WELCOME ADDRESS OF THE HEAD OF ΤΗΕ ALTERNATE MINISTER OF EDUCATION, RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS, CULTURE AND SPORTS In a time like this, when we need new forms of expression and thinking, art creates ideas, solutions and values, and provides an outlet through a pro-ductive and prolific mix of contempo-rary culture and new media. The spec-trum of contemporary digital art cre-ation in its entirety (Video Art, Ani-mation, Digital Image, Web Art, Instal-lation Art, Performance Art) has been an important multidimensional tool of artistic creation and expression since the last decades of the 20th century up until today.Nowadays, digital art has taken by storm exhibitions, museums of mod-ern art and events of contemporary art all over the world. Σε μια εποχή που αναζητά νέες μορφές έκφρασης και προβληματισμού η τέχνη γεννά ιδέες και λύσεις, παράγει αξίες, προβάλει την καλλιτεχνική διέξοδο μέσω της ζείδωρης και γόνιμης πρόσμιξης σύγχρονου πολιτισμού και νέων μέσων τεχνολογίας. Η σύγχρονη ψηφιακή καλλιτεχνική δημιουργία σε όλο το φάσμα της (Video Art, Anima-tion, Digital Image, Web Art, Installa-tion Art, Performance Art) αποτελεί ένα πολυδιάστατο σημαντικό εργαλείο εικαστικής δημιουργίας και έκφρασης από τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες του 20ου αιώνα μέχρι σήμερα. Στις μέρες μας, η ψηφιακή τέχνη κατακλύζει τις εκθέσεις, τα μουσεία μοντέρνας τέχνης και τις διοργανώσεις σύγχρονης τέχνης διεθνώς, απο-κτώντας όλο και πιο περίοπτη θέση στην παγκόσμια καλλιτεχνική πα- ραγωγή, στην αγορά της τέχνης και στη συνείδηση του κοινού. ΧΑΙΡΕΤΙΣΜΟΣ ΠΕΡΙΦΕΡΕΙΑΡΧΗ ΑΤΤΙΚΗΣ

Η συνεχής ανάπτυξη της ψηφιακής τεχνολογίας και των Νέων Μέσων έχει διαμορφώσει μια νέα πραγματικότητα στο πεδίο της οπτικής επικοινωνίας και των τεχνών. Η ευρεία χρήση τους συμβάλλει στην υιοθέτηση σύγχρονων και άμεσων μορφών έκφρασης και στη διάδοση του ψηφιακού πολιτισμού. Στην κατεύθυνση αυτή συμβάλλουν, επίσης, σημαντικές πρωτοβουλίες και θεσμοί όπως είναι το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ψηφιακών Τεχνών και Νέων Μέσων (Athens Video Art Festival) που έχουμε τη χαρά να φιλοξενούμε για όγδοη συνεχή χρονιά στην Αθήνα. Πρόκειται για ένα φεστιβάλ καινοτόμο και πρωτοποριακό, που αναπτύσσει μια συνεχή δυναμική συγκεντρώνοντας κάθε χρόνο όλο και περισσότερες συμμετοχές και δημιουργίες καλ-λιτεχνών από ολόκληρο τον κόσμο. Οι συμμετέχοντες καλλιτέχνες έχουν την ευκαιρία να αναπτύξουν ένα ζωντανό διάλογο, σε αλληλεπίδραση με το χώρο, μέσα από έργα υψηλού καλλιτεχνικού και αισθητικού απο-τελέσματος. Παράλληλα, το κοινό έχει τη δυνατότητα να παρακολουθήσει εναλλακτικά και πρωτοπόρα θεάματα και να εξοικειωθεί με τα Νέα Μέσα που προάγουν τον σύγχρονο πολιτισμό και τις νέες τεχνολογίες.Η Περιφέρεια Αττικής θέτει υπό την αιγίδα της καινοτόμες δράσεις που

στοχεύουν στη διάδοση των σύγχρονων μορφών τέχνης σε ευρύτερες ομάδες του πληθυσμού και ιδιαίτερα στους νέους. Είναι ιδιαίτερα θετικό, επίσης, το γεγονός ότι το 8ο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ψηφιακών Τεχνών και Νέων Μέσων διεξάγεται στο Ιστορικό Κέντρο της Αθήνας. Σε μία μάλιστα, τόσο δύσκολη περίοδο, πρωτοβουλίες όπως αυτή, που συμβάλλουν στην ανάδειξη της αρχιτεκτονικής φυσιογνωμίας του και ταυτόχρονα στη λειτουργία του ως ένα ζωντανό κύτταρο τέχνης, μας βρίσκουν πρόθυμους συμπαραστάτες. WELCOME ADDRESS OF THE HEAD OF ATTICA REGION The continuous development of digi-tal technology and new media has cre-ated a new reality in the field of visu-al communication and arts. Their wide-spread use contributes to the adoption of modern and direct forms of expres-sion and in the dissemination/spread of digital culture.Important initiatives and institutions, such as the International Festival of Dig-ital Arts and New Media (Athens Video Art Festival), which we have the plea-sure to host for the eighth consecutive year in Athens, also contribute towards this direction. This is an innovative and pioneering festival, which devel-ops a continuous dynamic by assem-bling each year more participations and artistic creations from around the world. The participating artists have the opportunity to develop a live-ly dialogue, in interaction with space, through projects of high artistic and aesthetic result. At the same time, the public has the opportunity to attend alternative and innovative shows and become familiar with the New Media, which promote contemporary culture and new technologies.Attica Region puts under its auspices innovative actions which aim at the dis-semination of forms of contemporary

art to broader groups of population and particularly to young people. The fact that the 8th International Festival of Digital Arts and New Media is being held at the Historical Center of Athens is very positive. Το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ψηφιακών Τεχνών και Νέων Μέσων της Ελλάδος, το Ath-ens Video Art Festival, αποτελεί σημείο αναφοράς για την ψηφιακή πολιτιστική δημιουργία και έχει εξελιχθεί στον πιο καινοτόμο φορέα ο οποίος προάγει τον ψηφιακό πολιτισμό και τις νέες τεχνολογίες στην Ελλάδα.Η φετινή του ιδέα «Ζωντανεύοντας την Αθήνα» είναι ιδιαίτερα ελκυστική για την πόλη μας, δεδομένου ότι το θέμα έχει ως στόχο την ανάδειξη, αναβάθμιση και τη συμμετοχή σε πολιτιστικές δράσεις του Ιστορικού και Εμπορικού Κέντρου της Αθήνας. WELCOME ADDRESS OF THE CITY OF ATHENS CULTURE, SPORTS AND YOUTH ORGANIZATION (ΟΠΑΝΔΑ) The International Festival of Digital Arts & New Media of Greece, Athens Video Art Festival, is a point of refer-ence for digital cultural creation and has become the most innovative entity regarding the promotion of digital cul-ture and new technologies in Greece.This year’s concept, entitled “Bringing Athens to Life”, is extremely interesting for our city, considering that the main goal of this concept is to improve the Historic and Commercial Center of Ath-ens and to integrate it in cultural acts. Artists, entities and the public are invit-ed to take a journey through the city that will present the best upcoming art-ists from the international new media art scene. This gives us the opportunity to render Athens an extraordinary, live-ly city with rich culture, thus, an impor-

