AN UPDATE ON OUR FIJIAN VISITORS
Hey all,
Sorry about the delay in your latest update, I have just enjoyed 8 days away from these
confounded contraptions, and enjoyed every bit of it, anyway enough about me.
Per my 22nd update, Noa is going well, we broke him out of Hospital on the late afternoon
of the 23rd, where they are currently staying with the Fijian Pastor (Bulla & Wife Mere), and going by the sound
of their voices last night, enjoying themselves in a familiar environment, where they are staying for a few days
until the 1st.
When Pam and I spoke to them last night, Noa sounds just like his delightful little happy self. He is off to the
Hospital today for a check-up before Dr Croker goes on his 3 weeks leave.
As mentioned previously, at this stage we are assuming they will head back to Fiji prior to the 23rd January.
Will update more when I know more.
PS: Your see a very relieved face of Emele in the accompanying photo's :)

Dear friends at Rotary Club of Jerrabomberra Would you like to get directly involved in one of our work at the Treehouse?
The REACH Holiday Respite Program provides children with disabilities aged between 5 and 10 years with a
few fun days each school holiday. The program attendance is capped at 12 children. It is a very relaxed and
fun program for the children. We have many different activities such as cooking, yoga, music, arts and crafts,
face painting, indoor and outdoor play and for the first time this holidays we are having a day at the swimming
pool.
The REACH program allows the children to have time away from their families and to develop new friendships
away from home and school.
Volunteers are a big part of our program. It allows the children and staff members to experience the skills of
others.
The program runs for two weeks over the Christmas break at the Letchworth Centre, 28 Miller Street
Queanbeyan NSW 2620.
The dates are:
Week 1 Tuesday 10th January 9am to 2pm Wednesday 11th January 9am to 2pm Thursday 12th January 9am to 2 pm
Week 2 Tuesday 17th January 9am to 2pm Wednesday 18th January 9am to 2pm – Excursion to the Pool Thursday 19th January 9am to 2pm
If you are interested please let me know ASAP as I would need to organise immediately for you to have a
NSW Working With Children’s Check and a National Police Check.
Warm Regards
Caitlin Buxton

This week’s report by Jan…..
It was strange to be starting the Markets at 2.15pm. As usual there were lots of people around as we arrived. The first question before I
put my handbag down was “Where’s the ATM?” the next hundred questions were “Where’s the blueberry man? Both arrived eventually by 3pm. There were about 50% fewer stalls but all seemed to be doing well. Our takings were not too bad and everyone was happy and jolly.
The 3 Amigos ( Paul, Chris and Jan) had a great afternoon. Paul had put up the new little pergola out at the gate and Chris took a chair up there. Parking duty was a pleasant sit in the shade and the breeze. NOTE: Next markets on 14th Jan will need water and ice, but other stocks are ok.

OUR HISTORY
In 1998 the Rotary Clubs of Queanbeyan and Queanbeyan West Rotary decided to sponsor a new Rotary Club based in Jerrabomberra. Bill Lilley, John Snedden and Peter Jarvis from Queanbeyan West took on the joint roll of mentoring the development of the new club. (Peter Jarvis went on to become our Charter President).
Advertising for potential members began in March 1998. After a successful campaign, the Club was chartered on 18 November 1998 with 26 members.
Initial meetings were held at the Jerrabomberra General Store—the venue was very good until we grew in numbers. We then moved to the Jerrabomberra Community Centre for a few years, and we now meet at the Jerrabomberra Public School Staff Room, on Thursdays (6.15 for 6.30 pm).
(Charter) President Peter Jarvis ran competitions to select a name for our Club Newsletter and a design for the Club banner. There were some good and some not so good suggestions. Pam Spencer suggested the winning bulletin name ‘Jerraganda’ and David Stevens was the successful designer of our club banner. The design incorporated a goose and the windmill associated with the original entrance to the estate adjacent to the Community Centre. Both the Jerraganda and the Club logo have evolved to keep pace with modern times.
We have always been, and continue to be, a vibrant and fun loving club providing valued community service, both locally and internationally. Our motto is,
“Doing Good and Having Fun”
