This unit contains an assortment of learning overview opportunities

relating to Australia Day. It covers various age spans. Please browsethe document first and only print what you require for your children.The initial component (Research Lessons) is designed to be self

directed by a child that has some/beginning experience in computer useand research online..

Pages 2—8 have questions and links to external websites (pleaseperuse these yourself for parental approval). This component also

includes note booking pages, with two different line widths, dependingon the writing ability of the child.

Pages 9 & 10 have printable versions of popular Australian songs.

Pages 11—13 contain images used in this packet to print and colour.

Pages 14 & 15 can be used as 3 (or 4) part Montessori style cards.

Or can be used to put together a small informational booklet.

Pages 16—23 are copy work pages suitable for varying age groups.

Pages 24—27 are printable Aussie Slang Cards. Use as a game or amatching activity.

Page 28 is a Pin the beginning sound cards printable.

Page 29 & 30 are tracing pages for the beginning writer.

Pages 31— 33 are Do A Dot marker Alphabet Pages

Page 34 contains Australian Flag Size Sequencing.

1 What’s So Important About Australia Day Anyway

Visit the Australia Day website and read a little about theHistory of Australia Day and the significance of the date.

Print off the Notebook Page entitled, ‘The First Landing’ and writeabout why January 26th is an important day for Australia. Draw an

image of the first landing or raising of the first flag in Australia.

Visit the Kidcyber Website to find out about our National Emblems.

Print the Notebook Page entitled, ‘National Emblems’ and list some of

the details you found out about each of them.

3 If I were Prime Minister

The Prime Minister is one of the most important people in our coun-try. Visit the Parliamentary Education Office Website and find out alittle about the role of our Prime Minister.

Print off the page entitled, ‘If I Were Prime Minister’. What would

you do if you were the Prime Minister of Australia? Include adrawing depicting something you would do.
