From the East:I am pleased to thank and welcome our newest Perpetual
Member, Brother Michael Bennett. For those who are not familiar
with Perpetual Membership, it is a method in which you can pay of
your dues for life. With the exception of assessments, a perpetual
member is released from all future dues to his lodge, even if those
dues go up or he moves his membership to another lodge in FloridThe money is invested by the Grand Lodge and the earnings are
paid back to each lodge annually which means that a Perpetual
Members will still be helping his lodge centuries later. Thanks to
all our perpetual members for helping our lodge for generations to
come.
We will have our official visit of the District Deputy
Grand Master, RW Frank Kleese, on August 1. Please join us in
giving a warm welcome to him and his party. Also remember tha
the DDGMs committeemen spend time away from their own
lodges and families promoting the various charities we support.
While dealing with the legalities and formalities of this fraternity, i
is easy to forget the heart of why we are here. If you are able, please be prepared to help out these charities with your time and
money and make these mens visit to our lodge worthwhile.
August should be a nice break from the busy year we have had
thus far. We have several petitions being investigated and several
brothers working on catechisms, so September should bring more
degree work. If your cable tow only affords you a few nights out a
month, this would be a great month to join us at the School of
Instruction and at the District Association Meeting.

Im sure that you are all aware that if you are suspended byour home Lodge, your membership in the Scottish Rite, York Riteand the Shrine will be cancelled also.
Secretarys Corner
This month Im not going to mention those forty someBrothers who have not paid their 2011 dues! Even though
they were notified last year, reminded every month in theTrestleboard, received a letter in July on pretty yellowpaper and will receive another more formal letter in
September as a reminder. Of course this will be followedin December by suspension, if not paid. There, Im glad Ididnt have to mention that again this month.
A Masonic Lodge is not just a building. Its a group of
men who have decided at one time or another to become amember of the fraternity. As of right now we have raised 9new Master Masons this year. There are four or five that arestudying and will probably be raised this year. If you do thesimple arithmetic, gaining 10 or 12 new members each year
but losing 40 or more to suspension means that YOURLodge will cease to exist in just a few years. Are youwilling to let that happen?
Being a Mason is very important to me and Im sure itwas important to you when you joined. A Lodge cannotfunction if the members stay away and dont participate in thework to be done. Come out, have a good meal, attend themeeting and help out with the work.
