BL077-14 Installation, Replacement and/or Relocation of Stormwater Culverts, Pipes and Appurtenances

on an Annual Contract C1. CHANGE the bonding requirements to read: All suppliers must submit with bid, a bid bond, certified check or cashier's check in the amount of five

percent (5%) of $1,000,000.00. Failure to submit a bid bond with the proper rating will result in the bid being deemed non-responsive. Successful supplier will be required to meet insurance requirements and submit a Performance Bond and Payment Bond, each in the sum of $1,000,000.00. Insurance and Bonding Company should be licensed to do business by the Georgia Secretary of State, authorized to do business in Georgia by The Georgia Insurance Department, listed in the Department of Treasury's Publication of Companies holding Certificates of Authority as Acceptable Surety on Federal Bonds and as acceptable reinsuring companies. The bid bond, payment bond, and performance bond must have an A.M. Best rating of A-5 or higher.

All bonds should be submitted on forms provided by Gwinnett County and agencies providing bonds and insurance should provide proof that they meet the criteria outlined in the bid and contract documents.

MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

PART 1 – GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

A. This section defines the Pay Items of Work listed on the Bid Form and how payment shall be determined. Payment shall be made for each Pay Item based on the description in this section.

B. Bid Prices included on the Bid Form shall be full compensation for all materials, labor, equipment, tools, construction equipment and machinery, heat, utilities, mobilization, demobilization, transportation, taxes, overhead, markup, incidentals and services necessary for the execution and completion of the Work in the Contract Documents to be performed under this Contract. For the Work described, the allowance and unit price, actual used and installed quantities of each Pay Item shall be measured in the field and certified by the Engineer and/or GCDWR upon completion of construction in the manner set forth for each item in this and other sections of the Specifications. Payment for all items listed on the Bid Form will constitute full compensation for all Work shown and specified to be performed.

C. The Contractor shall assist and fully cooperate with GCDWR to determine proper measurement and payment for each item providing complete and reasonable backup documentation as requested by GCDWR to substantiate payment due.

D. Any item of work shown on the Drawings or called for in the Specifications but not specifically enumerated for separate measurement and payment in the various project bid items shall considered incidental to the project. All incidental work shall be included in the various contract bid items as determined by the Contractor.

E. Any and all work required to complete the Work called for in the Contract Documents shall be included in the various Pay Items whether or not such work is specifically called for. The individual Pay Item descriptions are not exhaustive and do not detail each specific item need to complete the Work of that Pay Item. Any necessary labor, materials, equipment, tools, appurtenances or other items not mentioned but required to complete the Work shall be considered incidental to Contract, and as such, shall be included in the appropriate Pay Item prices.

1.2 BID ITEMS

The following Bid Items 1 through 110, together with any supplemental Bid Items that may also be included, comprise the Bid Total as listed on the Bid Form.

A. ITEM 1, SPECIFICATION NO. 012215.11, UNIT PRICE FOR FOREMAN: MEASUREMENT: The number of units paid shall be measured by the actual number

of hours worked as verified by the GCDWR Project Inspector. This item is to only be used to limits established in writing by GCDWR upon directing such work and is not to

be used by the Contractor as a method of payment for any work that is part of the work of another item. The Contractor shall provide payroll records and description of work accomplished for all labor hours paid for under this item. PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid under this item shall include all necessary labor, equipment, tools, and materials required for work under this item.

B. ITEM 2, SPECIFICATION NO. 012215.11, UNIT PRICE FOR LABORER: MEASUREMENT: The number of units paid shall be measured by the actual number

of hours worked as verified by the GCDWR Project Inspector. This item is to only be used to limits established in writing by GCDWR upon directing such work and is not to be used by the Contractor as a method of payment for any work that is part of the work of another item. C. ITEM 3, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 024113.23, UNIT PRICE FOR REMOVAL OF EXISTING NON-DRAINAGE STRUCTURES:

MEASUREMENT: The removal of existing non-drainage structures paid for under this item shall be the existing non-drainage structures authorized by GCDWR not incidental to other work to be removed. There will be no additional payment for excavating and backfilling of existing non-drainage structures that are removed.

PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid for each existing non-drainage structure removed shall include all necessary tools, equipment, labor and materials to remove, load, handle, haul away, and dispose to complete the Work.

D. ITEM 4, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 024113.23, UNIT PRICE FOR REMOVAL OF AND RELOCATION OF EXISTING STORAGE BUILDING:

MEASUREMENT: The removal and relocation of existing storage buildings shall be measured and paid for per each storage building authorized by GCDWR to be removed and relocated. There will be no additional payment for excavating, backfilling, storage building foundations, utility work, etc. under this item.

PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid for each existing storage building removed and relocated shall include all necessary tools, equipment, labor, and materials to remove, load, handle, relocate, restore utility services, and other incidentals required to complete the Work.

E. ITEM 5, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 024113.23, UNIT PRICE FOR REMOVAL OF EXISTING DRAINAGE STRUCTURES:

MEASUREMENT: The removal of existing drainage structures paid for under this item shall be the existing drainage structures authorized by GCDWR to be removed. There will be no additional payment for excavating and backfilling of existing drainage structures that are removed.

PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid for each existing drainage structure removed shall include all necessary tools, equipment, labor and materials to remove, load, handle, haul away, and dispose to complete the Work.

F. ITEM 6, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 024113.23, UNIT PRICE FOR REMOVAL OF EXISTING PIPE, ALL TYPES AND SIZES:

MEASUREMENT: The removal of existing pipe, all types and sizes paid for under this item shall be the existing pipe, all types and sizes authorized by GCDWR to be removed. There will be no additional payment for excavating and backfilling of existing pipe, all types and sizes that are removed.

PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid for each existing pipe, all types and sizes removed shall include all necessary tools, equipment, labor and materials to remove, load, handle, haul away, and dispose to complete the Work.

G. ITEM 7, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 024211, UNIT PRICE FOR DEBRIS REMOVAL:

MEASUREMENT: Debris Removal paid for under this item shall be measured per load of debris removed authorized by GCDWR not incidental to other work to be removed. Each Load is defined as 15 CY of material.

PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid for debris removal shall include removal, loading, haul away, and disposal of trash, debris, detritus, dumped waste materials, automobiles, and all other tools, equipment, labor, materials, and incidentals required to complete the Work.

H. ITEMS 8.A-8.D, 9.A-9.D SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 03 33 00, CONCRETE STRUCTURES, CAST-IN-PLACE, INCLUDING/WITHOUT REINFORCING STEEL: MEASUREMENT: Concrete structures, cast-in-place shall be measured and paid for per cubic yard of each separate class of concrete installed, complete-in-place.

1. Structures with and without steel reinforcing shall be measured and paid for under the appropriate Pay Item as noted on the Bid Form.

2. Cast-in-place reinforced concrete box culvert barrels, parapets, wingwalls, aprons, baffles, and any other cast-in-place structures associated with cast-in-place culvert construction shall be measured and paid for under Items 8 and 9 as appropriate.

3. GCDWR may also use Items 8 and 9 for the construction of other miscellaneous cast-in-place concrete work that is not measured and paid for under other Item in this Contract.

PAYMENT: The Price Bid for Concrete structures, , cast-in-place shall include excavation, backfill, concrete, reinforcing steel as applicable, materials testing, and all other labor, materials, equipment and other incidentals required to complete the Work.

I. ITEMS 10.A-10.M, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 04 21 13, BRICK MASONRY: MEASUREMENT: Brick Masonry shall be measured and paid for per each size classification shown on the bid form installed, complete in place. PAYMENT: The Price Bid for Brick Masonry shall include excavation, bedding, and backfill not included in other items, brick masonry, reinforcing as applicable, materials testing, and all other labor, materials, equipment and other incidentals required to complete the Work.

J. ITEMS 11.A-11.M, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 04 43 13, RUBBLE MASONRY: MEASUREMENT: Rubble Masonry shall be measured and paid for per each size classification shown on the bid form installed, complete in place. PAYMENT: The Price Bid for Rubble Masonry shall include excavation, bedding, and

backfill not included in other items, rubble masonry, reinforcing as applicable, materials testing, and all other labor, materials, equipment and other incidentals required to complete the Work.

