Mayor Hagen called the August 15, 2018 Village of Cremona Public Hearing to order at 

_________ p.m. 

This is a public hearing regarding Village of Cremona Bylaw 484‐18 is to solicit comments on proposed 

road closure of all that portion of lane created on Plan 981 0006 that is adjacent to Lot 1 and Lot 2 

containing 0.061 ha. (0.151 ac.) more or less. 

A map of the proposed road closure is on the screen. 

The proposed closure is intended to be in compliance with Alberta Transportation Regulations regarding 

access off of Highway 580 (Railway Avenue) for the proposed subdivision on the lands zoned Direct 

Control (DC) along the east side of the highway.  

In accordance with section 230(4) of the Municipal Government Act, in a public hearing, council must 

hear any person, group of persons, or person representing them, who claims to be affected by the 

proposed bylaw and who has complied with the procedures outlined by the council.

TITLE: Bylaw – 484‐18 Road Closure

BACKGROUND / PROPOSAL: 

Bylaw 484‐18 was presented at the June 19, 2018 Regular Council Meeting and was given first reading. 

This is a public hearing regarding Bylaw 484‐18 Village of Cremona Bylaw for the purpose of closing 

public travel certain roads, or portions thereof, situated in the said municipality, and therefore disposing 

of same.  The subject site is situated along the south side of Railway Avenue to the west. 

The site is currently zoned Direct Control District (DC).   

 

DISCUSSION / OPTIONS / BENEFITS / DISADVANTAGES:   

In accordance with section 230(4) of the Municipal Government Act, in a public hearing, council must hear any person, group of persons, or person representing them, who claims to be affected by the proposed bylaw and who has complied with the procedures outlined by the council. 

Notices were posted on the Village Website, and in the July 3 and 10th editions of the Mountain View Gazette. 

Members of the public must state their name and address prior to speaking.  Letters that have been submitted will be read out by the Chief Administrative Officer or designate.

ROAD CLOSURE 

A Bylaw of the Village of Cremona in the Province of Alberta for the purpose of closing public travel and 

disposing of portions of a public highway in accordance with Section 22 of the Municipal Government 

Act, Chapter M26.1, Revised Statutes Of Alberta 2000, as amended. 

WHEREAS the lands hereafter described are no longer required for public travel, and 

WHEREAS application has been made to Council to have the highway closed, and 

WHEREAS the Council of the Village of Cremona deems it expedient to provide for a bylaw for the 

purpose of closing to public travel certain roads, or portions thereof, situated in the said municipality, 

and therefore disposing of same, and 

WHEREAS notice of the intention of Council to pass a bylaw has been given in accordance with Section 

606 of the Municipal Government Act, and  

WHEREAS Council was not petitioned for an opportunity to be heard by any person claiming to be 

prejudicially affected by the bylaw 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of Cremona in the Province of Alberta does hereby 

close to public travel for the purpose of disposing of the following lane, subject to rights of access 

granted by other legislation: 

All that portion of Lane created on Plan 981 0006 that is adjacent to Lot 1 and Lot 2containing 0.061 ha. (0.151 ac.) more or less 

EXCEPTING THEREOUT ALL MINES AND MINERALS
