Dear Shorewood parents, educators and friends,

The Shorewood SEED Foundation is an incredible asset to our community and is one of the primary reasons why Shorewood is able to provide such a great educational environment for our children and families. For over ten years now, SEED has served as the primary vehicle for philanthropic support for our public schools. The funding SEED provides has become increasingly important and essential to the health of our school district. It is a unique benefit for our community to have a group of dedicated volunteers contributing their energy and talents toward maintaining the high standards of excellence at our Shorewood Schools.

I have worked here in the district for over a year and a half now, and it has been a privilege to work in partnership with SEED on our fundraising efforts. During this time, we have achieved great things together.

Last fall, we were able to reach our “Meet the Match” campaign goal, with SEED and the Shorewood Schools Advancement Office working together to raise over $1 million to support new educational programs for our students. This was a fantastic, community-wide, team achievement. Reaching our goal in only seven months shows that the Shorewood community is capable of great things. SEED helps bring out the best in all of us, and harnesses this positive energy to benefit our children. I am fortunate to have the members of the Shorewood SEED Foundation as friends and colleagues, and hope you will join me in supporting this great organization to help ensure that it continues to thrive in the Shorewood community for many generations to come.

A Letter From the Board President

Thank you for attending Swing with Shorewood 2016. This year marks the 13th anniversary of Swing with Shorewood! I continue to be inspired by the loyalty of attendees and sponsors who have joined and supported us each year, and by the enthusiasm of those new to the event. We continue to be called upon to help meet the rising need of increased educational costs and decreasing state aid. This event helps to keep Shorewood moving forward in funding excellence in educational development.

As most of you know, we had an amazing challenge to raise $500,000 to receive a matching $500,000 for STEAM/STEM education at Shorewood. We were thrilled to be an integral part of this process and success story for our district. Our Annual Campaign which raises funds for the general education fund and teacher grants was targeted to “Meet the Match” this year. By targeting those funds to Meet the Match leaves a void in the dollars available for teacher grants. So, we are targeting all funds raised tonight for teacher grants.

The generous support of our event sponsors has been key to the event’s growth and success, and I want to extend our deepest thanks to First Weber Group Realtors for their ongoing participation and partnership. First Weber has remained our presenting sponsor over the history of Swing with Shorewood, setting a wonderful example of community support for our schools. Finally, I want to acknowledge the hundreds of donors to this year’s Swing with Shorewood Online Auction. The Auction represents a significant portion of our revenue each year, and every donation helps positively impact SEED grants to the Shorewood Public School District.

Finally, I would like to thank the Swing committee, Katelin Watson, and the SEED Board for all of their efforts to make this event happen. We have started a wonderful tradition in the community and it takes many volunteers to run this fun event. We do not want to see Swing disappear, however, we are really looking for volunteers to continue this fabulous tradition. Please consider donating your time to next year’s event. If interested, please contact me at [email protected].

Again, many thanks for joining us at Swing with Shorewood, and for supporting the SEED Foundation mission. What is that saying? Bid high, bid often, and help us raise money for teacher grants.