K. ITEMS 12.A-12.C, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 11 00, TREE REMOVAL INCLUDING STUMP: MEASUREMENT: Tree removal including stump shall be measured per the number of trees actually removed per each size classification shown on the Bid Form. PAYMENT: The Price Bid for each tree removed shall include all necessary tools, labor, equipment, and materials required to remove the tree, stump, and root wad, removal from the site and disposal of the tree and stump, and all other incidentals required to complete the Work.

L. ITEM 13, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 11 00, TREE STUMP REMOVAL: MEASUREMENT: Tree stump removal shall be measured per the number of tree stumps actually removed per each size classification shown on the Bid Form. This item shall not be utilized for tree stumps removed as part of Items 12.A-12.C. PAYMENT: The Price Bid for each tree removed shall include all necessary tools, labor, equipment, and materials required to remove the stump, and root wad, removal from the site and disposal of the stump, and all other incidentals required to complete the Work.

M. ITEMS 14-16, SPECIFICATION SECTION 31 13 11, UNIT PRICE FOR FENCING REMOVAL, STORAGE, AND RESETTING, FENCING, REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT, COMPLETE, AND TEMPORARY FENCING MEASUREMENT: Fencing shall be measured and paid for per linear foot of fence to the limits established in writing or as otherwise directed by GCDWR. PAYMENT: Bid Prices shall include furnishing and installing poles, fence fabric, cross beams, gates, slates, maintenance during construction, disposal of fencing removed, and all other labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the Work. Removal, handling, hauling, and disposal of existing fences will be considered incidental to this Pay Item and no additional compensation will be made.

N. ITEM 17, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 13 11, ORANGE BARRIER FENCE (NOT USED AS SAFETY FENCE): MEASUREMENT: Orange barrier fence shall be measured per linear foot installed, complete in place. This item shall not be utilized for orange barrier fencing used as safety fence, which shall be considered incidental to the Work. PAYMENT: The unit price shall include all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for furnishing, placing, maintenance, removal, inspection, monitoring, and reporting on the erosion and sedimentation controls. No additional payment shall be made for maintenance or replacement of Orange Barrier Fence.

O. ITEMS 18.A-18.B, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 23 00, PIPE INSTALLATION - ADDITIONAL EXCAVATION COST WHERE DEPTH TO TOP OF PIPE IS GREATER THAN 10’ (10’-15’)/(GREATER THAN 15’): MEASUREMENT: Additional Excavation Cost Where Depth to top of pipe exceeds the value as specified per Item and shall be measured per linear foot as measured along the centerline of the pipe.

PAYMENT: The Price Bid for this item shall include excavating, handling, rehandling, backfilling, compacting and disposal of materials at the specified extra depth of cover as measured to the pipe invert, including all shoring and protective measures. Extra depth must be approved if not indicated on the plan as being required.

P. ITEMS 19-20, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 23 00, CHANNEL/BORROW EXCAVATION: MEASUREMENT: Channel/Borrow Excavation shall be measured and paid for per cubic yard to the limits established in writing by GCDWR upon directing such work. PAYMENT: Prices Bid shall include excavation, backfill with approved materials, hauling, handling, placement, and compaction, and all other labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the Work.

Q. ITEM 21, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 23 00, SHOULDER BUILDING/OTHER SOIL TO REMAIN ONSITE: MEASUREMENT: Shoulder building/other soil to remain onsite shall be measured and paid for per cubic yard of material that is disturbed, not replaced in excavation areas, and used for other purposes on site. PAYMENT: Prices Bid shall include handling, rehandling, hauling, and all other labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the Work.

R. ITEM 22, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 23 00, HAUL OFF TO NON-GCDWR SITE: MEASUREMENT: Spoil Removal shall be measured and paid for per load of material removed from the site and hauled to a non-GCDWR owned site. Each Load is defined as 15 cubic yards of material. PAYMENT: Prices Bid shall include handling, rehandling, hauling, disposal, disposal fees, and all other labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the Work.

