There are many integration solutions

▪ Open Source

▪ Coding

▪ Out of the box experiences

When choosing a solution

▪ Best not to choose on a single project

▪ Ensure the solution has all the capabilities

needed out of the box for future projects

▪ If not can be customised, extensible

▪ Choose a vendor with a long term strategy

▪ Integration is infrastructure

▪ 24X7

▪ Ensure the solution meets performance

requirements

▪ Are there 3rd Party requirements

▪ Hidden costs – Connectors, support, updates

App Connect investmentIBM has invested in development, design teams, supporting teams, field skills across IBM and Business Partners for 2 decades and continues to innovate and invest in the integration space.

.. We have a new release coming this year, currently in open beta.

Other IBM products and some 3rd party offerings are built on-top of IBM’s integration and many other technologies rely on IBM integration, such as IBM Financial Transaction Manager, Maximo, Safer Payments, Industry 4.0 solutions, Healthcare solutions, Stirling and many others.

IBM Integration is used for its reliability, performance on low spec hardware, comprehensive out-of-the-box capabilities and wide range of deployment options from on-prem, clouds, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, mainframes both z/OS zCX containers and IBM z/Linux & LinuxOne. Providing customers with a comprehensive range of deployment options across Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), Micro-services container deployments, managed containers Cloud Paks and Public Clouds

With the addition of App Connect Professional connectors for simple SaaS connectivity with App Connect Enterprise integration all part of the same licence, IBM Integration provides a very extensible solution for all industries

The open beta driver(s) can be downloaded from the following URL(s): https://ibm.biz/eXp-appcon-open-beta or https://bit.ly/eXp-appcon-open-beta ..

If automation has already been around for years

… So what’s new

… Before that let’s first take a look

at the key component for automation

Page 8: Automation and App Connect Enterprise - IBM

27.1 billion networked devices and connections by 2021

2.5 quintillion bytes of data generated daily

75 billion IoTdevices by 2025… 1/4 for Smart Cities

830 million connected wearable devicesby 2020

3.5 billion cellularIoT connectionsby 2023

45 billion cameras by 2022

By 2020, 1.7 MB of data will be generated for each person on Earth every second

Automation & Integration

Automation means many things in many different scenarios. BPM, RPA, AI, ML, Events, Integration. All play a part in automating and optimizing businesses, from automating development processes to business applications

Data is the key component to a business, automation with integration can make that data of more value

This is where integration

with better automation can

assist customers in getting

higher value from their data

Businesses know they have

a lot of data, but sometimes

forget they have the

potential to get higher value

from the data

Page 10: Automation and App Connect Enterprise - IBM

Quote from Garter - Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2020: Hyperautomation, March 2020

“Business executives are demanding a path to digital operational excellence.

The net result is tremendous pent-up demand for speed…of automation and integration. ”

Organizations need to rethinktheir integration strategy

- Automated

- Closed-loop

- Multi-style

Every integration must be:

© 2020 IBM Corporation 11

With AI, informed by real world operational data, to continuously improve integrations

To integrate faster and intelligently

Page 12: Automation and App Connect Enterprise - IBM

Lack of operational

visibility to improve

integrations

Traditional

approach of using

only one integration

style

Manual tasks

requiring expert

integration skills

Automated integrations, powered by AI, leveraging best practices and built-in reuse to eliminate the skills barrier

Closed-loop integration lifecycle that uses real-world, company specific, operational data using AI to identify issues and recommendations

Multi-style integration streamlines using different styles of integration together to deliver faster and better than a one-style-fits-all approach

Successful enterprises utilize AI and operational data to integrate faster and better…

Automation & Integration

• Allows users to implement completely automated tasks

and semi-automated tasks that require human monitoring

and actions

• Perform complex event processing such that event

condition or situation is detected across multiple instances

of flow run

• Users can implement flows that can correlate and

orchestrate events

• Users can implement actions that can send key

information and updates to directly users as smart

notifications

• Some of these notifications may have follow-on actions

for users to perform, which will trigger another set of

actions

AI powered Mapping Assist

14

Greatly increase the productivity of your team with AI that simplifies the integration process

• Ready to use - AI/ML algorithm is pre-trained to start working as soon as you do and continues to improve suggestions over time as it acquires behavioral knowledge from you

• Comprehensive - Mapping Assist considers all applications in a flow when offering mapping suggestions, and not just the prior node in a flow

• AI - Mapping Assist’s algorithm can provide suggestions not just for flat structures, but also for nested complex objects, arrays, and custom objects

• Private and secure - The AI model is deployed where your integrations run, IBM will never view or request to share any of your data

… So what’s new & coming

Page 16: Automation and App Connect Enterprise - IBM

16

The next phase of accelerating productivity by automating how apps are added to the flow

• Metadata rich - static and dynamically discovered metadata about your apps which includes relationships across various objects in those systems

• Assisted decisions - App Connect performs additional exploration in the connected systems to find recommendations what could help augment the flow design with needed information

• Automating flow build - Flow Assist recommendations then automate adding the required connector objects, action, transformation nodes, and patterns

Given we know that the user is taking data from MS Dynamics…

…we offer suggestions from other objects in the source system that are not yet on the canvas

WHY: “I have to integrate with legacy apps that don’t have APIs or source code”

WHAT: Add an RPA Connector allowing the Integration Cartridge to interact with legacy application that do not have APIs

HOW: RPA to scrape key details from the legacy application and provide new metadata to enable effective connectivity

RPA bots, chatbots and automation
