Paris Region drivesthe world’s automotive industryParis Region offers a unique development environment for international companiesin the automotive sector :

• It is one of the few regions of the world to have two major global manufacturers: PSA Peugeot Citroën and Renault.

• Most of the world’s main car part manufacturers are also located in Paris Region.

• And finally, major corporations, SMEs and state-owned R&D laboratories have teamedup to create the Mov’eo competitiveness cluster. One of the world’s very first competitiveness clusters, Mov’eo represents 70% of French automotive R&D.

Two of the world’s top 10 car manufacturersbased in Paris RegionWhile Paris Region remains a major industrial centre with the factories in Flins (Renault), Poissy and Aulnay-sous-Bois (PSA Peugeot Citroën), the region is also home to Renault and PSA Peugeot Citroën’s global decision-making centres and has become their leading research hub. In addition to two prestigious design sites – Renault’s Technocentre in Guyancourt and PSA Peugeot Citroën’s Centre of Technology and Design in Vélizy – both manufacturers have established numerous other R&D sites, testing centres and crash-test centres in the region.

The largest automotive suppliersare located in Paris RegionThe car manufacturers rely on the presence of a very diverse network of part manufacturers and suppliers, both French (particularly Valeo and Faurecia) and international (Bosch, Johnson Controls, Denso, Lear, Delphi, etc).

INVENTING TOMORROW’S MOBILITYMov’eo, a leading French competitiveness cluster, has the aim of making private cars and public transportation safer for people and the environment. As a competitiveness cluster focused on automotive and public transport R&D, Mov’eo is developing innovative and collaborative projects to strengthen the global competi-tiveness of the cluster's companies and regions. Established in 2006, Mov’eo now has more than 290 members and has accredited more than 215 R&D projects, 112 of which received government grants amounting to €190 million.

A MAJOR TECHNOLOGICAL AND SCIENTIFIC POTENTIALParis Region’s expertise, a deep talent poolThanks to the diversity of its laboratories and skills centres, Paris Region is able to meet the needs of companies seeking to develop cleaner and more intelligent vehicles in a very fertile scientific and technological environment. The scientific knowledge available to the automotive industry in Paris Region boosts the performance and competitiveness of the companies that have chosen to set up here. Further-more, Paris Region’s highly skilled and creative workforce makes it a particularly appealing location for design facilities and many engineering service companies.

France has the most advantageous R&D Tax Credit in EuropeThe research tax credit is a corporate tax incentive based on R&D expenditure incurred by any company located in France, regardless of sector or size.

A TESTING GROUNDFOR ELECTRICAND HYBRID VEHICLESAutolib’, a major car-sharing initiative in Europe 3000 electric vehicles will be deployed in Paris and the inner suburbs. More than 1000 recharging points will be available, including 700 in Paris.

SAVE, a full-scale trial of the electric vehicleFor one year from September 2010, consumers, professio-nals and local government employees will try out 100 electric Renault-Nissan Alliance passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. They will be able to access charging points at home, at the workplace, in car parks and on public highways. The Renault Nissan Alliance and EDF plan to use the full-scale trial to test the usage and performance of their future electric vehicles.“PSA Peugeot Citroën aims to be at the forefront of automotive

products and services. This ambitious plan relies on our 3 R&D centres located in Paris Region employing 8,000 people working on innovative technologies to come up with a virtuous car adapted to the needs and habits of individuals.”

Philippe VarinChairman of the Managing Board of PSA Peugeot Citroën

“When you’re a major player in the automotive industry, it’s impossible not to be in Paris Region because that is where all the purchasing department decision-makers are located. Being near two global manufacturers, PSA Peugeot Citroën and Renault, is essential, particularly for a development business such as ours.”

Thierry ServouseManaging Director of Magna Steyr France

“We chose to set up our business in Paris Region because it is home to most of the decision-making centres of the major companies likely to need our services.”

Pierre PourveurDeputy Director of Belgian company Key Driving Competences

“We opened our office in Paris Region in 1993 when we started car audio development for PSA Peugeot Citroën. Since then, we have expanded our activities in Paris Region, not only in engineering but also in sales and marketing. Our customer base is also expanding, and today we are dealing with PSA Peugeot Citroën, Renault, Nissan, Honda, Jaguar and so on.”

Takeshi Watanabe Vice President of Clarion Europe SAS

“When IAV GmbH, a leading engineering company for vehicle development decided to open its French subsidiary in 2007, it was obvious we needed to come to Paris Region, to get close to the two French leading car manufacturers, and be part of the outstanding network of Tier One and suppliers. Moreover IAV France, member of the Mov'eo automotive competitive cluster benefits from the Region's network, which brings together scientific expertise as well as institutional and financial decision-making centres.”

Thomas Roelle President of IAV France

An innovative region

“Historically, Paris Region is the birthplace of Renault, but we are also preparing for the future here. With our Research & Engin- eering centre, our Flins plant which will become the main assembly site for the electric vehicle and potentially Europe’s biggest battery manufacturing plant, Paris Region will remain a centre of excellence for Renault and the future of the automotive industry.”

Carlos Ghosn Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Renault
