use assumption quantity potential non-potable domestic (in lieu of potable supply)

conservative approximation based on substituting non-potable supply for use for toilet flushing and garden watering use only– estimated at 100Kl/person/day for 500 houses with 2.5 persons/household – requires “third pipe” supply system.

This level of demand is typical of most suburban development. It forms the basis and justification for current investment in “third pipe” fit for purpose (non-potable) water distribution systems in greenfield development as part of Waterproofing the South.

potential non-potable open space irrigation

approximation based on 1Ha irrigated at 3.6Ml per Ha/year (as per Council reserves water management service standard) (Note- existing irrigated- Frank Hilton Reserve <0.4ha) – non potable irrigation watering requires specialist irrigation system or techniques to reduce risk of human exposure.
