Introduction
The Auction House (AH) is the foundation to every method of gold collection. You will
need to learn how to use the auction house successfully in order to bring in masses of
gold.
The AH will serve as a downfall or a huge income for your characters. You will learn
about the pitfalls of the AH, how to overcome them, and then take advantage over
those who continue to fail to overcome those same pitfalls.
To understand the AH you will need to understand your servers economy. You are
going to buy for low and sell for high. To be able to do this you must know the
averages prices on your server.
There are so many items that it's impossible for us to keep a good and accurate
knowledge of item prices, we can easily size up the range of item prices but this wont
make us maximum profits.
In order to collect, analyze, and store data you are going to need to grab Auctioneer .
Auctioneer is an add-on that is like having an AH brain at your finger tips. It will guide
you to make correct decisions while playing the market. However even with such apowerful tool it is not always 100% correct.

Just scanning the AH and randomly buying things will lose you a lot of gold.
That's why I created this portion of the guide. You will understand how the Auction
house works and how you can make loads of gold.
I created guidelines or steps to start using the AH effectively. Read through the
guidelines, and then finish the guide. It may all be confusing at first but everything gets
explained by the end.
If you are still unsure about some of the points inside of the guide, come back and
read the guidelines. The guidelines are the basics to the AH strategy that I use daily.
In a nut shell, we buy for low and sell for high. Back at one time I was using the
Auction House on 9 Different servers.
I was able to dominate the economy on all of these servers thanks to the tools I have
listed for you. (Yes the word dominate rings true. I have sold over 100,000g to chinese
farmers and have been very successful in farming gold. You can read more about this,
google: The Pathway to 27,000g.)
The tools are just add-ons, but they are very important.
Make sure you download and use each of the add-ons. They will store, collect,
organize all the data you need for running the auction house.

Auctioneer:
Auctioneer is the most powerful add-on in the game. This will scan the auction house
for you, collect data on price listings and translate the information to you so you can
use the data to base your idea on bids, listings, and buy-outs.
LootLink:
Stores all the information of actual items. Very handy to use when looking for specific
items to sell or buy in a certain category. It gathers information from chat links, from
auction house listings, inventories and other players when you inspect them.

CT_MailMod:
Simple add-on to make mailling a lot easier on you. Give you the ability to mass-mail
which simply gives you the ability to send around 21-30 items all at the same time to
the same player (Mainly used from your main character to your mule character)
Also gives you the open all ability, so when you have all your auction winnings, and
auction sales, and out-bids coming in, you can open them all up at once instead of one
by one. HUGE time saver.

The Auction House 5kg Theory
Since the release of my guide I have help players reach their specific goal of gold depending
on exactly what it is. I have helped players one-on-one and most of the time I just convert
them into full-time auction house players.
The Auction house is the most powerful gold farming technique because any class can use it,
any level, and with any amount of gold, you can double, triple and quadruple the gold you
have.
I have noticed the most common mistake with the auction house isn't actually a mistake that
loses money, but it loses profits. In theory it loses money, but it's money never gained. This
section is going to fix this.
This is the single most important part of the guide because this section can be applied to
EVERY section of the guide and you can use it for nearly everything. The 5,000g Theory is
simply a thought process that you can use to make more gold.
The most common mistake is not maximizing your profits on the Auction house. Many players
are only using one section of the auction house, or one technique for the auction house, and
this in return does not maximize profits.
Here's the basics. Most players find out one method that works for them. They take this
method and use it over and over, and they don't expound or learn any more strategies. After a
while they think this is the only method that works and they forget to continue to push.
The 5,000g theory is nothing special at all. You just need to DO EVERYTHING. This may
seem very difficult but it's not. You can't just simply run auction house scans, run a few macro

