Texas A&M Summer Horsemanship Clinic On June 12 & 13, 2017 Atascosa County 4-H Horse Club "A.C.E.E." hosted a Texas A&M Summer Horsemanship Clinic which was open to riders of all ages and riding levels. 23 rid-ers participated in this 2-day clinic which teaches basic to advanced fundamentals of riding. Riders came from Atascosa County, as well as Medina County & Bee County. The participants were given about 15 hours of rid-ing instructions over two days on topics in-cluding the proper use of reins, legs pressure, hip and shoulder control, understanding types of bits and how to properly select the correct bit for a horse ; as well as thoroughly under-

standing the mechanics of each gait a horse moves: the Walk, Trot, and Lope. Many riders learned for their first time how to correctly get their horse to move at the Lope and in the correct lead. ACEE had several local sponsors and wishes to thank the following for their support: Vrana Feed & Seed, Cattlemans Vet Supply & Free Flo Feeds, Ranchscapes, Rakowitz Engineering, Atascosa County Republican Party, Brush Country Re-publican Women, United Country Real Estate--South Texas Lands and Lazy 2 Ranch Equestrian Cen-ter. Without the generous support of these local sponsors, and several private donors, this great Horseman-ship Clinic would not have been possible. Thank you to all who participated and helped make it a successful event for our Atascosa County 4-H Horse Club "A.C.E.E.". Check out our Facebook page for more infor-mation or contact Karen Harris for details about joining A.C.E.E. Our next club meeting will be held on Sep-tember 24th. Call Karen at 830-570-9222 for more information.
