ALTERNATIVE ROCK

Audience

Page 2: Audience

Primary Audience

The primary audience of music video would be fans of Kodaline as the song would be on their album and therefore the fans would watch the video.

Also, it could be people who are just a fan of the alternative rock genre and not necessarily just Kodaline.

Secondary Audience

Although it is less-likely, those who are dancers and enjoy dancing may watch this video because of the content. For example, in a dance course they may have to analyse a performance music video in which case this would fit perfectly.

However, I think that the primary audience would be the ones to watch this more often.

Who are they?

I think the sort of people that would watch my video would be avid listeners of music as alternative rock artists tend to be more about the music/lyrics rather than like within pop music where it’s also a lot about the appearance and image of the artists.

They wouldn’t shop in many high street shops and I imagine them to shop more in places such as Urban Outfitters, or other vintage shops. This way it gives them a very quirky, unique look about themselves. Also, as fans of rock music typically have a lot of band merchandise, possible band t-shirts and other items of clothing could be worn.

They would be the type of people that attend many festivals and gigs such as Reading and Leeds Festival where Kodaline performed in 2013.

Other possible bands they could like would include You Me At Six, Bastille, The 1975, All Time Low etc.

Who are they?

Mainly I think Kodaline and my music video would appeal to females over men (65:35) around the ages of 16-28.

As Kodaline are from Ireland, they would have a big fan base in their hometown of Dublin and therefore creating a wider market for my music video.

The fans would like to keep up to date with what the artists are up to and when their latest gigs and performances are and therefore I think they would depend on social media/networking quite heavily to ensure they constantly know the latest news about them. Also, they would frequently visit Kodaline’s website and their blogs.

Along with digital media, they would read magazines such as Kerrang and NME which is where Alternative Rock artists are usually written about. Again, they would have the up to date news and articles about their favourite artists.
