2014 EVENT OVERVIEW EVENT PROFILEDates: March 23 – 23, 2014(Sunday – Monday)

Venue: Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre

In response to exhibitor and visitor feedback and market research undertaken in February and March at 2013 Fairs, we consolidated previous events in to one for the first part of the year. Buyers and sellers still want a time and cost efficient event running in the period after Christmas, to top up supplies for the upcoming year.

Total Attendance: 1,943

Number of Exhibitors: 71

The Australian Jewellery Fair on the Gold Coast was the first major independent buying

trade event for 2014.

Consolidating what was previously two smaller events (Melbourne and Brisbane), the

Gold Coast provided a central location for suppliers and retailers to come together.

Whilst the host state Queensland delivered the bulk of attendance (69.5%), attendance

from interstate retailers increased by 9.4% from 2013, and there was an overall visitor

increase of 3% compared to Brisbane 2013, demonstrating that the Gold Coast

represents a location where business and pleasure or a family holiday can be mixed to

the benefit of all.

Attendance was consistent with previous years with the opening day holding the

greater volume of traffic on the show floor (70.6%) compared with Monday (29.4%),

and the fair enjoyed a total of 37.6% first time registrations.

Independently owned jewellery retailers, multi and chain store owners continue to be

the bulk of retailer buyers with a healthy compliment of manufacturers and jewellers.

The Jewellery Industry Awards were launched

in 2013, and with hundreds of nominations

received, the judges had a hard task to decide

on the winners. The very first Jewellery Industry

Awards presentation was run on Sunday

evening after the fair closed and the industry

acknowledged and celebrated a number of

winners in categories from best products,

suppliers, retailers through to reps.

With thanks to the Jewellers Association of

Australia, the three buying Groups; Leading

Edge, Nationwide and Showcase, and

all exhibitors, the Australian Jewellery Fair

would not continue at the high standard and

professionalism without your support and

contribution.

EVENT MARKETING ACTIVITIES

OFFICIAL EXHIBITION DIRECTORY

The 24-page exhibition directory, produced

by Jeweller magazine, was available to every

visitor, providing a valuable resource to

navigate the exhibition and more importantly

an essential post event resource to keep in

touch with exhibitors.

A co-ordinated and multi-faceted marketing campaign was conducted to promote the Gold

Coast fair, ensuring the event delivered a qualified audience.

TRADE MAGAZINE ADVERTISING

A schedule of advertising was placed in the

major trade publication, Jeweller magazine.

The campaign also included inserts tailored

to the NZ and Australian markets separately.

DIRECT MAIL

Direct mail was used extensively by the

event and included three unique mailings to

a database of approx 15,000 prospects on

each occasion:

• “You’re Invited” postcard

• “Save the Date” postcard

• 16-page Fair Preview & Registration Booklet

TRADE INVITATIONS

& INVOICE STICKERS

DL flyers, postcards and invoice/statement

stickers were printed for the use of exhibitors

to promote their attendance at the Fair.

Web banners were also made available

to be included on websites and email

communications.

EMAIL MARKETING

Regular email newsletters were sent to

prospective visitors each outlining specific

event initiatives and pointing back to the

event website for easy registration.

FAIR WEBSITE

The Gold Coast fair website was a

comprehensive resource for the event,

detailing exhibitor listings, amenities, Fair

attractions, links to accommodation bookings

and, most importantly, a portal to the NEW

online pre-event registration.

TELEMARKETING

A telemarketing campaign was conducted

in the final weeks prior to the fair, issuing

a personal invitation to attend the Fair. To

reinforce all the marketing, an SMS message

was sent on opening morning.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Each Fair initiative was released to the market

at large via the trade press. As a supporter of

the Fair, Jeweller magazine, both online and

in print, ran a wide-ranging preview of the

Fair in the months and weeks prior including

a comprehensive ‘Show & Tell’ covering the

majority of exhibitors.

THE DAILY NEWS

Each day of the Fair we emailed more than

7,000 potential visitors the Fair News – full

of info direct from the event. By making a

personal daily connection with visitors, they

saw the action ‘live’ from the Fair, and get

excited about visiting.