Η Αθήνα μας είναι μια πόλη με πλούσια πολιτιστική και πολιτισμική κληρονομιά, την οποία πρέπει να αναδεικνύουμε με κάθε ευκαι-ρία προκειμένου ο πολιτισμός να γίνει αναπόσπαστο στοιχείο της καθημερινότητας μας και πηγή έμπνευσης για τους πολίτες και τους επισκέπτες της Αθήνας. Χρειάζονται δράσεις που θα προκαλέσουν εν- θουσιασμό και θα εμπνεύσουν ένα δημιουργικό διάλογο μεταξύ της πόλης και των κατοίκων της. Athens is a city with a great cultural heritage. We ought to make the most of every opportunity in order to promote this heritage so that culture becomes an integral part of our daily life as well as a source of inspiration for both res-idents and visitors. We are in need of acts that will trigger enthusiasm and lead to a creative dialogue between the city and its residents. We firmly believe that acts and events such as Athens Video Art Festival engage peo-ple in the city’s cultural heritage. Το Athens Video Art Festival στηρίζει τις σύγχρονες καλ-λιτεχνικές τάσεις, μέσα στο πλαίσιο του αστικού πολι-τισμού από τον οποίο προ-έκυψε. Με κύριο εργαλείο το πλούσιο πρόγραμμά του, έχει, μέσα σ’ αυτό το πλαίσιο, μια σειρά στόχων. Υποδέχε-ται projects σε επτά επίσημες κατηγορίες, συνεργάζεται με φεστιβάλ, πρακτορεία, ιδρύ-ματα και οργανισμούς διε-θνώς, ενσωματώνει την ιστο-ρία της τέχνης μέσω ειδικών αφιερωμάτων και σε παράλ-ληλες σκηνές φιλοξενεί μου-σικές διοργανώσεις. Προ-τεραιότητές του είναι: υψη-λή αισθητική των projects που παρουσιάζονται και δια-λεκτική διάδραση με τη διε-θνή καλλιτεχνική κοινότητα καθώς και με τους επισκέπτες του Φεστιβάλ.Το Athens Video Art Festival ξεκίνησε το 2005 χάρη στην πρωτοβουλία της Multitrab Productions που προσκάλε-σε πάνω από 100 video artists απ’ όλο τον κόσμο να παρου-σιάσουν τη δουλειά τους στο ελληνικό κοινό. Η πρώ-τη διοργάνωση σημείωσε επι-τυχία κι έτσι ακολούθησαν άλλες τέσσερις που πραγ-ματοποιήθηκαν στην Τεχνό-πολη του Δήμου Αθηναί-ων. Κάθε χρόνο προσθέτο-νταν από μία καινούρια κατη-γορία (2006: Installations/Video Installations; 2007: Performance Art; 2008: Web Art; 2009: Animation και Digital Image).Την τελευταία πενταετία, το AVAF είχε την τιμή να διορ-γανώσει ειδικά αφιερώμα-

τα σε μερικές από τις πιο εμβληματικές φιγούρες της σύγχρονης τέχνης: Bill Viola (2008), Bill Vorn (2009), Nam June Paik (σε συνεργασία με τα Paik Studios, 2009), Andy Warhol (σε συνεργασία με το Electronic Arts Intermix, 2010), στην επιρροή του Fluxus (2011). Επίσης, αύξησε τις συνεργασίες με ακαδημαϊ-κούς, φεστιβάλ, οργανισμούς, πρακτορεία και ιδρύματα στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Το 2010-2011, το AVAF, προ-ωθώντας την αποκέντρω-ση της καλλιτεχνικής δημι-ουργίας ταξίδεψε (AVAF on tour) σε δεκατρείς τοποθεσί-ες στην Ελλάδα (Σύρο, Λευκά-δα, Ρέθυμνο, Μυτιλήνη, Τήλο, Ορεστιάδα, Κοζάνη, Βόλο, Τρίπολη, Καλαμαριά, Άρδα, Ωροπό, Εύβοια), δημιουργώ-ντας έτσι νέες καλλιτεχνικές και εμπορικές προοπτικές σε εθνικό επίπεδο. Η έβδομη διοργάνωση του AVAF (2011 /The future is now) υπήρξε σημείο καμπής. Με τον πολυεπίπεδο πειραμα-τισμό, τις αμφίδρομες σχέ-σεις με διεθνώς σημαντι-κά καλλιτεχνικά ιδρύματα (onedotzero-adventures in motion, συμμετοχή στο πάνελ επιλογής του φεστιβάλ ψηφι-ακών τεχνών Waterman’s κ.λ.π.), τους νέους ανερχόμε-νους καλλιτέχνες (Believe the hype) και τη δεύτερη μουσι-κή σκηνή όπου καλλιτέχνες εξερευνούσαν τις δυνατότητες της ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής (Koreless, Young Montana, Paul White & The Purple Brain), ανανέωσε δυναμικά το χαρακτήρα του.

Η διοργάνωση, πιστή πάντο-τε στον πειραματισμό και τη διαρκή αυτοκριτική όπως απαιτεί η σύγχρονη τέχνη και ζωή, επέστρεψε το 2012 για όγδοη φορά. Ένα σύμπλεγ-μα κτιρίων 5000 τετραγωνι-κών μέτρων, ένα τετράγω-νο μες στο κέντρο της πόλης και μια σειρά παραδοσιακών καταστημάτων του αθηναϊ-κού κέντρου αποτέλεσαν τους χώρους που στέγασαν πάνω από 340 έργα τέχνης από 58 διαφορετικές γωνιές της γης σε μια προσπάθεια να ανα-δειχθεί η ελληνική πρωτεύ-ουσα πνεύμονας της σύγχρο-νης δημιουργικότητας καθώς και τρόπος επικοινωνίας ανά-μεσα στον κλασικό πολιτισμό και το μέλλον των τεχνών. Υπηρετώντας τις βασικές του αρχές και με πνεύμα καινο-τομίας, το φεστιβάλ φιλοξέ-νησε έργα τέχνης απ’ όλο τον κόσμο στις πέντε ενότητές του με στόχο να εξοικειώσει το κοινό με τις σύγχρονες πολι-τιστικές, τεχνολογικές και κοι-νωνικές τάσεις.



