Plants build on the special qualities of gardens. Thanks to a grant from the Captain Planet Foundation, we will be able to grow plants significant to multiple cultures represented in Southwest Atlanta.

We didn’t do it alone. To date, we’ve had over 900 volunteers lend their time, energy and expertise to make Atwood Community Gardens & Urban Farms possible.

ProcessAt their heart, community gardens are community development initiatives that strengthen and build the resilience of local communities through increasing community connections and networks of support, developing the skills and knowledge of local people, identifying and building on local assets, and encouraging community members to work cooperatively to solve problems and meet their own needs.

The Atwood Café serves as a meeting place for children’s outings and picnics as well as a space for vendors of the SWOOM Farmer’s Market
