DESCRIPTIONThe Blue Mountains National Park is a large, World Heritage-listed national park occupying much of the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales, Australia. There are fabulous views from many vantage points and it is evident on a clear day why the Mountains received their name of "Blue", as the Eucalyptus shimmer in the distance, creating a hazy blue as far as the eye can see.

The legend is that three sisters: 'Meehni', 'Wimlah' and Gunnedoo' lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe. These ladies had fallen in love with three brothers from the Nepean tribe, yet tribal law forbade them to marry. The brothers decided to use force to capture three sisters causing a major tribal battle. While the sisters' lives in danger, a witchdoctor turned three sisters into stone to protect them from any harm. But when the battle was over, the witchdoctor himself was killed. As only he could reverse the spell to return the ladies to their former beauty, the sisters remain in their magnificent rock formation as a reminder of this battle for generations to come. 23. 24.
