Christ Moravian Church August 2018 FELLOWSHIP MESSENGER Dave’s Devotional What’s In a Name? “What’s your name?” is probably one of the most popular questions we are often asked. Many of us have probably researched the meaning of our name or asked our parents why they chose to give us our names. I am named after my father and for that reason we chose to name our son after me. Sometimes it gets confusing around the house when we hear Lee call out, “David” but we have adjusted over the years and can usually figure out which one of us is in trouble! Joking aside, as I thought of names I thought of how the names we are given help to shape who we are. If another name had been chosen for me, would my personality had changed in some way? What’s your name? Has your name helped shape who you are? No matter what the name it is nice to have people know you and call you by that name. Jesus loves to hear us call His name. And remember, more important than our names given to us at birth are the names given to us by God that shape us forever. I love that God calls all of us “Children.” I love that God calls of us, “Blessed.” As we think of names this month, let us remember these words from Romans 10:13 that says: “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” With the joy of serving Christ together, The Rev. FELLOWSHIP MESSENGER

Dave’s Devotional

What’s In a Name? I love that God calls all of us “Children.” I love that God calls of us, “Blessed.” As we think of names this month, let us remember these words from Romans 10:13 that says: “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

With the joy of serving Christ together,

The Rev. Dr. David A. Marcus, Jr.

This year’s festival will include an introduction to the full Moravian Ministry Voyage, a unique event celebrating the Moravian church’s history of mission. All families are invited to the Children’s Festival, where they can go at their own pace and learn Moravian history. In addition to general Moravian history, participants will learn about the founding of Hope Moravian Church and its role in the Southern Province. Not only will the festival feature the introduction of the Moravian Ministry Voyage, it will include a sneak peak of the Moravian musical Irene: the Adventure Begins! The musical will be a part of the Voyage info fair in September.
