10th Anniversary Catalog and Show Schedule

In 1810, John Jacob Astor sent out two parties, one by land and one by sea, to form a fur trading post on the West Coast. This was to be the basis of a global fur trading empire. The daring pioneers on this mission became known as Astorians and eventually made it to the West Coast to establish Astoria. The land-based Astorians crossed through Wyoming on this mission and there are many landmarks around our area that still bear the Astoria name.

Like those of the Astor parties, I’ve always referred to the artists we represent as Astorians – artistic pioneers dedicated to the pursuit of mastery in their trade and willing to dedicate their lives towards achieving it.

Just as it was of great importance for Astor to find the most qualified and respected prospects to fill his positions, I too set out to find the very best fine artists working today. The artists featured in these pages comprise one of the highest concentrations of museum-held and national award-winning artists that can be found anywhere. They are the best of the best, and I’m honored to represent them.

I hope you enjoy this catalog of fine artwork, which has been specially curated to include both contemporary and historical masters – including works by the likes of Frederic Remington and Carl Rungius.

Joshua Tobey’s fame as a master of patina is nothing new, however he has utilized these talents to add an exciting new artform to his portfolio. Using patinas, Josh has created a contemporary, 3-dimensional wall sculpture, the equivalent of bronze “paintings”. Josh sculpts the main relief and then patinas the bronze plate background. These wall-mounted reliefs are one-of-a-kind originals.
