CARD ON RIBBON You show your audience a closed card case, the case has a hole through it from front to back. You hand out a

ribbon for examination. You open the case, and take out the deck and show that there's nothing hidden in the

case, show the deck on both sides. Aside from the hole through each card, it's an ordinary deck. A spectator

freely chooses a card, let's say the five of hearts. The card, which can be signed, is lost in the deck, which is

then cleanly replaced in its case. Show everything from all sides. As the case is open, everyone can see the

cards inside. Now invite your spectator to thread the ribbon through the case with the cards in-

side. Explain to your spectator that it is completely impossible to free any one card without

damaging it or cutting the ribbon. This is so obvious, no one will contradict you. With the

case still open, and the spectator having a firm hold on the ends of the ribbon, the escape of any card would

be totally impossible! With your thumb and forefinger, you then gently pull out one card from the deck, then

yank it free. There you are with one card in hand - a lone, liberated card! You now show the card to your

spectator - of course, it's the five of hearts previously chosen! How is this possible, since the hole through the

five is still intact, with absolutely no damage? The card seems to have passed through the ribbon by magic.

And yet, the ribbon still binds the rest of the cards in the deck! Remove the deck from the case and immedi-

ately pass it out for examination. As your spectator can see, the ribbon still passes through all of the cards

CHAIN THROUGH SWORD Here's a great effect for close-up magic - an impossible solid-through-solid demonstration!

Two cards, each with a hole in the centre, are placed on a stand. The magician inserts a chain

between the two cards and rests on the table. A plastic sword then goes through both cards

and remains in place. To prove that the sword is solid and is impaling the cards, the chain is

raised and lifts both cards in the air. NOW for the magic! The magician pulls the chain, and it

Smiley by Alan Warner With this effect you show a small wooden box, open at one end. You tip it, and a blue sad faced disc falls

out. You place the disc back in, and turn the box over. You tip it again, and the blue sad face

disc falls out. You repeat this a few times, saying that the sad face always appears. The spec-

tator assumes that the disc is double sided, but you can show that there is a sad face on only

ONE side! You now put the sad face disc back in the box, and say that the disc is 'tired' and

that's why he's sad. You now say that when the trick is over, he becomes happy, and when you tip the disc

out now, it is shown to have a yellow smiley face! Quick reset, and spectator can examine the

The Mummy by Alan Warner The performer removes the lid from a plain wooden sarcophagus to reveal an Egyptian

Mummy reclining in an open coffin. The coffin containing the Mummy is removed

and the performer then demonstrates the Mummy’s mysterious power TO FLOAT

UNSUPPORTED IN THE COFFIN. The coffin with the floating Mummy is returned

to the plain sarcophagus and the lid is replaced. A second sarcophagus is then shown

empty, this sarcophagus differing from the first in that it has a decorated lid. The per-

former states that the Mummy has the power not only to float unaided but also demate-

rialise and materialize, and goes on to prove this by reopening the plain sarcophagus to

reveal that THE COFFIN IS NOW EMPTY. On removing the lid of the decorated sar-

cophagus, THE MUMMY IS NOW SEEN TO BE INSIDE THIS SARCOPHAGUS.

Geometric by Alan Warner A spectator is given a free choice from three small pieces of plastic, each of which has one of

three different geometrical shapes cut out of its centre – namely, a square, a triangle or a cir-

cle. The spectator’s piece of plastic is placed beside a small wooden cover which has been on

display from the outset. Inside this cover there is a shallow tray. The performer now tips the tray out of the

cover to reveal that it contains a single piece of plastic which also has a geometrical shape cut out of the

centre of it. This cut out shape MATCHES THE SPECTATOR’S SELECTED GEOMETRICAL

Runic by Alan Warner The Performer displays a box which contains a complete set of wooden Viking runes,

then demonstrates that by shaking the box, a rune can be cast onto the table via a slot

at one end of the box. Two runes are cast in this fashion and then replaced by the per-

former back inside the box with the others. A spectator is now asked to hold the box

and give it a shake to cast two runes for himself in a random selection from all twenty-

five runes in the runic alphabet. The selected runes are placed on top of two previ-

ously shown blank wooden plaques. The spectator is now asked to remove the two

runes and the top plaque. Mysteriously, the symbols on the runes cast by the spectator have been BURNT

BLIND DATE by Eric Williams Here is another find from the Merlins Vaults it is an original from Supreme Magic. In effect the magician

enlist the help of two gentlemen from the audience. He explains that they are all going to go out on an imagi-

nary dinner date. They are to randomly select a lady to partner them on the date. The magician

introduces three large (8” x 10”) cards which he says are images of the available ladies, the la-

dies are not shown as the choices are to be random. On the reverse side of the lady cards is a

number. The magician mixes the cards face down and places each card into its own window envelope, the

numbers are clearly visible through the windows. Each gentleman is given a completely free choice of num-

ber and are even allowed to change their mind if they wish. Once the gentlemen are happy the magician gets

the remaining card. Upon revealing the gentlemen's choices they have landed a date with two shockers (as the

original instructions describe them!) and the magician has the glamour model. Probably not politically correct