scans, and then expect Auctioneer to do all the work for you. It will never work the way you
want. You will want to disect this guide, use EVERY strategy as a daily cycle. Each time you
approach the auction house with gold on your mind (or even those few times where you are
there to buy) you will want to take ALL of these idea's into mind.
Ever y Cloth In The Auction House
Ever y Weapon in the Auction House
Ever y Armor In the Auction House
Ever y Potion in The Auction House
Ever y Gem In the Auction HouseEver y Herb In the Auction House
Ever y Ore In the Auction House
Ever y Quest Item in the Auction House
Ever y Enchanting Material in the Auction House
Ever y Recipe/Scroll/Schematic etc. in the Auction House
Ever y Vanity Item in the Auctoin House
Ever y Vendor Item (Yes some still exist) In the Auctoin House
That right there is a very broad list of 12 different sections you can look for deals.
Those are just your manual searches. You still h ave simple strategies to thing about when
you approach the auction house, those are:

Bottom Scanner
Macro Scans

You should really use all of these methods when it comes to the Auction House. I get too
many emails saying that these players are not making gold like they should be but when I
question what they are doing, they are only using the bottom scanner, or only selling
enchanting items, or only using Auctioneer.
The 5,000g theory is my thought process when it comes to Gold Farming. You want to find a
profitable method and continue to use that each day. The most common goal is 500g a day.
(Which is easily obtainable just from grinding, even easier when it comes to Auction House).
After 10 days you will have your epic mount.
The first step you need to take is to find some profitable items on the AH, buy them, and re list
them.
If you plan to use the auction house to make thousands of gold you are going to have to put in
the time and experience to learn. When I learned the Auction House I had nothing that would
speed that process up. I did not have the tools available now.
There's also another great tool that you can use to get a giant advantage on the Auction
House.
Http://www.WoWecon.com It's only $3.33 a month for the premium membership and it is is
totally worth it. If you don't have the money for it that's fine you can still use the tool to find
item prices and compar e prices.

Kick back and make some money! (Bottom Scanner)
I never really relied on this strategy because I honestly thought it was over rated. I have been
playing the Auction house for 2 years, and I guess you could say I didn't like this idea
because I was too stubborn. It seemed way to easy, so I automatically assumed Something
this easy can't possibly work so I completely ignored it.
Bottom Scanner is one of the most easiest, care free ways to make money from the auction
house. It's a built in add-on (if you download the full package). When you go to the auction
house you can scan with Bottom scanner, and it will display auctions that are listed
ridiculously low (mainly with buyouts) that you can buy and resell.
Note: his is not 100% full-proof or guaranteed money. You still have to use wisdom
and double check your bids/buyouts before you go through with ANYTHING. Just
because a program shows you you can profit, doesn't mean it's 100% correct. Please
do not rely on this fully, because remember it's still a program, and it can make errors.
1. When you go to the auction house click on the BTMscan tab.
2. Press the Big yellow Play button.
3. Grab a coffee, read further in this guide, read the news, do something to occupy your
time as bottom scanner is searching for deals.
4. After it's done searching it will ask you if you want to purchase the items listed.
If you have been searching with Auctioneer for a while, then you can hover over those items,
and see their usual listing price. However if you haven't you will want to proceed with extreme
caution because it goes off of it's own pricing system. It's very smart to check the prices one
way or the other before purchasing.

Guidelines
#1 Create your Character.
Characters Name:
When you create your character the name is very important. You want to create a
name that will both blend in and look like a natural player. You don't want to make avery unique name that someone will stick to someones mind.
I used to use the character name Poor for a lot of my Auction House characters, but I
stopped using those because it brought me too much attention for having a unique
name.
When I create a character now I try to make a name that will blend in, or even makes
me look like a noob. To do that you want to find very common names. Remember you
don't want to stand out in the crowd, so you finding a name that will blend in on the
auction house will work to your advantage.

When you start your scans make sure you checkoff the options to scan for: Quivers,
Projectiles, Consumables and Containers. You will rarely find any good buys from
those categories and they will just bog up your scan times. So if you want quicker
scans then get rid of those.
Even after you have been using this method for a while, you will want to continue to
scan the auction house. The prices will ALWAYS be fluctuating and you will want to
have up to date information.
On top of that you will want to have a huge database for your Auctioneer to sort
through while it's making decisions for you. The more data you have the better. It's
more likely that your Data will be correct.

