FROM THE CHAIRMAN

ALL HANDS ON DECK NOWSummer is here and campaign season is in full swing! Our mis-sion is to elect Republicans, and we have three months in which to accomplish this.

Our goal as a Unit is to get out the vote in Frederick County for the Republican ticket on Election Day. We do this by encouraging people to vote Republican. Sounds simple, right? It is a simple con-cept, but there are many aspects to an effective ground game that will bring victory on Election Day.

We encourage people—This involves educating, listening, and persuading. Wear a political button or sticker as a conversation starter. Don’t be afraid to bring up politics in conversation, but approach it in a non-threatening way. Find out what issues matter most to those around you, and find a way to relate that to the can-didate(s) you’re promoting.

We register Republicans to vote—Technically, we don’t have declared party affiliation, so you can’t actually register as a Republi-can in the Commonwealth of Vir-

ginia. But you can welcome people to the Party by offering voter reg-istrations, and you can ensure that newly-registered voters have a fa-vorable opinion of the Republican Party by sharing your thoughts on the Republican platform, offering literature describing the Repub-lican Creed, and explaining why you support Republican principles and candidates.

We remind voters to vote on Election Day—Our energies be-tween now and November will be focused on getting the word out about our candidates, and we want to engage as many people as possi-ble so we know where they stand. It is very helpful to our campaigns to know who can be counted on to vote and who needs a little extra nudge. Personal interactions win the day, every single time.

We need all hands on deck this election. If you haven’t yet signed up to serve in some capacity, please contact me or another member of the leadership team to find out how you can get involved to help elect our candidates this fall. Let’s get out there and win!

servative voice relevant on college campuses. Here in the Common-wealth of Virginia, our local CR chapters are organized and united under a statewide leadership team called the College Republican Federation of Virginia, or CRFV. The CRFV seeks to assist existing chapters in collaborative efforts, and it also seeks to create new local chapters in more universities

around the commonwealth. Currently, we are in the process of trying to form a chapter at Shenandoah University in Win-chester VA, and we need your help. If you know any faculty, students, or other individuals associated with SU who would be interested in assisting to form this club, please contact Ian Frith at [email protected].

Want to know how you can help support your Republican can-didates with just a computer and a few minutes of your time? Like and Share our candidates’ campaigns on social media. For specific instructions on how you can help, read on for an important message from Jill Vogel’s cam-paign—please note that these ideas apply to all our Republican candidates.

Dear Supporters, As Jill Vogel’s campaign gears up for November, we need your help grow-ing our following on social media so voters across the Commonwealth can stay up to date with all the ex-citement and fresh ideas which this campaign season will bring. There are four ways you can help grow Jill’s following: 1. Sharing Jill’s Facebook page on your personal timeline2. Sharing Jill’s Facebook page on your political page3. Personally inviting your friends to like Jill’s Facebook page

LOCAL CANDIDATES

GETTING SOCIAL

4. Asking your Twitter followers to also follow @JillHVogel Please contact your Unit Chair (or the Vogel campaign) to request a detailed guide with screenshots on how to do these things, if you are unfamiliar. Every like you get for free saves the campaign between $0.50 and $1 in advertising expense, so if you can get 100 likes, that is like contribut-ing $50 or $100 to help Jill’s cam-paign – but for free!

Remember to visit all our candi-dates’ websites and put these great ideas into practice.

VOTER REGISTRATION TRAINING

Do you know what the last day is to register to vote in Virginia for the 2017 election?

If you’re talking to a friend about civic involvement and find out he or she is not registered to vote, do you know the most effective way to ensure they don’t forget to com-plete this important civic duty?

Find the answers to these and oth-er questions in the online training for voter registration, provided by

the Virginia State Board of Elec-tions at the following link: http://www.elections.virginia.gov/regis-tration/registration-drives/index.html

This page displays three options for training; if you follow the link at the third option (“Watch the online training video”), it will take you to a brief training video (about 15 minutes long), which

you must watch before filling out an affidavit that confirms you have watched the training. This signed affidavit will enable you to collect more than 25 voter applications at a time from the County, and ensures that you know what to do with them, legally, once you have collected them!

It may not be the most riveting fifteen minutes of your life, but watching the online voter reg-istration tutorial provided by the Department of Elections is a crucial step toward maximizing Republican turnout here in Fred-erick County.

Frederick County is currently a very strongly Republican-leaning County. But that could change. Residents get complacent, new people move in, Democrats keep pressing forward, and eventually you have a purple-leaning-blue county. Don’t think it can happen here in Frederick County? Look no further than at our neighbor over the Ridge, Loudoun County.

If we do not make the effort to consistently register new voters and encourage them to join the Republican Party, we will lose our strong edge. We need to continue to grow our party.

Getting people to the polls on Election Day is only the final step in a process that begins when they register to vote. We have until Oc-tober 16th to register new voters. Ideally, every one of our members will watch the online video, and

make an effort to sign up Repub-lican-minded friends, neighbors, and acquaintances between now and October 16th.

Even if your goal is not to order the maximum number of 200 vot-er registrations, you can still watch

Training continued from page 4

the training video so you’ll be prepared to distribute and collect voter registrations as you are able.

This is the ideal time for voter registration drives. Let’s get busy spreading the word and signing people up to vote!

EVENTS IN AND AROUND TOWN

GOING, GOING….Andrew Nicholson, 10th Congres-sional District Committee Vice Chair, is collecting items for a Si-lent Auction for the 10th District Gala being held September 15th. Individual members are encour-aged to consider what item(s) of interest they may have to donate, and local business owners that would like to have exposure with Republicans in our area are also welcomed to contribute.

Not only will contributors of items reach the 300-400 people attend-ing the Gala, but also the more than 10,000 people who receive emails from the 10th District Committee. This is a tremendous

opportunity to show support for our Party as well as receive at-tention and thanks from activists across the district.

Please contact Andrew at [email protected] for more information.

EVENTS IN AND AROUND TOWN

It is my honor and privilege to invite you to our annual event at our favorite local Clarke winery, Veramar Vineyards.

Date: October 7, 2017Time: 6:00-9:00PPlace: Veramar Vineyards - 905 Quarry Rd., Berryville, VA 22611 Every year in late summer or early fall, in the hidden treasure we call Clarke County, the ClarkeGOP hosts an annual fundraiser that honors the elected and the candi-dates that our party is fortunate enough to have. Last year, our guests included most of the Statewide GOP Pri-mary Candidates that ran in our recent primary. Besides good wine and good friends, the evening was concluded by a spectacular orange harvest moon rise over the moun-tains that only Clarke County Virginia could bring you.

This year, I am extending an invi-tation to every elected and party official and leader in the 10th Congressional District and adja-cent districts. With redistricting on the not too distant horizon, it is up to the Units to look around and next door toward our Repub-lican friends and allies with whom we will very likely be working much closer in the coming years.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you at 6:00P on Saturday, October 7th at Veramar Vineyards in our picturesque Clarke County.
