atmosphere 2014: everybody lies - adam michalczyk
DESCRIPTION
A lot of people have seen House, MD TV series. One of his sayings is “Everybody lies”. The very foundation of software development is the deep lack of trust between the client and the developers (as a company or as individuals). As for now – the Agile movement changed the software world a bit, but the underlying principles are often omitted or misunderstood. This talk discusses the sad reality of Software Houses getting their real pay from change requests, Agile teams doing software without the real customer need and, generally speaking, lots of ways, we put our, or our customers money to trash cans. However, the topic seems to be dead serious, there are some smart ways of developing better practices with deeper understanding of underlying values. We should focus on tools and techniques, but never lose the sense of direction from the underlying values. The speakers wants to uncover some of easy techniques to be used to help us build better software development organizations.
