POP • The genre is stereotyped to be associated amongst young

females. The target age is usually 11-14 year old girls. The social class tends to be working class students who's parents work and pay for their music needs. The ethnicity tends to be white British who’s interests are pop music, going out with friends and prefer to strive for the girly look. They tend to wear pretty dresses, with curled hair and a hint of make-up. They listen to pop music because it reflects their mood. Pop music connotated as bubbly and happiness which is also associated with young girls. They listen to music very frequently, as it can be a way to relax or dance/sing to.

• Male R&B artists usually target a female audience because the male artists are portrayed as sexy or in a sexual way through their lyrics and nudity. The female audience will find this attractive and appealing because they will be physically attracted to the artist. However the male audience will be attracted to the jewellery worn, cars, cash/wealth, fashion and women in minimal clothing.

• R&B fans are usually from a African American black background due to R&B being rhythm, blues and soul which comes from African America in the 1950's. This type of music would be something their parents and grandparents would have listened to interesting their children in the same type of music.

R&B

R&B audiences are usually teenagers and young adults between the ages of 13 to 25 and are mostly females. This could be due to the explicit lyrics, artists, music and how the music videos are shot and what they contain within them. Females are usually targeted by R&B artists because they stereo typically write songs about love, being in love and heartbreak these type of songs will appeal to teenage girls and young adults as it usually relates to them. Fast R&B songs usually will attract to women as they involve fashion and synergy within the narrative or theme.

HIP HOP• The primary demographic consists of mostly of working class

African American males ranging from the ages of 11-36. it also extends to a range of African and Caribbean cultures. However its success in the mainstream industry has widened the demographic significantly to suburban Caucasian adolescents and young adults in education, specifically from the ages of 11-25. the ABC1s of the target audience are particularly important as the music and the cultures focus on class and its association with politics, social status, money and power.

• The psychographics of Hip Hop’s target audience include activities like predominantly American, and in particular African American sports. For example basketball players. With interests such as music production, rapping/singing and urban artwork. However a huge aspect of Hip Hop is its focus on contemporary fashion, African American fashion, pop culture, black history and black politics. Often its target audience embodies this in their lifestyle and in the culture’s ever changing trends.

DANCE

The genre is focused at the younger generation and is most popular with people between the ages of 16-15. people who listen to dance music tend to have high disposable income and a high tendency to spend their money on: nights out, clothes, festivals, tunes and the latest phone/headphones. They are always the first to hear a new song, have the latest clothing and be at the hottest club and move on quickly before it gets old. They tend to be the largest downloader of music.
