Guidelines

Your app needs to work. You can present static screen concepts, but they will not be judged for prizes. Winning apps that function as described will be selected at the sole discretion of our judges and weighted heavily based on the following 3 criteria:

• Ability to clearly articulate what your app does

• Originality of the idea/concept

• Technically creative and/or challenging implementation

1. Judging Criteria

Page 20: AT&T IoT Hackathon - Dallas (hosted by The DEC)

AT&T Hackathon – Dallas Get these slides at slideshare.net/creepyed

Guidelines

• You can use previously started project and code. 25% of the total finished project must have been added at this hackathon. If this applies to your project, please submit a GitHub repository with your team registration.

• Must be present to win.

• Employees of AT&T are ineligible to win (however they may participate on teams).

2. Rules

Page 21: AT&T IoT Hackathon - Dallas (hosted by The DEC)

Judging - What We Look For

Submission are judged on the following 5 criteria:

1. Originality: Is it something new (we’ve not seen it before and/or fresh code for you) or a copy of something else?

2. Technology: How well does the app integrate Watson and Bluemixcapabilities (Hint: use the APIs)?

3. Simplicity: How elegantly does it solve the problem (work smarter not harder)?

4. Completeness: How well did the project meet is own objectives? (Hint: Start brainstorming what you want to show and then develop backwards)

5. Presentation: How well did the team present? (You see how fabulous this slide deck is?)

Smart Cities mean the evolution of municipality decision making from reactionary, based on historic data, to proactive based on real-time data. Transform data collected from into actionable information enabling intelligent decisions to improve cities within one or more of the following areas:

AT&T Hackathon ScenarioDevelop new innovative applications building on the Internet of

Things in the area of Smart City

• Traffic management

• Garbage collection

• Leak detection

• Lightning

• Utility management

• Parks and recreation

• More!

Applications should deliver one or more of the following business outcomes:1. Does the application save the Government money?2. Does the application improve the ability to make smart decisions for the city?3. Does the application enable the Government to better or more efficiently use

collected data?4. Does the application improve safety?5. Does the application have citizen value?
