COURT TIMEOUTdOOR COURT TIME The outdoor courts at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex and the Atkins Tennis Center are open to the public and may be used free of charge. Reservations for outdoor courts may be made up to seven days in advance. The reservation must be limited to no more than one and a half hours. Call (217) 244-8562 to reserve a court. Also, one person may only reserve one court. Users of the outdoor courts must follow Atkins’ policies outlined on page 2.

IndOOR COURT TIME Random indoor court time is available seven days a week. This price applies to the public and those affiliated with the University of Illinois. The summer rate is offered beginning May 26, 2014 and ends on September 1, 2014. Atkins’ ball machine or ball carts may be reserved with an indoor court for $5 per hour above the cost of the court. Reservation policies outlined under outdoor court time and Atkins policies provided on page 2 apply. Call(217) 244-8562 to reserve an indoor court.

SUMMER IndOOR RCTMay 26- September 1 $14/hr

PRO-SHOPThe Atkins Tennis Center Pro-Shop features all the equipment and Illi-nois Tennis apparel a tennis enthusiast needs to excel and look great on the court. The Atkins Tennis Center is a Wilson exclusive distributor of racquets and accessories; however, Prince racquets may still be ordered upon request. Atkins also offers demo racquets which can be rented at a cost of $3 per racquet, per day which allows customers to try multiple racquets before making a purchase decision. Customers can use up to $15 spent on demo racquets toward the purchase of a new racquet by presenting demo receipts.

Atkins’ Pro-Shop also features stringing services with a variety of strings from Wilson, Luxilon, and Babolat. Prices for strings range from $20 to $35, including labor. If you bring in your own string, the cost of stringing labor is $14 per racquet. Call the Atkins Pro-Shop at (217) 244-8562 for more information on products and services or to inquire about Atkins’ demo racquet policy.

atkins rules and policies All patrons of the Atkins Tennis Center must follow the

policies outlined below:1. Players using either the indoor and outdoor courts must check in at the front desk before entering the courts.

2. All players must wear shoes with a non-marking, rubber sole. RUN-NING SHOES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE COURT.

3. No food or drink shall be taken on court except water in plastic containers.

4. Tennis attire is to be worn while on court. Shirts must be worn at all times.

5. Cursing, yelling, racquet throwing, abuse to court surface, walls, fence, or ceiling will not be tolerated.

6. It is University policy that all lessons be taught by the Atkins teach-ing staff.

7. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted anywhere on the Atkins Tennis Center property.

8. Unsupervised children are not allowed in the Atkins Tennis Center. Children who are not playing tennis are not allowed on the courts. Running, yelling, or other behavior which disturbs players on court will not be tolerated.

9. The University of Illinois holds no responsibility for injuries, acci-dents, or lost or stolen articles.

10. Court time, lessons, clinics, or Pro-Shop items should be paid for with cash, check, or credit card. If paying with check, a driver’s license or UIN number must appear on the check. Atkins accepts VISA, Mas-terCard, Discover, and American Express cards.

ATKINS CLINIC POLICIES

The following registration and clinic policies apply to all clinic participants:

PAYMENT FOR ALL ADULT AND JUNIOR CLINICS IS DUE UPONREGISTRATION. Clinic participants will not be allowed to reserve a space in the clinic without payment - NO EXCEPTIONS. We appreciate your cooperation.

Full refunds will be given if you cancel your registration PRIOR TO the first day of the session.

REFUNDS AFTER THE START OF EACH SESSION WILL ONLY BE GIVEN UNDER EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES. Please contact Jim Tressler at (217) 244-8562 as soon as possible with any situation you feel warrants consideration. Waiting until after the session is over before contacting management may result in loss of refund consideration.

ADULT CLINICSUSA 1-2-3 This clinic is designed for beginners age 19 and older. Players are new to the game and lack consis-tency and directional control. The program is developed in conjunction witht the USTA and emphasizes basic funda-mentals and stroke development.

STROkE Of ThE dAyStroke of the Day is open to players of all abilities and will focus on one specific stroke or a series of related strokes. This is the perfect clinic for players looking to improve their stroke technique during their lunch hour.

InTERMEdIATE CO-Ed nIghTThis clinic is designed for men and women who possess an NTRP rating of 3.0 - 3.5. This moderately paced drill will emphasize doubles and singles strategy and technical development of strokes.

BOOT CAMp Boot Camp is a high intensity clinic designed for players of all abilities. Expect a fast paced, high energy workout that includes both tennis and footwork drills.

