• Who can compete in a trial? Any and all dogs that are 10 months or older on the day of their TOT or trial are eligible to compete. All dogs must have their current Rabies vaccination.

• Do I need to register with PSD? PSD registers dogs, not people. A $30 registration fee is good for the lifetime of the dog and can be done instantly online.

• What if I don’t pass the TOT? You can still play!! Dogs must pass a Target Odor Test (TOT) in order to compete in the Standard Division, however if you do not pass you are still allowed to enter the trial as FEO (For Exhibition Only) for the day.

• My dog has a Nose Work title from a different organization; do I have to pass a TOT? If you have already passed an odor test in another scent work organization you do not have to take the TOT. Dogs with an NW3, SDDA Excellent or UKC Level 5 title may skip the Novice level and start PSD at the Advanced level. Please send a copy of your test results to the trial secretary in order to register.

• Does my dog have to be in the car all day? No, crating space will be available in the air-conditioned hall, and you can hang out there also. However, if your dog is happier in the car that is okay too. Be sure to park in the crating-approved parking spaces.

• Can I watch other competitors? Yes you can watch, either after you run, or you can watch a different level compete.

• Can my friend videotape my searches? Yes! And you may post them when that class is complete and the judges declare all clear.

• Awards: Rosette placement ribbons will be awarded for 1st-3rd place in Standard division. Rosettes will be awarded for new class titles and level titles. Ribbons will be awarded for Q’s in all classes, Standard divisions, and TOTs. *NEW* Iron Nose Award for teams qualifying in all five classes, regardless of level.

• Spectators are invited to come and watch a PSD trial. However, because of tight space they may not be able to observe the Buildings search in this trial.

• Fees: Birch, Anise, and Clove TOTs are $25.00 each, and each class offered is $20.00.

• To register for this trial, complete the Entry form, sign the Release of Liability, and mail it to the trial secretary along with your check made payable to Dog Blessed Training LLC, or register online at www.performancescentdogs.com. Do not make checks payable to Performance Scent Dogs. Entries will be taken on a first-received basis and must be received by noon on Aug. 14th, 2019.

Collars - No electric, choke, or spray collars are allowed at this trial. Also, no flexi-leashes are allowed on the property. For searches, only a flat or martingale collar, or leash attached to a harness are permitted to be used. You may use a long line. NO TAGS allowed on collars while searching; tags may, however, be attached to harnesses.

Crating - Bring your own crate. Crating will be in the church’s Social Hall.

Parking - The large parking lot is paved.

Food - Lunch will be available for a small fee, or you can bring your own food & drink if you want. Email lisahamburg@me.com for more info.

Bathrooms - Inside the Social Hall.

Accessibility - The building has a ramp or three steps leading up to the front door. Some searches will be outside on pavement or rough ground.

Dogs In Need of Space (DINOS) - The site has plenty of parking and places to walk dogs at a distance of 10 feet or more. The entrance area is tight; expect dogs to be with their owners at times or on the way to or from searches. If your dog is stressed by dogs or people within four to six feet, this site may not be a match for your team. Email the trial secretary with questions.

Handler running multiple dogs A handler can run multiple dogs in TOTs at any trial. **NEW** At this trial, handlers may run one dog in any of the classes at any level. A second dog may run FEO in the same class, same level, or Standard in a different level any class.

Volunteers will help our trial run smoothly. We need Timers, Gate Stewards, Score runners, Hot and Cold Box Handlers, and others. Contact Judy @ 954-647-1079 to help.No experience required! Volunteers get to run first in their class. Thanks in advance for your help!

is the rescue we chose to support at this trial. If you’d like to help them out in their quest to save dogs, please bring your gently used collars, harnesses, leashes and other dog-related items to the trial; we will have a designated donation area.

They are a small, but mighty, Not-For-Profit - 501(c)(3) - No-Kill dog and cat rescue organization in South Florida. They are comprised solely of volunteers who love animals. They rescue stray, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats and work very hard to place them in loving homes. They are comprised ENTIRELY of volunteers with full-time careers and families. They believe the best environment for a dog or cat is a loving home.  Acquiring and staffing a shelter becomes a tremendous overhead cost as they want 100% of their funds to go towards the rescue, care and adoption of their animals.  They depend on their Foster Families to care for their rescued animals until they can find their "Forever" Family.  They do the rescue stuff (which is their true passion) after work and on the weekends. So if your phone calls or emails are not answered by a live person right away --- it's probably because they are at work and will reply as soon as they get home.