Athens Video Art Festival sup-ports contemporary artistic trends, within the frame of the urban culture out of which it originated. By using as a primary tool its diverse pro-gram, it pursues within this frame a multitude of goals. It welcomes projects in sev-en official categories, collabo-rates with festivals, agencies, institutions and organizations throughout the globe, incor-porates art history by way of special tribute shows, and in parallel stages music events. Its first priorities are: high aesthetic quality of projects shown, and dialectical inter-action with the international art community, and the Festi-val’s visitors.Athens Video Art Festival began in 2005 thanks to an initiative by Multitrab Pro-ductions that invitedmore than 100 video artists from all over the world to show their work to the Greek audience. The first show having been a success, four more shows fol-lowed that took place at Tech-nopolis of the City of Athens, each adding a new official cat-egory to those of the previ-ous one (2006: Installations/Video Installations; 2007: Per-formance Art; 2008: Web Art; 2009: Animation και Digital Image).During the last five years, AVAF has had the honor to organize special tributes to some of the most emblem-atic figures of contemporary art: Bill Viola (2008), Bill Vorn (2009), Nam June Paik (in col-laboration with Paik Studios,

2009), Andy Warhol (in collab-oration with Electronic Arts Intermix, 2010), the influence of Fluxus (2011). traditional stores of the Athe-nian downtown consisted of the spaces that hosted more than 340 artworks from 58 dif-ferent corners of our plan-et in an effort of pointing the Greek capital as a lung of con-temporary creativity as well as a way of communication between classic culture and the future of arts. The Invisibles

AnimationThe term Animation arose from the Latin verb Animare which means give life. Anima-tion is the technique of mak-ing inanimate objects or draw-ings appear to move in motion pictures or computer graphics.

Animation is the rapid dis-play of a sequence of imag-es of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of move-ment. A series of drawings are linked together, and usu-ally photographed by a cam-era. The drawings have been slightly changed between indi-vidualized frames so when they are linked and played back in rapid succession, there appears to be seam-less movement within the drawings. The final comple-ment on the visual result is no other than the use of sound, which was introduced for the first time by Walt Disney in his movie Steamboat Willie.

With the introduction of com-puters, animation took on a whole new meaning. The evo-lution of technology allows artists to produce animat-ed films made exclusively on a computer. These so called Graphic Animations use non drawn flat visual graphic material (3-D computer gener-ated characters, photographs, newspaper clippings, maga-zines etc) which are some-times manipulated frame by frame to create motion. Despite the long presence of animation in the fields of Arts, it continues to rapidly evolve and give new marks connect-ing its evolution to the evolu-tion of digital technology.

Ο όρος Animation προέκυ-ψε από το λατινικό ρήμα Animare, το οποίο σημαίνει εμφυσώ ζωή. Πρόκειται λοι-πόν για μία τεχνική όπου άψυ-χοι χαρακτήρες σχεδίων απο-κτούν ζωή μέσω της κίνησης σε ταινίες ή σε γραφικά υπο-λογιστών.

Το Animation είναι η γρήγορη παράταξη μιας σειράς εικόνων δισδιάστατων ή τρισδιάστατων έργων ή μοντέλων, με στόχο τη δημιουργία της ψευδαίσθησης της κίνησης. Μία σειρά σχεδί-ων ενώνεται και συχνά φωτο-γραφίζεται με μία κάμερα. Τα σχέδια υφίστανται ανεπαίσθη-τες αλλαγές, μεταξύ των μεμο-νωμένων καρέ έτσι ώστε όταν οι φωτογραφίες αυτές ενώνο-νται και παίζονται σε μεγάλη ταχύτητα να δίνουν την ψευδαί-σθηση της συνεχούς κίνησης των σχεδίων. An abstract meditation, inspired in part by the 17th Century Japanese screen painting by Kano Tanyu “Night Fishing with Cormorants” and by the very stark and beautiful novel of Akira Yoshimura, “Shipwrecks”. I am not telling a naturalistic story in this piece, but rather I have tried to make a work that will hold in equal reverence the spirit of the bird, the fish, and the fisherman.

Resembling a set from a disaster movie, the hotel is at odds with the serene landscape surrounding it. The characters appear to be searching for something in the hotel, perhaps for each other. We get a sense that they are trapped- or lost- in time.

Οι Εγκαταστάσεις αποτελούν ένα από τα σημαντικότερα είδη σύγχρονης τέχνης παγκοσμί-ως. Πρόκειται στην ουσία για εικαστικά ενεργοποιημένους χώρους, στους οποίους ο θεα-τής καλείται να συμμετάσχει και να τους βιώσει με όλες του τις αισθήσεις. Τα έργα αυτά γεμί-ζουν, περιβάλλουν ένα χώρο και προσκαλούν το θεατή να συμμετάσχει ενεργά σε αυτά, να τα ενεργοποιήσει για να ενεργοποιήσουν και αυτά με τη σειρά τους τον χώρο. Οι Εγκα-ταστάσεις παίζουν με τις σχέ-σεις χώρου – έργου – θεατή και βασίζονται στις σχέσεις αλλη-λόδρασης αυτών• οι θεατές μπορούν να περπατήσουν μέσα

σε μία εγκατάσταση, να την αγγίξουν και να αποδειχθούν οι ίδιοι οργανικά στοιχεία του έργου. Οι θεατές πολλές φορές καλούνται να λάβουν μέρος σε μία εικαστική εμπειρία, η οποία άλλοτε διαχωρίζεται ξεκάθα-ρα από τη ζωγραφική, τη γλυ-πτική ή την αρχιτεκτονική και άλλοτε τα όρια μεταξύ αυτών είναι δυσδιάκριτα. Η εμπειρία αυτή απαιτεί από τους θεατές να ενεργοποιήσουν ταυτόχρονα την ακοή, την όραση, την αφή ή ακόμα και την όσφρηση τους προκειμένου να βιώσουν το έργο σε όλα τα επίπεδα.

Installations are one of the most important kinds of modern art internationally. It is visually activated spac-es, where the viewer is invit-ed to participate and experi-ence through all of his senses. Those art works fill, embay a space and invite the view-er to participate in them, to activate them in order the space to be activated as well. Installations are based on the interactive relations among space, artwork and viewer; the public can walk in an installation, touch it and prove itself organic element of the work. The spectators are invited to a visual experi-

ence, which either sometimes separates itself from painting, sculpture and architecture, or the neat lines between them are elusive. Such an experi-ence demands for the view-ers to activate all of their senses in order to experience all of the different aspects of an art work.