S. ITEM 23, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 23 00, HAUL OFF TO GCDWR SITE: MEASUREMENT: Haul off to GCDWR Site shall be measured and paid for per load of material removed from the site and hauled to a GCDWR site where disposal fees do not have to be paid. Each Load is defined as 15 cubic yards of material. PAYMENT: Prices Bid shall include handling, rehandling, hauling, placement at the destination site, and all other labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the Work.

T. ITEMS 24-25, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 23 00, ROCK EXCAVATION (UP TO 100 CY)/(GREATER THAN 100 CY): MEASUREMENT: Rock Excavation shall be measured and paid for per cubic yard of rock material removed. PAYMENT: Prices Bid shall include, excavation, blasting, hoe ramming, ripping, and all other manner of rock excavation methods, backfill not included in other items, and all other labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the Work.

U. ITEM 26, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 23 00, CLASSIFIED STONE (#57, #5, #4, CRUSHER RUN, GAB, ETC.): MEASUREMENT: Classified Stone shall be measured and paid for per the actual

number of tons of material placed as directed in writing by GCDWR. PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid per ton of Classified Stone include any additional permit fees, maintenance charges and inspection fees required by all road departments and the furnishing of all materials, labor, tools, and appliances necessary to complete the Work as herein specified, shown or ordered. Included shall be the costs of additional excavation beyond trench width to provide firm foundation and any costs of furnishing necessary work beyond the limits of measurement as defined under these specifications. Payment will not be made when Classified Stone is used by the Contractor for the Contractor’s convenience or when used by the Contractor to simplify compaction.

V. ITEM 27, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 23 23.33, FLOWABLE FILL: MEASUREMENT: Flowable fill shall be measured and paid for per cubic yard of material placed as directed by GCDWR. PAYMENT: The Price Bid shall include furnishing and placing flowable fill and all other labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the Work.

W. ITEM 28, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 25 00, CONSTRUCTION EXIT: MEASUREMENT: Construction Exits shall be measured per each installed, complete in place. PAYMENT: The unit price shall include all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for furnishing, placing, maintenance, removal, inspection, monitoring, and reporting on the erosion and sedimentation controls. No additional payment shall be made for re-application or maintenance of construction exits.

X. ITEM 29, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 25 00, MULCH COMPLETE: MEASUREMENT: Mulch shall be measured per square yard installed at the coverage rate specified, complete in place. PAYMENT: The unit price shall include all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for furnishing, placing, maintenance, removal, inspection, monitoring, and reporting on the erosion and sedimentation controls. No additional payment shall be made for re-application or maintenance of mulch.

Y. ITEM 30, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 25 00, PINE STRAW BALE COMPLETE: MEASUREMENT: Pine straw bales shall be measured and paid for per each bale used, complete. PAYMENT: The unit price shall include all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for furnishing, placing, maintenance, removal, inspection, monitoring, and reporting on the erosion and sedimentation controls. No additional payment shall be made for re-application or maintenance of pine straw.

Z. ITEMS 31.A-31.B, SPECIFICATION SECTION NO. 31 25 00, SILT FENCE, COMPLETE: MEASUREMENT: Silt Fence shall be measured per linear foot of each type installed, complete in place. PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid per square yard includes the furnishing of all labor, materials, sanding, maintenance, and appliances necessary to complete the Work as specified. Topsoil removed from the immediate site and reused will not be considered for payment.

NN. ITEM 48, SPECIFICATION SECTION 32 92 00, UNIT PRICE FOR TOPSOIL MEASUREMENT: The quantity to be paid for under this item shall be the number of cubic yards of topsoil placed as directed GCDWR. PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid per cubic yard includes the furnishing of all labor, materials and appliances necessary to complete the Work as specified. Topsoil removed from the immediate site and reused will not be considered for payment.

OO. ITEM 49, SPECIFICATION SECTION 32 92 00, UNIT PRICE FOR MOWING/BUSH HOGGING MEASUREMENT: The quantity to be paid for mowing/bush hogging under this item shall be the number of acres mowed/bush hogged to the limits established in writing by GCDWR upon directing such work. ITEMS 50.A-50.B, 51.A-51.D, AND 52, SPECIFICATION SECTION 32 93 43, UNIT PRICE FOR TREE, SHRUB, AND FLOWER REPLACEMENTS MEASUREMENT: The quantity to be paid under this item shall be the number of trees, shrubs, and bedding flowers (per flat of 18 flower plants) actually planted by type as shown on the Drawings or as directed by GCDWR. . PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid for each type planted shall include all necessary tools, equipment, labor and materials to complete the Work.

