UCW NEWS

Our next meeting is on January 16th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in ‘the Parlour’. We hope as many ladies as possible will come out as we have a team of two coming to talk about “The Diabetes Epidemic.” I have heard them already and they are interesting speakers with lots of information. There will be a question period too. Mark it on your calendar!

Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year!

MEETING ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. COUNCIL MEETING - Wed., January 9th, 2019, 6:30 p.m. @ The Friends 2. BUILDING TEAM MEETING - Mon., Jan. 14th, 2019, 7:00 p.m., White Pine Parlour 3. CONGREGATIONAL MEETING - Sun., Jan. 27th, 2019, immediately following worship. We will not be able to have the books done & ready for this date, but we do have other issues which we need the Congregation’s wisdom and ratification on before we can move forward with them. One item will be our leaking roof; another is a proposed structure for church governance which will clarify the role of Mary Street Centre in the overall scheme of things; and then we will have an update from the Building Team. A Congregational meeting allows us to communicate with the whole Congregation, and allows them to give the leadership some direction for the New Year. We will have to have a shorter meeting to accept the Financial Statements when they are completed, probably by the end of February.

After asking Rev. Monica, on several occasions, to ask the Congregation to pray for family members and friends at Sunday Services, it was suggested that we add a ‘Prayer Corner’ to our weekly Bulletin Announcements . . . and so here it is! If anyone would like to have the Congregation pray for family, friends or loved ones, please let Sandra know in the office. She will only print what you request, and nothing more. THE POWER OF PRAYER has been

demonstrated over and over again. Alone I am weak; TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG!

THIS WEEK’S PRAYER REQUESTS: 1. Sandra would like to ask that you continue prayers for her brother, David. After 15 years of being absent due to addictions & mental health, David was reunited with his sister and brother for a Christmas Dinner this year. YOUR PRAYERS HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE!!! 2. Sandra would also like to ask that you pray for her good friend, Anita Bunt, and her two grandchildren, who are burying their daughter/mother (Shirley) tomorrow. Shirley passed away on Jan. 2nd, 2019 of breast/bone cancer.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVING KINDNESS

GRIEVING TOGETHER Monica will be running a grief group for people who have experienced a major life loss and would like some support moving forward with their lives. This group will meet on Mondays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for eight weeks. This process, which is based on the Hospice Model, is cumulative, so people would plan to be at all eight (8) sessions if at all possible. The group will be restricted to ten (10) participants, so please let Monica or Sandra know if you are interested in participating. The last group will meet on April 15th, 2019 (Holy Week).
