Quick reference guide

Dear Audi Driver,

The central locking systemlocks and unlocks all the doors, the boot lid and the tank flap. It can be operatedwith the remote control or byturning the key in the lock.

Operating the radio-activated remote controlPress the appropriate button for about 1 second.1 Unlocking button Open one of the doors or theboot lid within about 60 sec-onds, otherwise the vehicle will lock itself again automat-ically.2 Unlocking button

for boot lidPress the button for at least 1 second.3 Locking buttonThe turn signals will flash brieflywhen the car is locked to con-firm that the doors and the bootlid are closed properly.4 Folding out

the master keyPress the release button.

Folding away the master key

Press the button and fold thekey away.Note: Press and hold unlockingbutton on remote control

(or turn and hold key in lock on driver’s door) toopen all the windows.

Press and hold locking buttonon remote control (or turn andhold key in lock on driver’sdoor) to close all the windowsand the sun roof.Warning: The doors and win-dows cannot be opened frominside the vehicle if it has been locked from the outside.Anti-theft alarmThe alarm system is auto-matically set when the car islocked. The alarm system isswitched off automaticallywhen you unlock the vehiclewith the remote control.Note: If you unlock the vehicleby inserting the key in the dri-ver’s door, the ignition must be switched on within 15 sec-onds, otherwise the alarm willbe triggered. If you unlock theboot lid by turning the key inthe slot, the alarm will be trig-gered immediately.

ADJUSTING FRONT SEATS

1 Adjusting head restraints

Move the head restraint up ordown.2 Releasing backrests

– Easy entry feature(two-door models only)

Lift the release catch and tipthe backrest forwards. Theseat is raised slightly andmoves forwards with thebackrest.3 Adjusting angle of

backrestLean forwards and turn adjuster wheel.4 Adjusting seat heightThe seat height is adjusted bypulling or pushing the lever.5 Adjusting lumbar

support (Ergomatic)Press the appropriate sectionof the control to increase ordecrease the thickness of thepadding in the backrest.

6 Moving seat backwardsor forwards

Lift the handle and move theseat.Adjusting belt heightSlide theguide up ordown. Tugthe belt tocheck that the catch is engaged properly.

REAR SEAT

Folding down rear seatThe rear backrest is split intotwo sections. The seat cush-ions can be folded down either separately or together.Remove the rear head re-straints. Lift the seat cushion1 forward using the strap 2.Take hold of the back of theseat cushion 3 and tilt it up-right. Push the release lever 4in direction indicated (arrow),and fold down the backrest 5.If the car has a one-piece rearseat, press both release leversto fold the backrest down.

Setting up rear seatReturn the rear backrest 5 toan upright position and makesure that it has engaged pro-perly. Move the seat cushion 1back into place. First push itall the way in at the back, thenpress it down at the front sothat it engages securely. Holdthe centre seat belt whiledoing this to prevent it frombeing caught between theseat cushion and backrest.Refit the rear head restraints.

Seat belts must be worn onevery journey, even on shorttrips in town. This applies tothe front and rear seats. Toensure that the seat belts, belttensioners and airbags are fullyeffective, note the followingpoints:

SAFETY

Children under 12 should tra-vel on the rear seat. Theymust be protected by a childrestraint system which com-plies with the European stan-dard ECE R 44 and is suitablefor the child’s weight andheight. The safest place forthe child restraint system isbehind the front passenger’sseat. Make sure that thesystem is properly secured.The retractor mechanism ofthe seat belts can be lockedto secure a child safety seat.Please observe the notes inthe Audi Owner's Manual andrefer to the manufacturer'sinstructions for the child seat.

Category 0 or 0+: For babiesup to about 9 months/ 10 kgand infants up to about 18 months/ 13 kg.

Category 1: For small children up to about 4 years of age/ 18 kg.Category 2: For children upto about 7 years/ 25 kg.Category 3: Children over 7 years of age but less than 1.5 metres tall are best pro-tected by a booster cushionin conjunction with the three-point seat belt.

Adjust seat and sit incorrect positionThe front seats should not bepositioned too close to thesteering wheel or dashboard.Maintain a distance of atleast 25 cm from the steeringwheel. It is important to sit ina normal, upright position andset the backrest so it is fullyagainst your back. The top ofthe head restraint should beat eye level (or higher). Put

your feet in a comfortableposition in the footwell.

Wear the seat belt correctlyMake sure that the shouldersection of the belt is posi-tioned over the centre of theshoulder, and move the lapsection as far down over thehips as possible. The beltsshould always be worn sothat they fit tightly (see illus-tration).

Opening the tank flapOpen the tank flap as illustra-ted. Unscrew the filler capand hook it onto the tank flap. Stickers for:

On 2-door models, press theadjuster to move the mirrorsurface in the desired direc-tion. On 4-door models, turnthe knob. The mirrors areheated when the ignitionis on.

Press the switch briefly tomove window all the waydown. Lift the switch brieflyto move the window all theway up. The window can bestopped in any position bybriefly pressing the switchagain. On 4-door models, the rearwindows can be deactivatedby pressing the safetyswitch.
