hold weekly choir practices

Qualifications: Possess musical knowledge or experience in selecting and directing music for a choir. Be comfortable working with technology used in wor-

Greetings Family of God,

Overwhelmed yet? Tired of the “Covidiots,” politics, nega-

tivity, divisiveness, and dissension? Most of us live in a state

of information overload. Unfortunately, very little of it is

encouraging. Is it any wonder we feel anxious, depressed,

angry, frustrated, or defeated? In my IT days, we used to

say GIGO!! Garbage IN Garbage Out. What we put into

our minds, and especially what we allow our minds to dwell

on tend to take up residence in our hearts, and scripture

tells us that out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth

speaks!

You are not alone in this struggle. The Apostle Paul writes

to the church in Philippi to address their anxieties, and lack

of rejoicing. Look…

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let

your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be

anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and

petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And

the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will

guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally,

brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatev-

er is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is ad-

mirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about

such things. – Philippians 4:4-8, NIV.

Updates from the Board of Christian Education

Sunday school for both adults and children to

resume August 9th. We will social distance, and use

masks. The children will meet at the shelter house. The

adults will meet in the Family Life Center, and the Jr. Sr.

High in their usual space.

We will not have children's moment or children's church yet, we will re-assess after school has been back

in session a few weeks.

Christian Ed, is also procuring children's size cloth masks that can be cleaned for children who do not have one, thought school-age children will probably have one that they are required to wear in the public school sys-

tem.

We extend our sincere Christian sympathy to the family and friends of Naomi Heuer. Naomi was a 63 year member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church

and had helped with the newsletter for many years. A graveside service was held at Lewis Creek Bap-tist Cemetery July 17th.

Scrip Cards will be due August 16th

We are still taking orders for Scrip Cards as a way to help the Lewis Creek Baptist Youth with fundraising. A new updated order form and information sheet is available on the table in the Narthex. There are numerous cards available in various dollar amounts. These cards make great gifts for col-lege students, adult children, grandparents, etc. We will be taking orders the third Sunday of each month. The cards are usually back in a week to ten days. Take the info sheet and order forms and plan out your shop-ping. Give your completed form with check made out to LCBC/ABY to either Lori Drake or place in the offering. If you have questions, contact Lori or the church office.

Thank you to all who helped celebrate Paul’s 90th Birthday under the canopy at the church. We pulled off the surprise and it was a grand

evening. It had been such a long time since they had physically seen you; it was a special treat. We so appre-ciate your letting us use the sidewalk and drive and your

birthday smiles and wishes meant so much.

Was most fun trying to figure out who the masked persons were driving up! Thank you.

Carol Douglas Lee

Thank you so much for the prayers and cards while I was recovering, your concerns were deeply ap-preciated. Can't wait for the Nursing home to open up so I can get out to see family. Ruth Huntsman

“Thank You” to all of you for coming to my drive through celebration and surprising me on my birthday. It was nice to see so many of you. Thanks also for all the birthday cards. I have enjoyed reading all of them. I appreciate

my church family.

Love you!

Paul and Judy Douglas

Lewis Creek Family,

Thank you to the entire Lewis Creek Baptist Church Family for comfort and consolation during the homegoing service for our dear Grandma, Naomi Heuer. Your kindness in the name of our Lord and Savior was a

blessing to us.

Sincerely,

Pete & Kerri Heuer

To Lewis Creek Baptist Church,

Thank you so much for the thoughts and pray-ers. Deegan had a bike wreck and fractured his orbital socket (eye socket) on July 10th. On July 16th we saw a specialist and found out that we were not going to have surgery and we were going to let the fractures heal on their own. Deegan has been doing very good and is recuperating well. He has been told to keep his activity level to a minimum (but he is 6, so that has been a chal-

lenge)!

We really appreciate all of the thoughts, pray-ers and cards that Deegan received during this

time. The cards help lift his spirits.

Thank you,

The Smith Family,

Brian, Deona and Deegan

Thank you very much for coming to help cele-

brate my graduation from high school. I appreciate all of

your support.

Drew Drake

Congratulations Sierra!

IT’S A SURPRISE

No gifts, please. A card will be fine!

Rural King Church Week Rural King is sponsoring CHURCH WEEK August 2, 2020 through August 15, 2020. Through this program customers can sup-port local Christian churches. During Church Week, customers can choose a registered organization to donate to and begin uploading their receipts. All receipts must be uploaded to www.ruralking.com/churchweek by September 1, 2020. Receipts must be dated between August 2, 2020 and Au-gust 15, 2020 to qualify. Rural King will donate 10% of each valid Rural King receipt’s total after sales tax to the registered organization chosen by the customer.

We tend to separate these verses and used them for different

purposes like to combat anxiety, or regarding intercesso-

ry prayer, but taken together they hold the keys to re-

joicing! Through out the ages, Christians have been able

to rejoice in the Lord in the face of circumstances far

more terrifying than anything we face today! How?

Presenting their requests to God with thanksgiving

Letting the peace of God guard their hearts

Filled their minds with pure, lovely, admirable, noble, true,

right, excellent, and praiseworthy things!

If your life is lacking in rejoicing, then shut off the flow of

garbage from it’s various sources, and fill your minds

with the good stuff, so that rejoicing can take up resi-

dence in your hearts regardless of what is happening in

our world today.
