EJMS FFA Receives 3-Star Chapter Honors EJMS FFA was honored
for this award at the August
Jackson County Board Meet-
ing at East Jackson Elemen-
tary School by CTAE Direc-
tor, Mr. Todd Shultz. EJMS
FFA President, Meghan
Cheatham, attended and ac-
cepted this honor.
Two members of EJMS
FFA will get to walk across
the National FFA Convention
stage in Louisville, KY in Oc-
tober.
The National Chapter
Award Program is designed
to award FFA chapters that
actively implement the mis-
sion and strategies of the
organization.
EJMS FFA followed a Pro-
gram of Activities that the
EJMS FFA officers created at
the 2014-2015 chapter officer
leadership retreat. The offic-
ers planned activities in the
areas of student, chapter, and
community development.
The EJMS FFA national
chapter application was
ranked a Gold Emblem chap-
ter in the state of Georgia.
This honor was only given to
the top 10% of FFA chapters
in Georgia (27 total). The
Gold Emblem chapters were
sent to the National competi-
tion to be judged.
At the National level,
EJMS was named a 3-Star FFA
Chapter — the highest level
awarded to chapters!
A few of our FFA mem-
bers raise and show market
goats for their Supervised
Agriculture Experience (SAE)
projects. Several of our offic-
ers have shown goats for
many years.
Cale says, “ You have to
walk your goats and take care
of them everyday. When you
place in a show, you make
money.”
Bella really enjoys work-
ing with her goats because
“they are friendly and a lot of
fun!”
Sammy puts in many
hours of hard work, but “it’s
all worth it in the end!”
Goats are so much fun to
work with and showing them
is a neat project to begin. It
teaches responsibility and the
value of hardwork.
