At the Library West Nyack Free Library Dear Library Patrons, We were so fortunate to have had our most successful summer to date with our highest number of Summer Reading participants ever. Over 200 children, 40 teens and almost 90 adults participated in our summer festivities. Thank you for making our summer a great success! A special thanks to our Friends Group, library volunteers, and all of the local businesses and organizations that provided us with programs, prizes and support. Just in time for Fall we are very excited to offer a streaming digital video player (Roku) for checkout to our cardholders. We've preloaded a number of channels for you to enjoy in the privacy of your own home. See our website for more information: www.westnyacklib.org. We've also recently created a "What's New" section on the site to show you our hottest and latest additions to the collection. Let us know what you think. SAT vs. ACT: Which Test Should You Take?

Saturday, September 13 at 11 AM

Kaplan will be hosting a free SAT/ACT combo class

to help you decide which test is right for you.

Participants will receive a complete analysis of their

results via email.

Open to all students in grades 7 - 12. Join us for the

first meetings of the school year and see how you can

earn community service hours while helping the

library. New members are always welcome!

Teen Read Week - Turn Dreams Into Reality

We encourage all teens to come help us celebrate

Teen Read Week by reading and using the library this

week. A surprise gift will be given to all teens caught

reading or using the library. They will also be eligible

for an entry into our grand prize drawing.

Certification Program for Babysitters

Tuesday, November 4, Monday, November 10

&

Tuesday, November 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 PM

This 3 session workshop taught by a nurse, police

officer and volunteer fireman provides expert

guidance on health and safety issues. Participants

must be 12 years of age or older and attend all three

classes to receive a certificate from the Rockland

County Office of Fire & Emergency Services.

Registration begins October 14.

Wire-Wrapped Beaded Bracelet Workshop

Monday, December 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM

Learn how to make a beautiful wire-wrapped beaded

bracelet in this beginner friendly class taught by

Nancy Lenore. You will be working with beads,

wire, pliers and learn how to make your own clasp.

Materials will be provided.

L’Aura Hladik Hoffman will give a presentation based on her investigations of haunts in New Jersey and The Big Apple. Registration begins October 1. Millionaires’ Row on the Palisades Wednesday, October 22 at 7 PM Eric Nelsen of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission will give us a photographic tour of the

grand estates along the palisades from the civil war

through the Great Depression. He will bring the

stories of the lavish homes, families and servants

Library Budget Vote Wednesday, December 10, 2014

9:00 AM to 9:00 PM

(Snow date: Wednesday, December 17, 2014)

Eligible voters are residents of the Clarkstown Central School

District. The library will provide the information you need to be

an informed voter.

A copy of the proposed budget will be available to residents of

the community three weeks prior to the vote.

Members of the community are invited to attend a public

hearing on the budget proposal on Tuesday, November 25, 2014

at 8:00 PM at the West Nyack Free Library.

Patrons who have voted in any annual or special election

during the past four years are automatically registered to vote.

For all others, registration will take place from 8:30 AM to 3:30

PM at the Clarkstown Central School District Clerk’s

Office, Chestnut Grove Administration Center, 62 Old

Middletown Road, New City, NY 10956.

Crafts and Workshops

Open Knitting and Crocheting Sessions:

Wednesdays, from 7 PM to 8:45 PM

Adults and teens over 14 with any level

of expertise are welcome on any

that the library is open.

Origami Club

We meet one Saturday each month from

10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Everyone over six is

welcome, but children under 11 must be

accompanied by an adult who stays. Join us

for paper-folding fun on September 13,

October 11, November 8, December 13 and

January 10.