HOT SHOTS (age 8 & under) The Hot Shots clinic is designed for players age 8 and under and will utilize the USTA’s 10 and Under Tennis format. Players will drill and play on a 36 foot court and use the 10 and Under Tennis format red and foam balls. Participants will be introduced to groundstroke, volley, and serve technique and will perform drills to acquire racquet control. These shots will be used to develop rallying skills, perform drills, and play games.

HEAVY HITTERS (age 9 &10) The Heavy Hitters clinic is designed for players ages 9 and 10 and will utilize the USTA’s 10 and Under Tennis format. Players will drill and play on a 60 foot court and use the Quickstart format orange balls. Participants will be introduced to groundstroke, volley, and serve technique and will perform drills to acquire racquet control. These shots will be used to develop rally-ing skills, perform drills, and play games.

Atkins SUMMER TRAINING CAMP

INTERMEDIATE TRAINING SCHOOL (ITS) SUMMER TRAINING CAMP

Interested players must consult Brandon Lenfert before enrolling into the ITS program. Players eligible for ITS possess the following characteristics: •Improved ability in all aspects of the game and have made a serious commitment to learning the fundamentals of tennis. •Possess circular groundstroke swings, table top volley swings, and a throwing motion for their serve and knowledge of specialty shots including the overhead, return, and approach shot but are working to refine these skills. •Rally from the baseline with topspin, volley with consistency, and are able to use a full service motion to begin points. •Knowledge of simple singles and doubles strategies and are working to gain a stronger un derstanding of advanced strategies. •Have begun competition in USTA sanctioned tournaments and are making a serious commitment to their tennis.

FUTURES SUMMER TRAINING CAMP (age 11-13)

Players eligible for Atkins’ Futures clinic possess the following characteristics: • Working to possess a strong understanding of groundstroke, volley, and serve technique. •Can use groundstrokes and volleys to play live ball points. •Can rally from the baseline using the 10 and Under Tennis format green balls and are practicing to rally consistently with full compression balls. •Can hit groundstrokes & volleys with proper technique from a fed ball to targets.

CHALLENGERS SUMMER TRAINING CAMP(age 11-13)

Players eligible for Atkins’ Challenger clinic posses the following characteristics: • Strong understanding of groundstroke, volley, and serve technique and can use these skills to compete without supervision. • Are in the process of learning the stroke technique of specialty shots such as the over head,return of serve, and approach shot. • Posses sound rallying skills and use full groundstroke swings while rallying successfully from the baseline with topspin. • Know the rules of tennis, can keep score, and are working to gain knowledge of simple singles and doubles strategies.

SUMMER TRAINING CAMP offers a 3 hour program to the 11-13 age group which incorporates the drills from Atkins clinics with match play and provides a well rounded training program. Players will get a break between drills and match play and coaches will incorportate cross training activities.

ADVANCED TRAINING SCHOOL (ATS) Interested players must consult Brandon Lenfert before enrolling into the ATS program. Players eligible for ATS possess the following characteristics: •Advanced stroke technique on all swings including groundstrokes, serves, volleys, returns, overheads, and approach shots. •Consistently rally from the baseline with heavy topspin, volley with depth and underspin, and have a consistent service motion which is able to be hit to targets and with varied spins. • Training focus on match strategy, match play, and tournament competition. •Possess an understanding of singles and doubles strategies. • Compete in USTA sanctioned tournaments or play high school tennis.

JUNIOR EXCELLENCE TRAINING (JET) Interested players must consult Brandon Lenfert before enrolling into the JET program. Players eligible for JET possess the following characteristics: •Excellent stroke technique on all swings including groundstrokes, serves, volleys, returns, overheads, and approach shots.

•Consistently rally from the baseline with heavy topspin, volley with depth and underspin, use all court shots with various spins, and have a con-sistent service motion which is able to be hit to targets and with varied spins.

•A training focus on match strategy, competition, mental toughness, and physical conditioning. •Possess an understanding and ability to execute advanced singles and doubles strategies. •JET players regularly compete in USTA sanctioned tournaments.

HIGH SCHOOL DRILL GROUP (age 14-18)The high school drill group is open to players of varying skill levels and is de-signed for players looking to learn the game of tennis or looking to improve their strokes and techniques. The class will be drill focused giving each player the opportunity to focus on his/her own strengths and weaknesses. Players must be in high school to be eligible to participate in this class

Private InstructionPrivate lessons are offered to adults and juniors of any ability level. Group InstructionGroup lessons may be arranged for groups of two or more and are available to adults and juniors of all ability levels. Lessons are arranged by appointment and scheduled by the hour. Atkins’ group instruction is a great platform for USTA teams to receive organized practice time and learn new match strategies that will improve their team’s success in competition. Topics covered during the lesson are based on the group’s request.