Οι Video Εγκαταστάσεις απο-τελούν την προέκταση και την εξέλιξη των εγκαταστάσεων. Πρόκειται για Εγκαταστάσεις, στις οποίες ενσωματώνονται έργα video ανεξάρτητα ή σε συνδυασμό με άλλα μέσα (πολυμεσικές εγκαταστάσεις – multimedia installations). Μέσω των προβολών δημι-ουργούν μία περίπλοκη οπτι-κή κατασκευή, που αντιδρά με τον περιβάλλοντα χώρο και απαιτεί την αδιαμεσολά-βητη συμμετοχή του θεατή. Video προβολές και αντικεί-μενα συνδυάζονται και/ή αντι-τίθενται με σκοπό τη δημιουρ-γία μιας πολυμορφικής «πλα-στικής» εικόνας.

Video Installation is the sequence and the devel-opment of Installations. It includes videos, which are either independent or com-bined with other means (multimedia installations). Through screening, Video Installations create a compli-cated visual construction that reacts with the setting and demands for a viewer’s par-ticipation. Video screenings and objects are combined or even dissent to each other in order the creation of multi-form «plastic» image.

The film titles itself after a quote by baroque painter Michelangelo Cara-vaggio. When stopped by a gentleman before entering church, Caravaggio was offered holy water to cleanse himself of venial sins. Caravaggio would coolly reply, “That is not necessary, for my sins are all mortal.” On a can-vas, the narrative unfolds. Set in a dreamlike void, the fabula tells a tale of the desire for inspiration, the struggle with time and the ecstasy.

The spatial frame of reference between the individual elements is con-stantly broken up: simulated painting layers itself freely into the space in front or behind the picture, the image space is questioned: the wall behind the plain is moving, deriving from the real edge another edged detaches itself into a virtual new constellation.

UMA – Ultra Maratona Atlântica, is a 43km marathon passing through the sandy beaches of Tróia, a Peninsula in the south of Portugal. This coast, one of the wildest with the least human intervention in Europe, is the set for a unique competition with an impressive record of 2h 51m. A territory of rare natural beauty, with a coastline stretched along the Atlantic Ocean as far as the eye can see.

Studies for a riot Greece Στη διάρκεια του 2010, η Ελλάδα τέθηκε υπό την επίβλεψη του Διεθνούς Νομισματικού Ταμείου και της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης. Ο φόβος της φτώχειας και της οικονομικής ύφεσης, έχουν αναδείξει ένα συναίσθημα ταραχής στην κοινωνία. Οι μνήμες των κοινωνικών αναταραχών του 2008 στην Ελλάδα, σύμφωνα με τα ΜΜΕ, έχουν δημιουργήσει την αναμονή στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό, μίας νέας περισσότερο βίαιης επερχόμενης κοινωνικής αναταραχής.

During 2010, Greece came under the supervision of IMF and EU. The fear of poverty and financial recession has built up a feeling of public unrest. Memories of the Greek riots of 2008, according to the media, have created the expectation in Greece and abroad, of a new, more violent, riot to come.

Performance Art είναι η τέχνη, στην οποία μέσα σε μία έντο-να συγκινησιακά φορτισμένη ατμόσφαιρα διάφορα καλλιτε-χνικά συμφραζόμενα (ποίηση, χορός, μουσική, ζωγραφική, video) λαμβάνουν χώρα, ανα-μένοντας και εγκολπώνοντας τις αυθόρμητες αντιδράσεις του κοινού. Όταν η δράση τελειώσει δεν αναπαράγεται στο ακέραιο ποτέ ξανά. Είναι μία «γιορτή» στιγμής. «Είναι εξ’ ορισμού αμετακίνητη στο

χώρο και μη αναπαράξιμη στο χρόνο» (Allan Kaprow). Πρό-κειται για «collage Δράσεων», που σημαίνουν την «μετα-τόπιση της τέχνης από την παραγωγή αντικειμένων στην παραγωγή εμπειριών» (Άλκης Χαραλαμπίδης). Το σώμα του καλλιτέχνη γίνεται το κυρί-αρχο μέσο έκφρασης που σε συνδυασμό με την πραγμάτευ-ση του χώρου και του χρόνου προσφέρουν ένα εντυπωσια-κό και πρωτότυπο θέαμα.

Performance is an art, in which various artistic arts (poetry, dance, music, paint-ing and video) take place in an intense emotional atmos-phere, awaiting and incorpo-rating the impulsive reactions of the audience. Once a per-formance is over, it can nev-er be completely recreat-ed. It is a «celebration» of the moment. «It is by defini-tion immovable in space and non reproductive in time»

(Alan Kaprow). It is a col-lage of actions «that signify the shift of art from creating objects into creating experi-ences» (Alkis Charalambides). The artist’s body becomes the main medium of expression which, in conjucture with the discourse of space, time and audience, offers an impres-sive and original spectacle.

Μετατρέποντας τον χώρο σε ένα ατελείωτο πλέγμα το οποίο απορροφά τα πάντα, μεταμορφώνεται σε μία ολοκληρωτική εμπειρία χωρίς τη δυνατότητα διαφυγής. Το κοινό παρακολουθεί την εσωτερική κατάσταση του πλέγματος: ως μία οπτικοποίηση του επεξεργαστή και την επεξεργασία του ίδιου του πλέγματος.

The title is a play with the concept of ‘Grids’ A virtual structure, that both dominates and demands our lives to the core of our being. Combined with the fastly evolving technology and influence on our daily lives. Making the space an endless grid sucking up everything in it, becoming a totalitar-ian experience, no escaping possible. Demoralize the room. The audience watches the inner state of the grid: Like a visualization of the processor and processing of the grid itself.

Black Roots and Time Fruits 20’ 00” Greece Το Black Roots & Time Fruits είναι μία οπτικοακουστική χορευτική performance, η οποία περιέχει προβολή 3d video mapping, vjing, χορευτές κι αποκλειστική ηχητική υπόκρουση, ενώ στηρίζεται στην ιστορία της «μαύρης» μουσικής. Διαπραγματεύεται την εξέλιξη και το μετασχηματισμό αυτού του είδους μουσικής (από το gospel, το blues και τη soul ως το πειραματικό hip hop, το sampling και τη soul rap) παράλληλα με τον μετασχηματισμό του περιβάλλοντος, της ιστορίας και της αισθητικής. Το μέρος όπου το έργο εκτυλίσσεται είναι το Σικάγο ενώ οι performers χορεύουν μέσα στην πόλη… Οπότε το Σικάγο έρχεται στην Αθήνα…

Black Roots & Time Fruits is an audiovisual dancing performance. The performance contains 3d video mapping projection, vjing, live performing dancers and exclusive soundtrack. The performance is based on the history of “black” music. It negotiates the evolution and the reformation of this kind of music (from gospel, blues, soul to experimental hip hop, sampling, soul rap) along with the reformation of the environment, history and aesthetics. The place that the performance is placed is Chicago and the dancers are performing “in” that city.. So, Chicago is coming to Athens...