***Note: The number is based off of silver so 600 silver = 6g. If you do a macro scan
or 600 it will list auctoins that have a buy out giving you a 6g profit if you were to
resell those items!!
I only use the Macro Scans above. You can feel free to change the macro to fit your
needs.
When your starting out you may want to start with scans between 50-150, or 100-200,
it's really up to you, but you will want to start where you budget will fit. As you continue
this method you can move up and up.
#4 Buyout!
Now you will go back and buy out all of the good deals that you found using
Auctioneer. I emphasize good because you can't always take all the information given
to you directly from Auctioneer and buy out everything they say has been listed lower.
Auctioneer does make mistakes, it is just a program, it runs as it should, but it does not
have a brain and it can not think like we do.
I wouldn't go item for item on which items Auctioneer tells you are good buys.
Use your head and use the information I give you inside of this section to pick which
items are good buys.

#5 Re-list
After you buyout all the items that were good deals, you simply run to the mail box,
and re-list them on the Auction house.
You will begin to get a lot of items going back and forth. I usually have around 50-75
auctions running at a time on each server.
As some expire, I just leave them in my Mail box until most or all of my auctions
expire. This saves me time and headaches.
#6 Rinse and Repeat
The most simple guideline. Continue! Just keep chipping away at that auction house
and you will begin to see a constant flow of gold flowing into your character.

Buying and selling tips
So now that you have the basics down to the way this method works you can start
moving into the advanced area's of buying and selling. Knowing when, how and why
you want to buy is very important.
Buying Tips
Bidding before downtime
If you bid right before server restarts or server maintenance times you will have a great
increased chance of winning.
This works because most players do not check the auction house after a patch, they
want to check the new content, or they get side tracked very quickly if its a regular
maintenance day.
If you place your bid before the down time, when the servers come back up the
auction will begin to tick away again and you will end up the winner.

Sundays/Monday Mornings
The weekend is when most players are on the servers.
With this in mind, during Friday Night, Saturday Night and Sunday Morning/Evening
most players are out playing, exploring, grinding, raiding, the usual.
When their weekend is about to end they take a stroll to the AH and put up all their
new items they found over the weekend.
I usually run a majority of my auction scans on Late night Sunday or Early morning on
Monday.
You pick up great deals because everyone wants to sell their items without re-listing
them. This means that everyone will undercut the people who listed before them.
If there are tons of people listing auctions at this given time, then you will know there
will be plenty of undercutting going on. This is our prime time to take advantage of
those auctions and pick up some great buys.

Deals from Trade Chat
This is a great place to pick up some deals also!
Some players prefer to spam their items in the trade channel to sell. This means you
can negotiate a price with them. If you see any good items being sold in the trade
channel then offer some prices to them and try to work out a deal in your favor.
When you offer them a price, offer them around 60-75% of what the auction house
calls for. If they decline don't go and burn your bridges.
Don't sit and argue with these players let them continue to try and sell it for two
reasons. First is that there are plenty of other deals for you to pick up quickly. Wasting
your time and effort on just one deal will get you no where.
The second is that if and when they don't sell it for their asking price, a lot of times
they will just COD the item to me for what I offered, or they will message me asking if I
still wanted it.

Manual Searches
This is something overlooked by SO many auctioneers. A friend of mine actually gave
me the ability to stumble on this one.
I have a very annoying real-life friend that always wanted the best items for his pretty
little Fury Warrior. I was constantly buying him new axes, new swords, new gear.
It wasn't really a problem for me, I had plenty of gold but then it made me realize:
What if more players are just like him, wanting to buy upgrades often so his their
characters stay top-notch. So I tested it out.
I invested around 100g on low level weapons. If you are familiar with prices you will
understand that 100g goes A LONG way with low level items. So I had quite a few
auctions in my inbox waiting for me.
I bought most of them for 10-15 silver. I re-listed them all for between 1-2g, some a lot
higher then the others. It all depends on the item level and the +stats the item gave.
The weapons I looked to buy out were ones with +agility + strength + stamina or
+attack power. These are those are the hot selling items for those characters since
they give them the best buffs for damage.
My weapons nearly always sold. If they didn't I would just re-list them later because it
didn't take much to do so.

