AT&T has been active in Slovakia since 2002 and our team has continued to grow since then, and now boasts over 2000 people. Today, we have four centers ― three in the capital, Bratislava, and one in Košice. For AT&T, Slovakia holds great appeal: a highly-skilled educated workforce and an investment-friendly economy in the heart of central Europe that boosts an enviable quality of life. The work we do here meets the needs of multi-national corporations worldwide and focuses on sales, service management, service delivery and assurance in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Like Brno, the centers in Bratislava have evolved into Worldwide Customer Service Centers ― part of a network of locations that support our customers wherever they are. In addition our specialist centre in Košice supports router configuration, network engineering and supply management. Slovakia is a high-income advanced economy with one of the fastest growth rates in the European Union and the OECD. The country joined the European Union in 2004 and the Euro zone on 1 January 2009. Slovakia also is a member of Schengen Area. The official unit of currency in the Slovak Republic is the Euro and most commonly accepted credit cards are VISA, MasterCard, EuroCard/MasterCard, Maestro and Visa Electron. ATMs are readily available.

About the region: Located to the south and east of the Czech Republic and with close proximity to Austria, Slovakia is an advancing economy with a growth rate amongst the highest within the European Union. With its fascinating landscapes, medieval castles, folk culture and even ski resorts, Slovakia’s culture attracts visitors all around the World. Unsurprisingly, its proximity to other EU countries, its climate and low crime rate make it an attractive location to stay for a growing number of international skilled workers. Bratislava is the largest city and the capital and yet is only 30 minutes drive from Vienna Airport. The historic city centre boosts cobblestone streets and a hilltop castle next to the Danube River. From an abundance of restaurants to good shopping, theatres to nightlife, everything Bratislava has to offer is accessible by comfortable and affordable public transportation – making it a great place to enjoy life and build a career in a vibrant economy. Kosice is the thriving economic and cultural centre of eastern Slovakia and offers air, road and rail connections in every direction. It is also home to many universities, museums, galleries and theatres and its rich heritage can be seen everywhere, its long main street is lined with palaces, churches, shopping boutiques, cafes and restaurants.

Markets You can buy your meal in an internationally recognized chain seller as well as in local small shops. Opening hours vary from 6/7 a.m. to 8 – 10 p.m. Monday – Sunday, some large chains operate 24/7. Also, there are also some open air markets scattered across the city, with fresh vegetable and fruit as well as with traditional milk products from small producers. Transportation Frequent, easily accessible and … kind of comfortable. Not too much worse than elsewhere! If you plan to use your own car, please make sure you have an international driving license. Rent and Utilities Sometimes, when renting a room or house, utilities bills are included in rent. When choosing your location, please remember that normally you will reach any place within 25 minutes by any transport. Locations outside center offer more tranquil environment and cheaper services. Clothing & Shoes This it is – if we can, for fashion, we shop abroad, e.g. in nearby Austria! However, shopping centers are large and full of quality stuff. Sports And Leisure Many sport & fitness center, cinemas etc. are located in huge shopping centers, but also locally in residential areas. Movies in cinemas are in original languages with Slovak subtitles. You can also enjoy your time in swimming pools, forests, parks, in-line or bicycling by the river Danube in Bratislava. In both cities there are many opportunities to see live popular bands and performers, visit numerous churches, galleries and art exhibitions. Religion Predominantly citizens are Roman Catholics or Protestants; Orthodox Church is a smaller denomination. All religions are equally accepted, though not all might have facilities for worships. Healthcare Every employee is insured at one of the three insurances. A part of the costs is paid by employer and part by employee, it is reduced directly from the gross salary as stated by legislation. This reduction entitles you to medical services costs free, however, some additional charges might apply at dentist or if a specific cure not covered by insurance is prescribed. Safety Slovakia is a safe place, though one needs to be careful and mindful to prevent small street thefts. Nothing too different from other European cities.

AT&T has been committed to the region for many years, initially creating a network service operation in Brno which supported service assurance and delivery for customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Today it has become a key strategic global customer service centre – supporting U.S based infrastructure and large multinational clients and is part of an international network of support centres in locations such as Singapore, UK, Slovakia, Australia and Japan. With a commitment to effortless customer service comes an investment in our people. We’re proud of our 600+ strong workforces and invest significantly in-house training, leadership development and mentoring. At the same we’re building partnerships with regional local academia and supporting community initiatives. Located in a new science park with a focus on innovation and technology we place considerable emphasis on a culture of research and development to develop new solutions or identify new ways of working. Indeed such is the commitment and capability of the team that many of the most complex ‘Tier 3’ issues are handed over to the Brno team from around the globe.

About the region: The Czech Republic is home to more than 10 million people and has one of the most developed economies in central Europe. It has excellent transport and infrastructure links and boosts a skilled and open economy within the EEA with many multinational organisations investing here. Being at the heart of Europe it offers a good climate and an opportunity to explore great history, sample local cultures and discover stunning scenery – and at the same time enjoying a cost of living that makes the region extremely affordable and accessible to all. Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic and living in this bustling metropolis offers access to respected schools and universities, theatres, restaurants and shopping. From street festivals to endless entertainment and friendly people, Brno is an amazing place to live and work. The official unit of currency in the Czech Republic is the Czech Crown. The most commonly accepted credit cards are VISA, MasterCard, EuroCard/MasterCard, Maestro and Visa Electron. American Express cards are not so widely accepted; ATMs are readily available anywhere. Personal checks are not generally used as a payment option for personal shopping. The Czechs spend the dominant part (about one fourth) of their income on food. Another important item is housing costs, which represents about 18% of overall expenditure. Approximately 16% of income is spent on culture and leisure time. Substantial sums (14% of income) are also spent on transport and telecommunications.