Fini Francesca Blind 20’ 00” Italy Το Blind είναι ένα παραστατικό πείραμα το οποίο αναμειγνύει body-art και το διαδραστικό design μαζί. Σκοπός της performance είναι να μεταφέρει το κοινό σε μία συναρπαστική διάσταση όπου η performer μετατρέπεται σε ένα εμπειρικό όχημα χρωμάτων μέσω του ήχου και της εικόνας.

Blind is a performance experiment blending together body-art and interac-tion design. The purpose of the performance is to transport the audience in an immersive dimension in which the performer becomes the vehicle of an experience of color through interactive sound and visuals.

Αποτελεί μία μεταβατική ζώνη ανάμεσα στην ατμόσφαιρα της Γης και το διαπλανητικό διάστημα. Το οπτικοακουστικό project exosphere in between ταλαντώνεται ανάμεσα σε κάτι αόριστο, εξετάζοντας τι συμβαίνει στο ανθρώπινο μυαλό ως προϊόν της ψηφιοποίησης της πραγματικότητας και της τεχνολογικής προόδου οδηγώντας στη νοητική ανισορροπία. Ο άνθρωπος αισθάνεται την έλλειψη του χώρου, του χρόνου, της υπαρξιακής αίσθησης αντιμετωπίζοντας μία κρίση ταυτότητας. Το έργο απεικονίζει τις καταστάσεις του ανθρώπινου νου εντός του πλαισίου αυτού.

Exosphere- uppermost layer of Earth’s atmosphere, with not enough oxygen to breathe. it is a transitional zone between Earth’s atmosphere and interplanetary space. Audiovisual project: exosphere in between oscillates around something unprecised, undefined, what happens to human mindszas a byproduct of the digitization of reality and technological progress and leads to mental imbalance. human feel the lack of space, oxygen, time, sense of being and have problem with identity. We are located somewhere in/between. My audio/visual project shows the states of the human mind in this context.

Πρόκειται για ένα διεπιστημονικό κομμάτι, το οποίο εκμεταλλεύεται τη σύγκλιση των διαφόρων τρόπων καλλιτεχνικής έκφρασης για τη δημιουργία ενός καινοτόμου και συνεκτικού λόγου που βυθίζει το θεατή - φέρνοντας μας στην αρχική προσέγγιση για τη γνωστή ιστορία της Κοκκινοσκουφίτσας. Το La Caputxeta Galàctica συνδυάζει: παραστατικές τέχνες, ζωγραφική, βίντεο και μουσική. Γνωρίζοντας την εξοικείωση του κοινού με τη γραπτή εκδοχή της ιστορίας των Αδελφών Grimm, οι Insec-totropics προσεγγίζουν την επανεφεύρεση αυτής της κλασσικής ιστορίας κινούμενοι πιο κοντά στην ηθικά πιο μοχθηρή εκδοχή του Charles Perrault.

La Caputxeta galàctica (Galactic Red Riding Hood) is a live multimedia perfor-mance work. It is a multi-disciplinary piece, which harnesses the conver-gence of different modes of artistic expression to create an innovative and coherent discourse that immerses the viewer – bringing us to their original approach to the well-known tale of Little Red Riding Hood. La Caputxeta Ga-làctica combines in live performance: performing arts, painting, video, music. In knowing the audience’s familiarity with the written version of the tale by the Brothers Grimm, Insectotròpics approach the re-invention of this classic by moving closer to the version by Charles Perrault - morally more sinister.

Ntogka Fransesca Immotile steps 30’ 00” Greece Ένα άτομο χωρίς φύλο, ακίνητο, σα να είναι μία αναπηρική καρέκλα, αντιμέτωπο με τον εαυτό του, δοκιμάζει τη διάρκεια και τις σκέψεις του/της. Οι σκέψεις του/της μετατρέπονται σε σκιές που προβάλλονται μπροστά του χωρίς να γνωρίζει εάν μπορεί να τις αντέξει. Roscoe Henrique Dot a videogame with no winner

30’ 00” Brazil To Dot, a videogame with no winner είναι μία οπτικοακουστική performance με ήχους συγχρονισμένους με εικόνες, η οποία «παίζεται» με μία κονσόλα παιχνιδιού που κατασκευάστηκε και προγραμματίστηκε από τον καλλιτέχνη, ενώ ο χειρσμός της γίνεται μέσω παλιών Nintendo joysticks. Το όργανο είναι πλήρως αυτόνομο και δουλεύει χωρίς την ανάγκη κάποιου ηλεκτρονικού υπολογιστή, με τη χρήση μόνο ενός projector κι ενός ηχοσυστήματος.

Dot, a videogame with no winner is an audiovisual performance with synchronized sounds and images, played by a ‘game console’ built and programmed by the artist, and controlled by retro videogame (Nintendo) joysticks. The instrument is completely autonomous and works without the need of a computer, using only a projector and sound system to play its content.

An interactive documentary project, 24-hours.in explores opportunities for participation, collaboration and the potential democratisation of documen-tary production. Utilising user-generated video captured on mobile phones and available devices, the project is participatory, with the audience contrib-uting documentary videos around the theme of 24-hours in a city.

I have always been fascinated with the banality of the everyday. Through my work, I strive to capture quiet but evocative moments that feature mundane environments and the people in my life. Having spent most of my time in both United States and Southeast Asia, I often struggle with a sense of displacement and isolation. I attempt to reconcile my peripatetic personal life into a coherent narrative using photographic still and moving images. Oncetoforever is a project that attempts to explore the changing nature of memories within the context of the cyberspace. The digitalization of experiences, brought forward by the accessibility of digital image making, and hyper connectivity, fostered by the integration of the Internet into our everyday routines are some of the themes surrounding the project. The project combines staged and documentary images to create a seemingly disparate personal essay of the people I know and the places that I have been to. Abstracted by the presence of technology and the unreliability of memory, the narratives portrayed in the project strive to reduce the details of an individual’s experience into an aesthetic experience.

Στη φετινή διοργάνωση έχου-με επενδύσει ιδιαίτερα στην ενότητα των Workshops και Roundtables, εντάσσοντας workshops που καλύπτουν

ένα μεγάλο εύρος θεμάτων και υλοποιούνται από ειδι-κευμένους εισηγητές με πρα-κτική και ακαδημαϊκή εμπει-ρία. Workshops and Roundtables is the educational block of Athens Video Art Festival. Eve-ry year, we offer a wide array of educational seminars and open discussions, offering crit-ical skills and competencies on issues related to digital arts and new media. In our 2012 edition, we have invest-ed heavily on the Workshops and Roundtables block by incorporating workshops that cover a wide range of sub-jects, delivered by specialized coaches with practical and

academical experience. More specifically, our Roundtables are open discussions over a specific topic and open partic-ipation, while the Workshops vary in character and require-ments, from 2-hour seminars to 3-day intensive workshops on advanced technologies or software.