QQ. ITEMS 53, SPECIFICATION SECTION 33 01 30.16, UNIT PRICE FOR STORM LINE TV INSPECTION MEASUREMENT: Storm Line TV Inspection shall be measured by linear foot of pipe line from center of the upstream manhole/structure to center of the downstream manhole/structure.

1. No separate payment will be made for television inspection when that inspection is associated with the installation of rehabilitation systems; the work and materials being considered as incidental to and part of the rehabilitation system. Contractor will be required to submit both a Pre-Lining and Post-Lining inspection, and these inspections must comply with the same technical standards and specifications as all CCTV Condition Assessment surveys as outlined in Section 33 01 30.16.

PAYMENT: The Price Bid shall be full compensation for furnishing all labor, tools, NASSCO PACP/MACP training, preparing and furnishing condition assessment reports meeting NASSCO standards, and all other labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the Work.

RR. ITEMS 54-55, SPECIFICATION SECTION 33 01 30.51, UNIT PRICE FOR STORM LINE CLEANING, LIGHT AND HEAVY MEASUREMENT: Storm Line Cleaning shall be measured by linear foot of pipe from center of the upstream manhole/structure to center of the downstream manhole/structure or to face of headwall.

1. Cleaning shall be defined as the removal of all foreign materials, debris, rocks, roots, silt, and sediment from the storm system to restore the pipe to a minimum of 95% + of the through flow channel and cross section for clear viewing of the interior surfaces of the pipes during television inspection, or as required pre-cleaning for other specified rehabilitation.

2. No separate payment will be made for cleaning when that cleaning is associated with the installation of the rehabilitation system, the work and materials being considered as incidental to and part of the rehabilitation system unit bid prices.

3. Storm System Cleaning, Light shall be defined as the removal of foreign materials as defined above when the existing materials to be removed make up less than 25% of the pipe cross section. Rocks should average less than 3” in diameter.

4. Storm System Cleaning, Heavy shall be defined as the removal of foreign materials as defined above when the existing materials to be removed make up more than 25% of the pipe cross section. Rocks should average more than 3” in diameter. This level of cleaning requires prior notice to GCDWR and prior approval from GCDWR.

PAYMENT: Payment will be full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials,

SS. ITEM 56, SPECIFICATION SECTION 33 01 30.71, UNIT PRICE FOR MORTAR GROUTING OF CRACKS/JOINTS, COMPLETE PER STRUCTURE MEASUREMENT: Mortar Grouting of cracks/joints, shall be measured and paid for per each structure where joints and/or cracks are sealed as directed by GCDWR. PAYMENT: The Price Bid shall include cleaning, patching, flow control, plugging/blocking, mortar and/or concrete, and all other labor, materials, equipment, and other incidentals required to complete the Work.

TT. ITEMS 57.A-57.N, SPECIFICATION SECTION 33 05 23.16, UTILITY PIPE JACKING MEASUREMENT: The quantity to be paid for uncased boring, jacked steel casing, or steel casing/open cut shall be the actual number of lineal feet placed under the respective item as shown on the Drawings or as directed by the Engineer. PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid per lineal feet of uncased boring, jacked steel casing, or steel casing/open cut shall be in full compensation for all excavation, rock excavation, dewatering, sheeting, shoring, jacking/auguring operations, receiving pits, concrete, grout, sand and screenings, brick masonry, steel casing pipe, welding, backfill and all other materials, labor, tools, equipment necessary for the proper completion of the Work as shown, specified, or directed. ITEMS 61.A-61.N, SPECIFICATION SECTION 33 12 16, WATER UTILITY DISTRIBUTION VALVES MEASUREMENT: Measurement shall be based on the actual number, size, and type of valves installed or relocated as shown on the Drawings or as directed by GCDWR. PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid per each valve under this item shall be in full compensation for the furnishings, testing, installing and painting of all valves, furnishing and installing valve markers, valve boxes with concrete collars, including pilot valves, sleeves, anchors, gauges, gearing, wrenches, lubricant, brackets, valve operating nut extensions, valve keys, tapping sleeves, the cutting and plugging of existing mains as required, and other accessories and appurtenances, and the furnishing of all detailed drawings, manuals, labor, superintendents, materials, tools and appliances necessary to complete the Work as specified. ITEMS 62.A-62.E, SPECIFICATION SECTION 33 12 13, WATER SERVICE LINES, INCLUDING TAPPING SADDLES MEASUREMENT: Water Service Lines shall be measured and paid for under this item per the actual linear feet of water service line installed as verified by the GCDWR Inspector. PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid for water service lines shall include excavation, backfill, tapping saddles, corp stops, caps, and reconnections to existing water meters, testing, disinfection, and the furnishing of all other labor, materials, tools, incidentals, and appliances necessary to complete the Work as specified.

