Western Sydney University offers students relative proximity to the many sights of downtown Sydney, including the Sydney Opera House, Harbor Bridge and Darling Harbor, as well as Sydney area beaches. The Blue Mountains, which provide opportunities for hiking, camping and sightseeing, are only an hour’s drive west. Longer trips to Melbourne, Brisbane, Tasmania and New Zealand are also possible via train, plane or ferry.

Surrounding Area

Each of the WSU campuses offers slightly different accommodation options, ranging from fully furnished, self-catered, single rooms in halls of residence, to four bedroom villas or townhouses. Western Sydney University staff will assist students with housing arrangements, early accommodation applications are highly encouraged.

Housing

The Western Sydney University offers students a comprehensive range of activities, events, programs and services both on and off campus, plus a variety of student groups, clubs and societies help create a vibrant campus culture. Depending on the campus, students may find themselves in a bustling metropolis with a rich historic background, a multicultural city that’s abundant with parks and nature reserves, or a more peaceful rural community with Colonial era buildings. Each environment provides students with unique social opportunities. In particular, the Parramatta commercial and retail center boasts one of the largest shopping centers in the southern hemisphere with everything that a student might need, while a popular restaurant strip provides cuisine from around the world.
