Kangaroos…There are over 60 different types. They can hop very fast – 70 km/h. The joey is the baby kangaroo, which stays in the pouch.
Red Kangaroo…can reach 180 cm. A wallaby can be from 30 to 104 cm tall.
Koalas are very calm animals. They spend most of the day sleeping and are only awake and active for 2 hours. Their name means ‘no drink’ in the aboriginal language. They only eat Eucalytus leaves.
A kookaburra…is also called a laughing bird.
An Emu… is the second largest bird in the world after the ostrich. They run very fast and kick for defense. Up to 2 m tall.
A Platypus… is a semi-aquatic mammal (it lives in and out of water). It is made up of parts of many other animals: a duck's bill, a beaver's tail, an otter's feet - and it lays eggs!
