Attractions Accessible by ATV Overlooks Keyes Peak Scenic Overlook Looking down from atop the Keyes Peak Ski Hill, you can see several lakes and miles of forest. LePages Creek Overlook Located in the Spread Eagle Barrens at the end of Lake Anna Rd., it offers a spectacular view of the State Natural Area. Pine River Overlook Located at Sand Lake and Johnson Cr. Roads, it offers a gorgeous view of the Pine River, one of three state designated Wild Rivers. Pine River Wayside Located on Highway N just south of the Pine River, this soon to be completed area offers a great view of the surrounding Waterfalls LaSalle Falls Florence County’s largest waterfall, this 22 foot falls is a 20 minute walk in on a hiking trail, but is well worth the time. Washburn Falls There is a short walking trail that leads to this fall. There is a small peninsula that offers a great view of the falls . Other Wild Rivers Interpretive Center Located at the intersection of US 2/141 and Hwy 101/70, the Center has displays on our Natural Resources. This is also that location of tourism information for the county. There is a small gift shop as well. Historical Courthouse and Jail Located in Florence, the jail and courthouse are listed in the national Register of Historical Places. Florence County ATV Trail System • 150 miles of trails and routes

• Connected to Marinette and Forest County and to Iron County, Michigan trail systems

• The ATV trails are open year round except for the April. Trails that are also groomed for snowmobiles are closed when it is above 28 degrees.

• The following towns have some of their roads open to riding. Please do not ride on the road unless it is marked with an ATV Route signs. Florence, Commonwealth, Homestead, Fence, Long Lake, and Tipler all have some roads open to riding.

• Please stay on the trails if you want to keep this great opportunity to ride open. It only takes one bad rider to ruin it for every-one else.

About Florence County • Florence County is located in the northeast

corner of Wisconsin and has the second lowest population of the 72 counties in Wisconsin.

• There are over 140,000 acres of publicly owned land in the county and with indus-trial forests, well over half of all the land is open for public use.

• 80% of the County is forested, making September and October a great time to visit for an Autumn Color Tour.

• Florence County home to the Whisker Lake Wilderness in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, 6 State Natural Area, and 2 of the 3 state designated Wild Rivers, the Pine and Popple Rivers.

• There are 265 lakes and 165 miles of rivers and stream located within the county. Although not all have public access, nearly all of the lager lakes have public access.

• The lakes and rivers provide ample oppor-tunity to fish for trout, musky, pike, bass and other panfish.

Overnight Parking Free overnight parking is available at the Florence Natural Resource and Wild Rivers Interpretive Center. It is asked that you park in the lower level parking lot and in an orderly fashion.

Dirt Bikes Dirt bikes are currently not allowed on the Florence County ATV Trail system.

UTV/LUVs Florence County is part of the light-weight utility vehicle pilot program in 2008-2009. Call 888-889-0049 with questions.

ATV Park The ATV park is located on the south side of Fisher Lake, just out side of Florence. The 17 acre park offers riders of varying experience levels challenges on hills, sand, and mud pits. It is free and open to the public.

Other Trails • Waterfalls- There are 6 waterfalls that can

be hiked via public land.

• Hiking– There are 15+ signed hiking trails with most on the County and National Forests.

• Biking– There are 5 mountain biking trails and several popular road routes.

• Equestrian– There are 3 equestrian trails that are some of the finest in the region.

• Snowmobile– There are over 180 miles of groomed trail with excellent scenery.

• Water– There are many suggested canoe and Kayak trips for the beginner and experienced. There is also the Pine River Oxbow, which is popular with tubers.

• Cross Country Skiing- There are several groomed trails throughout the county

• Keyes Peak Ski Hill offers downhill skiing, snowboarding, and inner tubing during the winter months.