C-Psych by 3D Magic Works A small stand with three different coloured round pieces (red, green & blue) with bronze bases are pre-

sented. Each of the circular spaces that hold the coloured pieces are numbered 1, 2 or

3. The performer turns his/her back to the spectator and instructs the spectator to THINK

of (and not reveal) any of the three coloured pieces. The performer then instructs the spec-

tator to swap the other two (non selected) colours from one space to the other. Now, the spectator has

silently thought of a colour and has mixed up the order of the pieces, next the spectator is told that he/she

may make as many two piece swaps as they would like while calling out the numbers of the pieces being

swapped. Once the spectator is satisfied with mixing up the coloured pieces, the performer turns around

CARD PUNCH by 3D Magic (Ball and Die Version) The performer removes a thin, ornate, rectangular apparatus from a stand. The round

cap, in the centre of the apparatus, is removed to reveal a round hole. The spectator

can now see the round hole does in fact go completely through the card sleeve. A

regular, examined playing card is inserted into the sleeve. The performer explains

that this card sleeve is actually a “Card Punch” The performer now removes the steel

ball from the stand and places it inside of the round hole of the card sleeve , the ball laying on top of the

playing card. The performer picks up the round cap and places it over the steel ball and pushes the cap

down. The performer removes the round cap to reveal that the steel ball is no longer in the round

hole. The playing card can still be seen through the round hole . The performer picks up the card sleeve to

reveal the steel ball resting in their open palm. The performer places the steel ball on the stand and then

removes the playing card from the card sleeve to reveal that the steel ball had penetrated clear through the

playing card without causing any damage to the playing card at all. The performer turns the round cap over

to show nothing could fit inside of it and that only one ball was used. Punch Card (Steel Ball) includes an

This brand new close up illusion is available in two versions. One version uses the steel ball and the

THE COLOUR OF MUMMY The performer presents an ornate stand with two unique boxes dis-

played upon it. The stand and boxes are seen to have Egyptian hi-

eroglyphics and decorations on them. The larger box (tomb box)

houses a sarcophagus. The sarcophagus is slid out. The performer

removes the lid of the sarcophagus to reveal an all-White Mummy

resting inside. The Mummy is removed and the inside of the sar-

cophagus is shown to have black sides/inner walls with a majestic

red velvet lined bottom. The White Mummy is returned to the sar-

cophagus and the lid is replaced. The closed sarcophagus is then returned to the outer tomb box and is set

to the side. The performer removes the second box and the lid is removed the box contains another smaller

box, and six coloured chips; Blue, Gold, Green, Purple, Red and Silver. The spectator selects a chip in a

very fair manner. The performer then removes the lid of the sarcophagus to reveal that the Mummy inside

Hip' N Hop' N Spot by 3D Magic Works

The performer brings forward two stands with ornate covers and places them next to each other, one on the

left and one on the right. The left cover has a black magicians hat with white bunny ears,

poking out of the top, on the front and backside and the right has a red magicians hat with

white bunny ears, also poking out of the top, on the front and the backside. The performer re-

moves the covers to reveal a coloured spot domino under each stand. Under the black hat

cover is a domino with black spots and under the red hat cover is a domino with red spots. The performer

then spins the two covered stands around (back side now facing front) and switches the place of the two

stands, black hat cover & stand is now on the right and red hat cover & stand on the left. When the covers

are removed, the red spotted domino is found under the black hat cover and the black spotted domino is seen

under the red hat cover. The performer then explains that those pesky rabbits can reverse what they have

done. The covered stands are then spun around again and the stands are switched back to the original start-

ing positions, the black hat cover & stand is on the left and the red hat cover & stand on the right. The spec-

tator does not seem to be too impressed and thinks he/she knows what the performer has done. The specta-

tor speaks up and says to the performer "All you did was turn the stand around to show that the colour spots

changed places." The performer then pick up each of the covered stand (one at a time) and, while keeping

the same cover side facing the spectator, does an propeller style spin and sets the stand back down in the

same spot. When finished spinning both covered stands, the covers are removed to show the spots are the

same colour as before the performer "propeller spun" them. "See, spinning them had no effect on the col-

oured spots", the spectator says. "No, you turned them around . . . front to back". The performer says "That

really can't be right, because those rabbits placed completely different colours on the back side." The per-

former then spins the un-covered dominoes around to reveal an orange spotted domino and a blue spotted

DOM SPOTS by 3D MAGIC WORKS The spectator is asked to make a ‘domino’ using pegs provided, and a holed

domino which is contained within an ornate box. The performer states that they

knew all along what domino the spectator would create with the pegs, the per-

former states that he/she had made a prediction and that it is on the back side of

the very domino the spectator just created. The performer turns the domino

over to reveal that their prediction is exactly as the spectator created. The spec-

tator, obviously unimpressed by this, points out that the pegs go through the

domino and of course the back side would be the exact same. The performer, un-phased by the spectators

observation, reveals from within the box, which had been in view the whole time, and untouched by the per-

former until this point, their prediction that matched what the spectator had just created with the pegs . . .