The only thing is that you have to continue to keep a demand going for these items.
You can't let other people continue to list their auctions for 5s or 10s. Just buy those
out and hold them to re-list them at a later time. Shortly after this I did it with everything
I could get my hands on: armor of all threads, all types of weapons, absolutely
everything!
This alone is where I made a huge killing. Just by taking everything that all the lowbies
listed and re-listing it for a higher price. You really can't get much easier!
This lead me to another idea. Some classes (Warriors, Paladins, Hunters) upgrade
their armor at level 40. Hunters get mail, and the plate classes get their beloved plate.
I use the same exact method for this items.
All the items that bridge the gap between 39-40, I bought up and put at an even higher
price.
When these classes hit 40 they have waited so long to get these items. You can
understand their desire to quickly get their items. If you have played one of these
classes then you would know also.
You can re-list these items from 2x sometimes 3x the price that the auction house
gives you. By creating your own price, you are in control of what you want to sell your
items for.

Rings, Trinkets and Necklaces
Just like I said before, you can use the same method for these. Since there are lower
level items available now for these items you can start buying out these and re-listing
them at your own price.
Epics and Blues
When you find deals on these it's usually a great steal to pick them up. But you have
to remember that the listing prices for these go up. The prices are some times
outrageous.
You have to be extremely careful and include that into the back of your head when
your picking up good-buys on blues and epics. These could just as quickly turn
around and hurt you because of the amount of times you have to list in.
On these topics you also want to remember that when you list them on the auction
house you want to do so when they are going to sell. You do not want to pay
additional listing fee's because the item did no sell. You can either advertise that it's in
the AH, or sell at a very reasonable price to get more attention.

Items To look our for.
Here's a short list of things that usually sell like crazy:
I go more in depth with items in my grinding portion of the guide.
Twink Items
Leveling Items
Gem's for JewelCrafting
Raid BOE Items
Hot Recipe Materials
Consumable Materials
Reputation Items
Trade Skill Rare Recipes
Items with no Listing fee's.
Watch for the bid
Here's a fun one! Before you anxiously start going on a buyout spree, be mindful and
watch out for extremely low bid prices.
So many people are so worried about their buy-out prices that they forget about their
bid prices. Take advantage of the mistakes your competition makes. If you see any
poorly marked bid prices snatch them up and place a bid!

Selling Tips
Sell during Prime Time
The hottest times to list auctions would be on Friday evening, before all the players
start logging on, and Sunday morning, before all the players start listing their mass of
auctions and undercuts.
If you want to make a huge amount of money you need to sell when the buyers are
there, and buy when the sellers are there.
The more times you have to re-list something, the less profit you receive.
If you are new to this method and you are just trying to start off making some cash
then re-list prices will be your death. You really want to be mindful of the auctions you
list, when you list them and what your plan for the sale is going to be.

Auction House Guide
____________________________________
This one may seem extremely simplebut I am going to reinforce it.
Always use a buyout. Never listen an item on the auction house that does not have a
buy out. You wil l lose a lot of sales.
It is just like the minds of most Americans. Why do you think so many people buy fast
food? Because it is healthy and delicious? No. Because it's cheap? Not quite. The
reason is it's QUICK - It's Instant . You want food? drive throughBAM it's yours.
When it comes to items for peoples characters they want it instantly, they don't want to
bid and hope they win it by tomorrow.
So when you list an auction remember to list it with a buy out price. On top of this
make sure you list your bid price near the amount of your buy-out price.
Most people will forget about their bid price and this leaves a huge door open for you
like I talked about in the buying tips. Don't be one giving off good sales because of
your bid price.