PAY ITEM 64, SPECIFICATION NO. 331219.81, RELOCATE OR RECONNECT FIRE HYDRANTS MEASUREMENT: Measurement shall be based on the number of actual existing hydrants that have been relocated or reconnected as shown on the Drawings or as directed by GCDWR. PAYMENT: The Unit Prices Bid for relocating or reconnecting fire hydrants shall include excavation, disconnecting from and plugging and blocking or connecting up openings in existing mains, cleaning and reworking hydrants and valves removed from the existing water system, and relocating, setting, connecting all hydrants and gate valves to the new mains, and furnishing all labor, superintendence, equipment, materials, tools, and appliances necessary to complete the Work as specified, indicated, or required. Gate valves will be paid for under the bid item titled Gate Valves. No additional payment will be made for temporary pavement, and the cost thereof shall be considered as being incidental to the Work of this Contract. No additional payment will be made for resetting highway signs, and the cost thereof shall be considered as being incidental to the Work of this Contract. PAYMENT: The Price Bids per unit of area for Street Cuts shall include saw cuts, sub-base, base course, and surface course pavements, concrete, prime and tack coats, compaction, permit fees, maintenance charges and inspection fees required by all road departments and the furnishing of all materials, labor, tools, and appliances necessary to complete the Work as herein specified, shown or ordered. A. Smooth Lined Corrugated High Density Polyethylene Pipe shall meet the requirements of AASHTO M 294, Type S, and the Georgia Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Section 845 , latest edition.

2.6 REINFORCED CONCRETE PIPE (RCP)

A. RCP shall meet the requirements of ASTM C76/AASHTO M 170, and the Georgia Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Section 843, latest edition. RCP shall be minimum of Class III in accordance with GDOT Standard Detail 1030-D, Table No. 1, and shall be provided in lengths of not less than 8 feet each. All joints shall be bell and spigot or tongue and groove type with a rubber gasket conforming to ASTM C-443.

B. RCP Arch Pipe shall meet the requirements of ASTM C506 and AASHTO M 206.

2.7 FLARED END SECTIONS

A. Flared end sections shall be of the following types: 1. Concrete Flared End Sections shall conform to GDOT Standard Detail

1120. 2. Safety Flared End Sections shall conform to GDOT Standard Detail 1122. 3. Corrugated Metal Flared End Sections shall conform to GDOT Standard

Detail 1120.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 BEDDING

A. No pipe shall be brought into position until the preceding length has been thoroughly embedded and secured in place. The supporting of pipe on wood blocks, loose brick, etc., shall not be permitted. Defects due to settlement shall be made good by the Contractor at his/her own expense.

B. For laying pipe in rock, the trench shall be made to conform to the general dimensions required, and the sub grade shall be brought to the required elevation by use of bedding materials. Sides and bottom of pipes shall be supported by compacting these materials in place so as to ensure an even bearing for the pipe. Particular care shall be taken that pipes are not permitted to rest upon or against solid or projecting portions of rock.

C. Take care to avoid contact between the pipe and mechanical compaction equipment. Do not use compaction equipment directly over the pipe until sufficient backfill has been placed to assure that such equipment shall not damage or disturb the pipe.

D. Bedding shall conform to the attached details.