Workshops


The Dirty Electronics 7-Segment Display designed for Athens Vid-eo Art Festival is a hand-held device for sound and light that uses multiple 7-segment LED decimal digit displays (like you get in old digital clocks). At the centre of each printed circuit board (PCB), roughly the size of a post card, there is a pseu-do screen made from clusters of 7-segment displays that gen-erates abstract patterns with corresponding sequenced sounds. The patterns are programmed or generated manually through touch control. The device also introduces the idea of compo-sition through electronics and 4-bit binary coding. The work-shop involves hands-on building and rehearsal of pieces for the device and is open to all. No prior knowledge of electronics is needed.

We look forward to opening this door for you to a new world of creativ-ity with light and images.

Modul8 / MadMapper


Sonic Sights is a project based around the use of many different innovative techniques in audio and visual field recording (both passive methods of simply capturing the sounds and images around us and new inquisitive practices). At the same time vis-ual investigations will both partner the sounds/image and add a further dimension to how we perceive and make sense of each environment. The participants will explore the exhibition space and collect material both from the happening and the surrounding buildings which are landmarks of the historic cent-er of Athens. These sessions will give participants the opportunity to have an inside view of the creative and technical process and at the same time expand their artistic views. The workshop will allow them to explore the key concepts involved and link them to hands-on experience of the innovative use of new technologies employed by the Medea Electronique members. The use of free-ware and custom software will enable participants to take home with them different technologies in order to continue explor-ing in their own time.

Το Sonic Sights αποτελεί ένα project βασισμένο στη χρήση πολ-λών διαφορετικών και καινοτόμων τεχνικών ηχογράφησης και μαγνητοσκόπησης. Ταυτόχρονα οι οπτικές έρευνες θα συνδυά-σουν τους ήχους/εικόνες και θα προσθέσουν μία επιπρόσθετη διάσταση του πώς αντιλαμβανόμαστε και συνειδητοποιούμε κάθε περιβάλλον. Οι συμμετέχοντες θα εξερευνήσουν τον εκθεσιακό χώρο και θα συγκεντρώσουν υλικό τόσο από τις εκδηλώσεις όσο κι από τα περιβάλλοντα κτίρια που αποτελούν σημεία ανα-φοράς του ιστορικού κέντρου της Αθήνας.

Τα sessions θα παρέχουν στους συμμετέχοντες την ευκαιρία να παρακολουθήσουν από κοντά τη δημιουργική και τεχνική διερ-γασία καθώς και να διευρύνουν την καλλιτεχνική τους άποψη. Το workshop θα τους επιτρέψει να εξερευνήσουν τα στοιχεία κλειδιά και να τα ενώσουν με τη χειροπιαστή εμπειρία της και-νοτόμας χρήσης των νέων τεχνολογιών από τα μέλη της Medea Electronique. Η χρήση freeware θα επιτρέψει στους συμμετέχο-ντες να «πάρουν σπίτι τους» διαφορετικές τεχνολογίες με σκο-πό να συνεχίσουν να ανακαλύπτουν τις νέες τεχνολογίες οπο-τεδήποτε.

Participants will get familiar with softwares and various tech-niques of image reproduction. By using objects from everyday life such as mobile phones, smartphones etc, they will create images that are going to be used in the context of the second part of the course for the applications that will be developed. We are going to star in stories/short films and by taking advan-tage of our ideas we are going to create our own art works.

Stop motion animationΘα εξοικειωθούμε με software και διαφορετικές τεχνικές επεξεργασίας εικόνας. Χρησιμοποιώντας αντικείμενα από την καθημερινότητα, όπως κινητά τηλέφωνα με κάμερα, smart-phones, κ.ά., στην πρώτη συνάντηση θα δημιουργήσουμε εικόνες, τις οποίες θα χρησιμοποιήσουμε στη δεύτερη συνάντηση για τις εφαρμογές που θα διδαχθούμε. Θα γίνουμε οι πρωταγωνιστές σε ιστορίες/ταινίες μικρού μήκους και, αξιοποιώντας τις ιδέες και τη φαντασία μας πάνω στο θέμα που θα δοθεί, θα δημιουργήσουμε τις ταινίες μας.


Η ευρεία διάδοση των smart phones και των πολυάριθμων εφαρμογών αποτελεί μία από τις πιο σημαντικές τεχνολο-γικές εξελίξεις των τελευταί-ων δεκαετιών. Διαφορετικές ομάδες καλούνται να μελετή-σουν, να εκμεταλλευτούν και να προσαρμόσουν στις ανά-γκες τους τις ποικιλόμορφες δυνατότητες που παρέχει αυτό το τεχνολογικό οικοσύστημα. The wide spread of smart phones and the numerous applications is one of the most important technologi-cal developments of the last decades. Different groups are invited to study, exploit and adapt to the needs of their diverse potential of this tech-nological ecosystem. The flow-ering of applications was the natural evolution of this social media, and immediacy of the element of continuity in com-munication they offered, the development of new hard-ware but also the evolution of what already existed. Applica-

tions revealed the potential solutions through virtual envi-ronments of smart phones and tablets with which mod-ern societies are accustomed, shaping a holistic understand-ing of the needs and how. From reading weather fore-casts and online booking taxi to digital photo editing, from simple games to the study of the genetic code, applica-tions through the framework of the given solutions in eve-ryday life, while turning read-ing the future in a fascinating process through interfaces as a simple mobile phone. Το Athens Video Art Festival 2012, σε συνεργασία με την Cosmote, παρουσία-σε ένα ευρύ αφιέρωμα στην τάση των mobile applications. Οι επισκέπτες πειραματίστη-καν με μία σειρά εφαρμογών, είχαν την ευκαιρία εξοικείωσης με διάφορες τεχνολογικές και-

νοτομίες ενώ πήραν μία μικρή γεύση από τις τάσεις του μέλ-λοντος. Το αφιέρωμα περιελάμ-βανε τέσσερις άξονες: Games & Fun, Music & Hobbies, Social & News, Art & Creativity, οι οποίοι αποτυπώθηκαν μέσα από εργα-στήρια, παρουσιάσεις – ομιλί-ες εκπροσώπων εταιρειών και μία εκτενή έκθεση εφαρμογών μέσα από interfaces γνωστών brands κινητής τηλεφωνίας.