Psychology of a buyer
If you have any background in sales this will make sense to you.
The psychology of a buyer is just making prices that look like a sale or a discount
when they really aren't. Instead of listing things for 10g, list them as 9g95s.
Very simple right? Well it gets more heavy.
Lets say you found a good blue item that you can sell for 10g. Did you know you can
actually make more then 10g out of that item?
Let's say you picked the item up for 5g. When you go to auction that item try using my
bridge the gap method. If you know the selling price is 10g, you can use the
psychology of a buyer to sell it for more.
What you want to do is list your item with a bid of 9g95s, the buyout being 11g95, or
12g95s. When the buyer looks at the item he or she will see the 9g95s as the first
price. Their brain will already function as the item being 9 gold.
Then they realize that it's just the bid. So they make the decision in their head Well for
2 gold more I can get this item immediately and since I really want it - I'll just get it
now! We both know very well people don't really think this out like that, but this is
what your brain goes through in the matter of seconds and makes those impulse
decisions to buy.

____________________________________
Listing Your Items
I need to reinforce it again. To maximize profits you need to cut back on the amount of
times you list an item.
You will want to list your auctions for the full 24 hours. The price isn't much higher and
you get double the amount of viewers then you would with the 12 hour auction.
This also gives you less headaches. If you list all your auctions for 24 hours, you wont
have to list any more until you are ready to the next day.
If you are constantly listing and re-listing items because of 12 hour buyouts then you
are going to get a headache and you wont be able to enjoy the game like everyone
else does!
Stick with 24 hours, it may hurt at first, but as profits start rolling in, listing prices wont
even play much of an effect in your mind. They will only come into play for Blue's and
Epics, and other general item's over level 50.

The power of Minimum bids
This is a secret I have kept to myself for a very long time. It works so wonderfully and
it's one of those under the radar secrets.
Auctions inside of the AH are listed in order for bid price. Most people automatically
assume that this goes by the buy out price.
Blizzard implemented it this way because the people who use just the bidding system
would get left out of the price listings.
So when people are searching for items they will see the lowest bid prices first.
I am not telling you to go and start making auctions with 1s bid. That is just retarded
and negates what I said previously. You want to use this with a balance.
If you are selling your items for 15g, you don't want to list your items for:
15g Bid/15g Buyout.
You want to look at the competition for that item, and see what their bids are. If you
can undercut what their listed bid price is, then you can move your auction up a few
slots and it will get you more views.
If no one is competing with you then you don't need to worry about it because your
auction will most likely get some action anyways.

One warning with this, is don't go too low.
I taught 3 people One-on-one my Auction house methods. I met these players on my
server. So they knew my account name, my mule name, and then I taught them my
methods.
After helping them out for a while 2 out of the 3 were getting very upset with me for
bidding on a nice portion of their auctions.
I couldn't figure out what the problem was until one of them blamed me for the
undercutting bid idea that I gave them.
After that it was obvious what their problem was. They were undercutting bids but they
were cutting them at such a drastic rate that people who have an eye for the auction
house were yanking them down for a nice steal of our own.
So I want to make it clear to you guys. Undercut your bids IF it's possible to give you a
bump up. If it's going to effect your profits for that item then don't worry about it.
This is just a sneaky little trick we can use to get that one step above our competition.
Everything helps when it comes to maximizing profits.
Don't go overboard on this one.

Stack'em Up
When you start stacking your items, you might want to sell them off slowly in smaller
stacks. I discussed this in the professions portion of the guide, it holds even more truth
in this section.
If you buy a full stack of peace bloom for 5 silver, and you sell them off in stacks of 5
for 3 silver a piece. You will realize that you will make 18s which is nearly 4x the
amount you bought it for.
On the other hand of this discussion you want to beware of uneven stack sizes.
People like to calculate simply in their heads to see if they are getting a deal or not. If
someone who is lazy runs across your auction for a stack of 14 instead of an even
stack of 20 or 10, the prices really don't matter.
More then likely for the sake of comfort the person will buy when they can calculate it
easily.
If worse comes to worse and you only have like 3-4 items you can break them up and
list them individually. But you never want to sell uneven stack sizes unless you are
using a strategy for a famous recipe or there is something above and beyond common
sense.

