Global Precipitation Mission (GPM)

GPM is the follow-on augmented mission of TRMM mission

To improve accuracy of long and short-term weather forecasts (and meteorology, climatology)

To improve water resource management in river control and irrigation systems (and hydrology, agrometeorology)

Global Rainfall Map (GSMaP) in Near Real Time

WGISS 29 @ Bonn, Germany 17-21 May, 2010

Hourly global rainfall maps are available four hours after observation. This system is based on rainfall algorithm developed by the GSMaP (Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation) project.
