From the late 1950s, cooperation between the ILO and the then European Communities has developed, intensifying over the last 20 years with frequent high-level meetings and mutual consultation on a broad range of issues. Most recently, EU-ILO collaboration focused on the challenges posed by the so-called 4th Industrial Revolution: automation, digitalisation of production and consumption and the diffusion of artificial intelligence in the workplace. The study provided by Policy Department A takes stock of this very beneficial cooperation and will provide the basis on which our Committee will focus its work when considering the right responses to the social cost of technological change.
