Attending training remotely using Microsoft Teams
Please use a Windows laptop or desktop PC with the Teams app installed as per the instructions on the following pages. If this is not possible, we have provided instructions for additional device types but the experience may be different and it may be difficult for the trainer to support you in the session.

Try and minimise background noise, it may be best to be in a separate room if possible and if you have a headset or headphones with a mic or even standard headphones, plug these into your laptop or desktop PC for the session.
It’s important to have a reliable Internet connection, where possible please plug in an ethernet cable from your Internet router into your laptop/modem. If this is not possible, please locate yourself close to your Internet router

When plugging in a headset or headphones, Teams should automatically change audio device. But depending on the device, it may not always change to your preferred option so its possible to check what device is selected and make a test call.

In the top right hand corner of Teams click on your account image or initials to bring up this menu on the right. Click on “Settings”.
In this settings menu, select Devices in the left hand menu. Here you can change your what audio device you are using and make a test call. The test call will allow you to record a message to yourself and hear it back to verify your microphone and speakers are correct.
Please join 20 minutes before the start time. This will allow you to check computer settings for camera, speakers and microphone.It will also help us begin promptly and make best use of the session. Those arriving at the webinar after the first five minutes will not be able to join.

This is very important. It will protect your privacy, preventing private conversations and remarks being shared in the webinar.You will be able to turn your microphone when there is a need to speak.
Mute your mic and camera
Use the conversation button to post any questions after you join the webinar. Multiple people will be joining at the same time. Should everyone call out it will be difficult to respond to questions or offer support.Please bear in mind it is very difficult for the facilitator to resolve technical issues during a webinar.If you cannot use or see a feature being considered on your computer, please follow the trainer’s screen to make the most of the session.

1. Check if you have Microsoft Teams is installed. Click on your Start Menu and click on Microsoft Teams. If not download and install it from https://aka.ms/downloadteams
2. If this is the first time you’ve opened Microsoft Teams, sign in with your work email address and password.There will be some initial introduction information displayed for you to click through.
Note: If you’re having problems installing the Teams app, refer to Join a meeting from a browser/Chromebook

3. From the main menu on the left, click on Calendar,
5. From the meeting details screen, click the Join button
4. Locate the relevant appointment in the calendar and click on it to open the meeting details.(Your calendar appointment will probably be called something else!)

6. Toggle the video switch to offToggle the mic switch to offClick the Join now button
You are now in the online meeting. The trainer will begin communicating with you shortly.
Join a Teams meeting from MacOS app
1. If you haven’t got the Teams app already,Install the Teams app for Mac from https://aka.ms/downloadteams

If you can’t install the Teams app on your laptop or PC or you have a Chromebook
1. Open your web browser (ideally Chrome) and go to https://teams.microsoft.com

3. You will need to allow your mic and camera. Click “Allow”

4. From the main menu on the left, click on Calendar,

5. Locate the relevant appointment in the calendar and click on it to open the meeting details.(Your calendar appointment will probably be called something else!)
