all activities that can be enjoyed in Colorado during the fall. Lodging prices
are generally down because autumn in considered the off season, so it's possible to save
substantial sums on vacation travel during that time. There might be a slight chill in the air
during the day, evenings may be frosty, and there will possibly be a dusting of snow on the
mountaintops, but many people prefer that to deep summer conditions.
Attend the Colorado Symphony
The music doesn't stop when summer comes to an end. The Colorado Symphony puts on many
fine performances during the fall months. You can listen to Beethoven and Broadway in
September, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, more Beethoven, and Mahler in October, and Mozart and
Dvorak in November. The Colorado Symphony isn't just all about classical music, though. World
music such as drumming is also well-represented in this venue, and you can expect to find
Broadway and Animaniacs here in the fall as well.
Watch the Aspens Change Color
New England isn't the only place where the trees have fabulously vibrant autumn foliage.
Colorado's famed aspen trees turn a bright shade of glimmering gold. This is particularly
attractive when a slight wind is blowing and the leaves are quaking. There are many great
places near Denver to see the autumn leaves. For instance the "Oh My God" road is less than
an hour from Denver and besides featuring an abundance of aspen trees, visitors will see ghost
towns, cemeteries, and other remnants of the Colorado gold rush.
There are many other fun things to do in Denver during the fall, including sampling the city's
many fine breweries, restaurants, and night life.