Athens Video Art Festival 2012, in partnership with Cosmote, presented a wide tribute to the trend of mobile appli-cations. Guests experiment-ed with a series of applica-tions, had the opportunity of familiarity with various tech-nological innovations while they got a small taste of the trends of the future. The trib-ute included four axes: Games & Fun, Music & Hobbies, Social & News, Art & Creativity, which were depicted through workshops, presentations - speeches of representatives of companies and an exten-

Η ανάπτυξη των εφαρμογών δε θα μπορούσε να μην επηρεάσει τη σύγχρονη καλλιτεχνική έκφραση. Οι καλλιτέχνες χρησιμοποι-ούν τις αναρίθμητες δυνατότητες που αυτές προσφέρουν, είτε μέσω των λογισμικών που χρησιμοποιούνται είτε μέσω της πλατ-φόρμας ενός κινητού τηλεφώνου ως εργαλείο προς άμεση χρή-ση, σχεδιάζοντας έργα τα οποία μπορούν να μετακινούνται μαζί με τους χρήστες και να αλληλεπιδρούν μαζί τους. Music performance | Musi-Fi The development of applications could not leave unaffected the contemporary artistic expression. Artists use the numerous possibil-ities offered by apps, either through the software used or through the platform of a mobile phone as a tool for direct use by designing projects that can move with users and interact with them.The mobile apps section closed with a live performance by the innovative trio Musi-Fi. Τιμώντας τη σύγχρονη ελληνική ηλεκτρονική σκηνή, το Athens Video Art Festival 2012 παρουσιάζει ένα show υψηλών απαιτή-σεων με τον τίτλο ITS ALL GREEK, απορώντας πώς κάποιος μπο-ρεί να μείνει ακίνητος ακούγοντας αυτά τα beats. Με σκοπό την υποστήριξη των Ελλήνων καλλιτεχνών, επιλεγμένα σχήματα από το εξωτερικό θα συμπληρώσουν το πρόγραμμα με τα decks των Ambassadeurs (UK) και Warsnare (UK), ενώ τα visuals έχουν σχεδιαστεί ειδικά για την περίσταση από τους Fair Enough (US), VISITOR (UK) και Feel Good Lost (IR).

Honoring the contemporary Greek electronic scene Athens Vid-eo Art Festival 2012 presents a show of high standards under the title ITS ALL GREEK questioning how one’s senses could stay on the ground while listening to these sounds. With the aim of sup-porting Greek artists special beats from abroad will supplement the line up through the controllers of Ambassadeurs (UK) and Warsnare (UK), while visuals will be especially designed by Fair Enough (US), VISITOR (UK) and Feel Good Lost (IR).

Music


Started making beats in 2007, Mononome is a sample-based producer from Thessaloniki, Greece. His sounds could not real-ly fit into a sub-culture of sound, but instrumental Hip-Hop/Trip-Hop seems to do it justice, of course, always with a twist. Experimenting with samples from the 50’s until the late 80’s he’s always trying to blend as many tunes and grooves possi-ble when creating a song, always maintaining a jazzy element whether that’s in the fore or the background, processing all of it on analog hardware only, for the sake of true and warm sound. He is also a part of Lost in the Woods. A Trip-Hop band that con-sists on live instrumentation and vocals upon “dusty” drums and crackling samples.

Ξεκίνησε να φτιάχνει Beats το 2007, ο Mononome είναι ένας παραγωγός που βασίζεται στα samples, από την Θεσσαλονίκη. Ο ήχος του δεν μπορεί να ταιριάξει σε κάποια συγκεκριμένη μου-σική κουλτούρα ,αλλά το instrumental Hip Hop/Trip Hop φαίνε-ται να ταιριάζει πιο πολύ από οποιοδήποτε άλλο είδος. Πειραμα-τιζόμενος με samples από τη δεκαετία του 50 μέχρι τα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 80, πάντα προσπαθεί να ταιριάξει όσο το δυνα-τόν περισσότερους ήχους και ρυθμούς μέσα σε κάθε του κομμά-τι. Χρησιμοποιώντας κυρίως αναλογικά μηχανήματα ο ήχος του διατηρεί τη ζεστασιά και την ποιότητα του Βινυλίου. Είναι επί-σης μέλος των ‘’Lost in the Woods’’. Μία Trip Hop μπάντα με live φωνητικά και όργανα τα οποία μαζί με τα Beats και τα Samples δημιουργούν μία αυθεντική Trip Hop και Jazz ατμόσφαιρα.

Οι Skank a Vamp είναι μια ομάδα ατόμων που σχηματίστηκε τo 2008 ωστε να συνδυαστεί ο ηχος με οπτικό υλικό. Τα άτομα των skv στο παρελθόν ηταν μέλη σε μουσικά groups και όλοι μαζί αποτελούσαν τους sleeping pills. Μας αρέσει να χορεύουμε όταν τα μπάσα είναι δυνατά!

The Come a little closer ep in 2011 was the first official release from Brighton based Ambassadeurs. But although that was the first release that you could buy, it wasn’t his most successful. That would be M.O.P.E. the soundcloud hit with 20,000 plays and 4000 downloads which meant even before he had a record deal, he had offers to play in Amsterdam, Poland, Belgium, Germa-ny and the US, and when he played there people were sing-ing along. To a twisted vocal sample that even the original sing-er wouldn’t recognise. The south coast beat mechanic (Mark Dobson to his mum) has been quietly amassing a serious fol-lowing for his releases via his social streams bringing him to the attention of UK indie label Jalapeno who released his debut ep. Brighton scene maestros Tru Thoughts have been featuring tracks in their radio show and have commissioned a remix as have Fat Cat, Moshi Moshi and Wah Wah 45’s. So far so good, as far as getting his music noticed goes. The music – well it’s a tough one to pigeonhole but then so is all the best music. A mix-ture of hip hop, dub, jazz and electronica probably comes clos-est to a description but really you need to listen to it yourself to decide.

Ο μηχανικός ήχων της νότιας ακτής της Βρετανίας (Mark Dobson για τη μαμά του) έχει καταφέρει να συγκεντρώσει μεγάλο κοινό, το οποίο τον ακολουθεί πιστά, ενώ παράλληλα. Giganta is the third music project of Eleni Adamopoulou (Mag-nitophono, Manekinekod). Creating electronic beats, often off-beats, chopping vocals and pitching sounds, is her “superhu-man” power. Resampling is her amusing game and synth sounds conquer her world. The world of superheroes has the combina-tion of different genres, that don’t sound anymore the same. In a slightly punk way, everything seems possible.

Gdaddie (Michalis Papoulakos) is a producer of electronic music with hiphop influences, based in a mix of sounds and rhythms without strict direction to a certain kind of music, from Athens. After two short duration releases - ‘’Gone’’ (2009) and ‘’The Truth’’ (2011) in the Bulgarian Company Dusted Wax Kingdom, he released his first album ‘’Ride with Me’’ from the internet label Memory Format.

