We seek to be an authentic community, on a journey together, sharing God’s love with everyone.

August 5th 2018

What are you hungry for? In our services we are currently studying a

great chapter from scripture, John 6. It starts with Jesus turning 5 loaves and 2

fish into a lunch for 5000 people. This wasn’t a symbolic meal. John says, they

ate as much bread and fish as they wanted. Must have been pretty good because

the next day they were hungry for more.

But Jesus said that the big lunch wasn’t just about filling people’s stomachs. It

was a sign to lead them to an understanding of what true food is, the food the

son of man will give, the food the son of man is himself, the food of life. They

needed to believe in Jesus, to hunger for Jesus, rather than just see Jesus as the

source of bread and fish.

Over and over Jesus declares that people find life as they believe in him. Near

the end of chapter 6 Jesus grossed them out by saying they needed to eat his

flesh and drink his blood. Jesus is saying he is as important to life as eating, he

is the one for whom we should deeply hunger. Wherever human hunger and

Jesus meet, there is life.

Notice from F&P Group

Our landscape planner has recently advised that due to current work commitments she is unable to assist us with finalising her garden design (inc. Retic) for the Church. This is unfortunate but we need to press on so we are looking to appoint a new landscape designer.

If anyone has a recommendation to make, please see one of the Group (me, Peter J, Ralph or Trevor)
