What to Expect

Water Quality Tuberculation (iron oxide, discolored water,

rust)

Corrosion byproducts in pipes – iron oxide

deposits

Light yellow to dark brown temporary

discoloration

Cloudy/Whitish water

Drinking water naturally contains a certain

amount of dissolved air.

Air dissolved in water can result in tiny bubbles

similar to those in carbonated beverages.

Run your cold water tap for 5 to 10 minutes, the

water should clear.

If it doesn’t, call the 24-hour line at 703-228-6555

and a crew will be sent to flush the line.

Due to consistent compliance and results

below the Action Level, EPA requires Arlington

to sample only once every three years.

Next scheduled sampling will start June 2016

Per LCR sampling is required for specific

homes built between 1982 -1986.

Orthophosphate

Corrosion control added at the treatment Plant

Acts as a corrosion inhibitor by forming a

protective film on the interior of the pipes. This

film protects the pipe from the corrosive effects

of water

Arlington does not have lead pipes for water

distribution