Ο GDaddie (Μιχάλης Παπουλάκος),είναι ένας παραγωγός ηλε-κτρονικής μουσικής, hiphop αισθητικής, βασισμένης σε ένα κολάζ ήχων και ρυθμών, χωρίς αυστηρό όμως προσανατολι-σμό, από την Αθήνα.Μετά από 2 κυκλοφορίες μικρής διάρκειας - “Gone” (2009) και “The Truth” (2011) στην Βουλγαρική Dusted Wax Kingdom, τον Δεκέμβριο του 2011 κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο μεγάλης διάρκειας album του με τίτλο “Ride With Me” από την διαδικτυακή ετικέτα MemoryFormat. The latest producer to emerge from the music/art melting pot that is New Cross/Goldsmiths, WARSNARE has carved out his unique sound from the remains of pop culture. Having produced soundtracks for award-winning short films and AV installations, his sound is impossible to pin down, blurring the cinematic and the downright woozy with shards of disembodied R&B, footwork and whatever else takes his fancy at the time. WARSNARE’s debut EP was released on ‘Shades of Grey’ in February and received a great response. He has remixed tracks for ‘My Tiger My Timing’, Kate Tem-pest’s ‘Sound Of Rum’ and Breton and is currently producing for singer/song writer ‘Fille De La Lune’ on her debut EP. The one con-sistent theme throughout WARSNARE’s many endeavours is that it is almost impossible to work out what he will do next.

Ο τελευταίος παραγωγός που αναδείχθηκε από το σχήμα των New Cross/Goldsmiths, ο Warsnare έχει αναπτύξει το δικό οτυ προσωπικό ήχο από τα απομεινάρια της pop κουλτούρας. Έχο-ντας συνθέσει για πλήθος βραβευμένων ταινιών μικρού μήκους και οπτικοακουστικών εγκαταστάσεων, ο ήχος του είναι αδύνα-τον να κατηγοριοποιηθεί, αφού είναι ένα μείγμα κινηματογραφι-κής μουσικής, ζαλιστικών beats, R&B και ό,τι άλλο τον εντυπω-σιάζει τη στιγμή εκείνη. Το πρώτο του EP εκδόθηκε σε συνερ-γασία με τη “Shades of Grey” και έλαβε διθυραμβικές κριτικές.

Οι Invisible Rockers Crew δημιουργήθηκαν τον Ιούνιο του 2006 με σκοπό την ύπαρξη του πρώτου ολοκληρωμένου electro funk σχήματος στην Ελλάδα με αμιγώς electro ήχο, δυνατά beats, funky μπασογραμμές, γρήγορα rap και voco-ders. Οι IRC, αποτελούνται από τους Devastator, Truant & Fr.e.s., οι οποίοι αρκετά χρόνια πριν άρχισαν να ασχολούνται με τη hip hop κουλτούρα, δίνοντας βάση στη γνώση της και δείχνοντας ιδιαίτερο πάθος στον ήχο της αυτοκρατορικής εποχής των αρχών της δεκαετίας του 80. Μέσα από ατελείωτες ώρες αναζήτησης βινυλίων, b-boying στο δρόμο και όντας στο παρελθόν μέλη άλλων συγκροτημάτων με κυκλοφορίες στο ενεργητικό τους, κατέληξαν στη δημιουργία των IRC, και παράλληλα κυκλοφόρησαν ανεξάρτητα ένα mixcd με τίτλο B-boys Revenge (The ThrowDown Mix) σε περιορισμένες κόπιες. Στις αρχές του 2009 κυκλοφόρησε το vol.5 της free download σειράς Noize Electro Hub που έχει βάση την Ολλανδία όπου εμφανίζεται ένα κομμάτι τους.

Academic PresentationThe Department of Fine Arts and Art Sciences works at the Uni-versity of Ioannina since September 2000. The Department pro-vides excellent learning opportunities through specialized under-graduate and graduate programs and offer sound knowledge in the field of visual arts (Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking), applied arts (Photography, Multimedia, Video) and their theo-retical studies.

The mission of the Department of Plastic Arts and Art Scienc-es is to cultivate and promote the visual arts in academic and applied teaching and provide students with the necessary skills that ensure complete scientific, artistic and professional careers, to educate students History and Theory of Art, the aesthetic edu-cation and the development of critical and research, through laboratory and theoretical studies of the visual arts.

The Department of Fine Arts and Art Sciences participate this year at the Athens Video Art Festival with a workshop under the guidance of the teacher Manos Katsari entitled «New Codes / Old Codes».

Is the International Video Art and Short Film Festival, which is held annually in a province not far from Kiev of Ukraine. VAU-Fest is aimed at presenting brand new trends in experimental video. It is a creative laboratory for both professional and ama-teur directors and an open platform for discussion. The prefer-ence in annual competition is given to artworks that use modern technologies and demonstrate ingenious direction, inventiveness in cinematography and original editing.

Είναι διεθνές φεστιβάλ βίντεο τέχνης και ταινιών μικρού μήκους που διοργανώνεται ετησίως σε επαρχιακή πόλη κοντά στο Κίε-βο της Ουκρανίας. Στόχο του αποτελεί η παρουσίαση της εξελι-κτικής πορείας των πειραματικών βίντεο. Πρόκειται για μια ανοι-χτή πλατφόρμα συζήτησης και ένα δημιουργικό εργαστήριο που αφορά επαγγελματίες και ερασιτέχνες σκηνοθέτες. Στον ετήσιο διαγωνισμό προτιμούνται έργα που κάνουν χρήση των σύγχρο-νων τεχνολογιών αναδεικνύοντας την ευρηματική σκηνοθεσία και την εφευρετικότητα στην κινηματογραφία και στην αρχική επεξεργασία.

VAU-Fest


Is an art event for independent artists exhibiting unconventional audio-visual art from all over the world. The festival exhibits the Permanent Video and Sound Art Collection, a continuous avail-able archive of artists that were screened at the festival. Each month a different program is composed with art from this collec-tion and streamed on the festival website.

Αποτελεί εκδήλωση για ανεξάρτητους καλλιτέχνες παρουσι-άζοντας αντισυμβατικό οπτικό-ακουστικό υλικό από όλον τον κόσμο. Στο φεστιβάλ εκθέτονται έργα βίντεο τέχνης και ήχου της μόνιμης συλλογής από το διαθέσιμο αρχείο της διοργάνωσης με καλλιτέχνες που έχουν προβληθεί σε προηγούμενες εκδόσεις του. Κάθε μήνα ένα διαφορετικό πρόγραμμα συντίθεται με έργα τέχνης από αυτή τη μόνιμη συλλογή και μεταδίδονται απευθείας στη σελίδα του φεστιβάλ.
