About the Australian Instute of Internaonal Affairs (AIIA) In 2015 the AIIA was ranked the top think tank in Southeast Asia and the Pacific in the Global Go To Think Tank Index. The AIIA is an independent, non-profit organisaon seeking to promote interest in and understanding of internaonal affairs in Australia. The AIIA was formed in 1924 and remains the only naon-wide organisaon of its kind in Australia. The AIIA provides a forum for debate by arranging lectures, seminars and workshops for its members, but does not seek to formulate its own instuonal views. More than 200 events covering a range of issues in internaonal affairs are held across the country each year. Members may aend meengs held by other branches and use the facilies of the Naonal Office in Canberra. The Instute is one of a global network. Introductory leers can be given for networking and for arranging the use of facilies in similar instutes overseas. The AIIA publishes the Australian Journal of Internaonal Affairs covering internaonal polical, social, economic and legal issues. The journal is distributed six mes annually. In addion Australian Outlook is the AIIA’s naonal online showcase for high-quality analysis and comment on internaonal affairs. The AIIA has specific youth programs including careers fairs, internships and young professionals networks around the country. AIIA for WA Inc.

The Australian Institute of International Affairs for WA Inc. is the ideal forum for people who want to keep in touch with what is happening on the international stage. Expert guest speakers give lively and informative addresses followed by wide-ranging question-and-answer sessions.

Bursary In an initiative to encourage and support West Australian university students to become more “Asia-literate”, AIIA for WA Inc. established a ground-breaking bursary program in December 2011. Two $2,000 bursaries are awarded annually for educational experiences in an Asian country. Bursaries are advertised on the AIIA website and through the five WA Universities.
