Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 One of my favorite movies growing up was Escape from Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood in the title role as Frank Morris, one of the men involved in the June 1962 escape. I saw it for the first time while staying with my grandparents, and it became a routine to watch it with my grandpa. Please note: If for some reason you are not available to help on the day that you volunteered to work, we ask that you please don’t forget to find a replacement for yourself so there is adequate coverage during the worship service. Also, if you have a change in the schedule for the children’s nursery or children’s church, please contact the monthly coordinator so that the change can be made prior to the printing of the worship bulletin. However, any permanent changes in the schedule should continue to be handled by the lead coordinator.

Thank you for all your help.

KINGS DOMINION – Due to sev-eral vacations and summer events many could not go on the original date. Never fear, we are moving the date to Saturday, Au-gust 16. The cost is $38.00 and the due date is Sunday, August 10. Let Pastor Joe know today. DNOW @ CAMP CASWELL – Sign up for DNOW! The weekend has changed to September 27-28. DNOW is hosting an event at Camp Caswell on Oak Island. Tony Nolan of TNT ministries will be speaking at the camp and worship will be led by the DNOW band. The theme of this DNOW is Rise. The website (www.dnowcaswell.org) states, "As a collection of churches gath-ered together, we want to see stu-

dents RISE to a higher degree in the most important areas of life." The total cost is $70, which in-cludes our stay, a T-shirt, and lunch & dinner on Saturday. A deposit of $10 is due by July 27. The remainder is due upon arri-val. Please note that anyone not meeting the July 27 deadline will not be guaranteed a spot. More information, including a schedule of events, pics, and video can be found on the website. Rise to the occasion and speak with Pastor Joe to sign up. Some of you have never been to Caswell and some are veterans who love it. Reserve your spot ASAP. BIBLE STUDIES – Reminder that we have bible study each Wednesday night at 6:30 PM. We

are going through the Gospel Pro-ject: God’s Story from Lifeway. It gives students a foundation in

I also mention this with thanksgiving for the Knightdale Baptist Church Worship Choir. I am grateful for each choir member, their love and faithful dedication for the Lord and willingness to

In a recent post on the Baptist State Convention Renewing Worship blog, Thom Rainer, president and CEO of Lifeway Christian Resources, wrote of Nine Rapid Changes in Church Worship Services. The information was taken from The National Congregations Study by Duke University from 2007. One of the major changes mentioned in the study was the fact that church choirs are disappear-ing. From 1998 to 2007, the percentage of churches with choirs decreased from 54% to

lead the congregation in worship. Also, I appreciate their willingness to learn new worship songs to help meet the needs of our con-gregation. If you are looking for a place
