In the world of aerospace andaviation, there are a few premierevents that industry insiders won’tmiss. The Farnborough Airshow, oneof the industry’s largest and mostprestigious events, is coming up soon.The show is held at FarnboroughAirfield in the U.K. every other year,alternating with the equally prestigiousParis Air Show.

Farnborough International is acommercial air show, with anemphasis on military technologies. In2004 there were more than 1300

exhibitors and 150,000 trade visitors.In addition to commercial and militaryinterests, the show is open to thegeneral public July 22 and 23.

As head of the PartsBase salesorganization, what are the challengesin your work?

New challenges arise every day. Theaviation industry has changed sodrastically in the past few years, acompany like PartsBase mustcontinually evolve. Our greatestchallenge is the ongoingimprovements to our system to meetthe needs of all of our customers.Our goal is to provide as many toolsas possible to maximize the return onour customers’ investment.Maintaining a business that allows usto reinvest in our technology, whilekeeping prices low, is not easy – butwe have proven it’s sustainable.

What facets of the aviation, aerospaceand defense industries interest you?

If you’re paying attention, all facets ofthe Aviation/Aerospace/Defense areinteresting. I love attending theindustry trade shows and seeing thelatest and greatest in the aviationmarket. There aren't many industriesthat offer such cutting-edge

technology and business strategy. It isa great education observing howaviation companies, airlines inparticular, are altering their businessesto adjust to market conditions.

What's your philosophy or approach tocustomer service?

I believe in the old-school principlethat the customer is always right.PartsBase prides itself on customerservice, and that will never change.Customer service levels seem to havedeclined in corporate America, and Ibelieve that companies like PartsBasewill continue to benefit by providingthe highest level of customer servicepossible. No company is perfect, buteffort can usually offset error, and towork for me, you have to hustle foryour customers every day.

In your view, how it PartsBase differentfrom competitors?

What really sets us apart from ourcompetition is the human support weoffer, not just to our existingcustomers, but to potential customers

as well. It iseasy to throwaround thephrase "Earnyour business",but it's muchmore difficult totruly do that.

So many of our customers are with ustoday because we went the extra mileto help them, and each one makes usstronger.

What's the most important aviation /aerospace industry trend you haveobserved?

Undoubtedly, it’s cost-cutting, or costmanagement. Those who work in thisindustry have assumed moreresponsibility as many companieshave downsized through these toughyears. That has allowed PartsBase toflourish during tough times. We offera service that frees up our customers’time and saves them money. Everycompany can benefit from those tworesults. Between the strain on militarybudgets, and the slump in thecommercial sector, cost managementwill remain a top priority for years tocome.
