Conclusion-1

17

1. The great majority refused the idea of referring to healers, yet some accepted going to religious scholars before consulting a psychiatrist.

2. Confidentiality appeared to be a major determinant in consulting a psychiatrist, and the fear of not having enough confidentiality is a remarkable obstacle.

3. Results were ambiguous regarding the degree of harmony or contradiction between Psychiatry and Religion.

4. Social stigma is an important and common obstacle that psychiatry faces.

5. Physicians of different specialities have limited knowledge about psychiatry, but most of them are welling to know more.

Page 18: Attitude knowledge & behaviour among physicians toward

04/11/2023Tabaza&sSarhan18

6. The majority consider the efforts of raising awareness on mental health not enough and need improvement.

7. It was not clear whether physicians of different specialities are satisfied with the skilfulness of psychiatrists in Jordan or not.

8. Some of the physicians may advise their patients to consult a psychiatrist if needed, but refuse to do it when they are themselves having a psychological problem.

9. A delay was obvious in referring a patient with a psychological problem to a psychiatrist.

10. The great majority of physicians avoided prescribing psychiatric medications and therapy, due to their limited knowledge about it.