No Gold? NOT A PROBLEM!
It's always been a myth that you need loads of gold or lucky drops to cash in big using
the Auction House.
When people ask me how much gold they need to start out I usually tell them they
don't need any, or a couple gold will work just fine.
People think they have to find some way to farm x amount of gold so they can start
using this method. That's incorrect.
You can start out with a brand new account and make loads of cash strictly from the
auction house. Make a new character and grind just until level 5. By that time you
should have enough silver to start playing the auction house. Leveling to 5 only takes
a short amount of time.
It is definitely a struggle starting out with no gold don't get me wrong. Let me show you
some proof as to how you can start out.
You can start out looking for very cheap deals with very small profit ratings.
You will have to be a little careful on this, because these cheap deals could just be
an undercut, so it really takes some talent to start out this low.

If you are starting on a brand new server you can follow the model that I use to create
Gold Project X (My free demonstration of how I farm gold on servers I've never
played on).
I start out using a new character that I quickly send to the auction house to begin
scanning. (Remember you need a few days of scanning to get accurate results.)
I then create another character that I use for my leveling. This is always a hunter.
I play him in between my scanning times. I believe I got my hunter up to level 23
before I was ready to start using the auction house. By that time I have plenty of
materials to already start listing on the auction house (Between Cloth, Gathering
materials and greens I picked up while leveling).
I spend most of my gold that I collect while farming just to buy bags to make the
auction house experience easier and less of a headache. This leaves me with just a
few gold. But it isn't a problem.

With that small amount of gold, and the methods in this guide you will turn it into
thousands. When you start searching for items on the auction house and running your
Macro Scans, then heres how to customize your search for the good auctions:
As you can see, there's a lot of auctions here with LOW bids (the auctions are closing
out soon) and you can turn around and sell these for a very nice profit. Notice the
difference between the two images, one is 80% and one is 65%.
You can change this to the amount you want. The closer to 100% it is, the less the
difference is between profit and bid amount.

Looking for a deal
Here's the biggest and hardest question to answer.
When the gold is rolling in and you start investing more and more money into bigger
auctions and bigger deals the question starts to arise: How much money should I
leave sitting.
At first glance you will want to answer None, just keep investing for bigger returns.
This was my first response. Then I realized one day that this isn't always the case.
This happened the first day I was teaching one of my friends my Auction house
method. I had him over my house and I was showing him how I searched the auction
house. I started seeing deals fly up everywhere.
Most of these auctions were for raid-only items. Things like:
Core LeatherArcane CrystalsLava CoreFiery Core.
I was explaining to him exactly how great of deals these were.
Luckily I had around 7000g on the character at that time. I spent 4,500g that night
buying these auctions out as they were listed. My only guess is that a guild broke up
and the owner of the guild bank just wanted to throw all the items on the auction house
to get the gold return and move on.

Whoever was listing these auctions was listing them at full stacks for a great price. He
was listing Core Leather in stacks of 10 for 200g. At that time, Core leather could be
sold individually for 55g on that server.
When all is said and done (which was quite a while later) I had made 4,000g profit.
That is a HUGE turn around that people dream about. So when you go on spending
spree's you have to keep in mind that there could be that huge deal just waiting to pop
up, and you want to save a little bit of income for that.
Conclusion
So with that I want to conclude the Auction House portion of the guide. I know you
guys will make a killing off of this strategy if and only if you put it to use! I have used it
for over a year now and it continues to bring in money.
It will never stop bringing in money! You just have to be one of the diligent to go out
there and get it. If you need item idea's make sure you check out the Grinding
section of this guide. It will show you big selling items.
Go back to the step-by-step guide for the Auction House and begin implementing the
idea's. You will see huge increase in your gold with-in a week.