JUMPIN by 3D Magic Works A stand with a paddle and a brass pin are presented. The

paddle is removed to show both sides and three holes in the paddle. The brass pin is now removed from the

stand and is placed into the middle hole of the paddle. The performer shows both sides of the paddle and

that the pin is through the middle hole. Without touching the pin, the performer shows how the pin quickly

jumps from the centre hole to one of the outer holes. The performer then takes the pin out of

the end hole and replaces it into the middle hole of the paddle, once again showing both sides

of the paddle and the pin going through the middle hole. Then, all of a sudden, the pin jumps

again to the other outer hole of the paddle. When placed back into the centre hole it just keeps jumping to

Ultimate Mental Boxes by Magic Wagon Six small boxes and six numbered chips are displayed. While the performer’s back is turned, a spectator

is asked to mix the chips thoroughly and then to place one chip in each of the boxes so to create a six

digit number, for example let’s say the number is “326415”. Each of the boxes are then closed and mixed

completely by the spectator. Once the performer turns around, he is able to reveal the exact

six digit random number selected!

Please note that six numbers in total can now be used, which was not possible with

any other version that we have previously produced!

TEMPLE OF DIVINATION by Magic Wagon The performer displays a beautiful wooden cabinet along with three wooden

blocks, numbered 1, 2 and 3. While the performer’s back is turned, a spectator

is invited to arrange the blocks in any order and then close the door of the cabi-

net. The performer now turns around and asks the spectator to place the cabinet

onto his open hands; immediately the performer reveals the correct order of the

blocks inside! This elegant illusion is fully automatic with no sleight of hand

involved to make the divination! The effect is entirely self-contained and nothing is added or taken

away! A multiple-phases routine can also be performed and it can be immediately repeated with a differ-

ent outcome! The effect is performed in full view and the cabinet never leaves the view of the spectator,

not even for an instant! Hundreds of hours have gone into the development of this mechanical marvel;

unlike other similar effects presented to the magic fraternity, there are no secret sliding panels of any

GHOST BOX

A beautiful wooden box is displayed. The front door is opened and a large brass nut and bolt is seen rest-

ing on a red velvet platform. The nut and bolt are both examined and placed separately back onto the vel-

vet platform. The door is now closed and it is shown that nothing is connected above or below the box.

The door is opened again and it is seen that the nut has now mysteriously threaded itself

onto the bolt! The nut and bolt are again handed out for examination. This is just one of

many effects that are possible with the versatile Ghost Box! The effect is completely self-

contained and can be performed surrounded! The method is absolutely ingenious and

completely mechanical in operation! The spectator can thoroughly examine the threaded nut and bolt!

This is a very clever mechanical device that will open the doors to several incredible effects. The myster-

ies that can be created are limited only by one’s imagination. It comes complete with everything you need

NOTHING TO LOSE by Bob Farmer Here is another treasure find from the Merlin Vaults. Nothing To Lose is the strangest, weirdest, most im-

possible 3 Card Monte you'll ever perform. The Card the spectators can't follow is not only a different col-

our than the other cards, it has a hole the size of a fifty cent piece drilled right though it!! Two solid blue

cards sandwich the red card with the large hole through it. The red hole card vanishes and appears on the

bottom of the packet. Suddenly the red hole card vanishes from the hands and reappears on the table.

Trapped on the table, the red hole card vanishes again and reappears in the hands. The

Headhunter by Bob Farmer This great piece of close up card magic has been unavailable for many years, we have unearthed a few cop-

ies of this in the Merlin vaults and are happy to offer this in a very limited quantity to our customers. Eight

cards are shown. Seven are blank. One is a face card, the jack of hearts. The cards are divided into two

piles. The jack of hearts vanishes from one pile and appears face up in the other. Now the

jack visibly vanishes from the hands and appears back on the table face up. This is re-

peated, but no matter how closely the audience watches, the jack visibly vanishes and ap-

pears back on the table. Suddenly, all of the blank cards visibly transform themselves into jacks!...£12.00

DOUBLE HOLE GUILLOTINE A wooden frame and a shinny silver plate is shown to the audience. The Wooden frame and the plate has

two large holes in them. The plate is raised and both wrists of a spectator, or one wrist from two separate

spectators are inserted in the holes provided in the frame. If you wish, you can handcuff the spectators

wrists for extra effect. After suitable byplay to build up tension, the plate is forced down

into the frame. The solid plate miraculously passes through both wrists! When the plate is re-

leased from the frame, the wrists are seen to have completely bypassed the holes in the

pendant itself) is dipped into the deck. Either of two things now happen. 1. The pendant vanishes to be re-

placed by the signed card LEGITIMATLEY UPON THE CHAIN. Or 2. The signed card magically appears
