Thank you for being a Lake Junaluska Associate! To be an Associate means that your household makes an annual charitable gift of $250 or more towards the mission and ministry of Lake Junaluska. Thank you for being one of over 400 households who contribute each year so that Lake Junaluska continues to thrive as a place of Christian hospitality. Because of your generosity, lives are transformed and souls are renewed through programming, worship, fellowship, recreation and so much more. Just a few short weeks ago, we gathered for Associates Weekend here at Lake Junaluska. Associates Weekend is an annual celebration weekend where faithful donors come together to celebrate the mission of Lake Junaluska, experience the impact of our ministries and to dream about how to best live into our mission and vision for years to come. Throughout the weekend, we enjoyed table fellowship, sang songs of praise, reunited with lifelong friends, listened to transformative music, swapped stories of the past, introduced ourselves to newcomers, celebrated the impact of youth ministry, remembered our loved ones, shared words of encouragement and gratitude, played together on the golf course, prayed together for this sacred place and generously of-fered our resources to support family ministry initiatives here at Lake Junaluska. Wow, what a weekend! In the coming months, we will be sending out information about Associates Weekend 2020 and hope you will make plans to attend. Thank you for investing in the mission and ministry of Lake Junaluska so that all who visit have the opportunity to encounter the transformative power of God’s renewing grace. FAMILY MINISTRY INITIATIVES!

During Associates Weekend, attendees heard from Rev. Mitzi Johnson, Director of Programming, about the impact of youth ministry over the past year. She also described Lake Junaluska’s aspiration is to imple-ment shared experiences for both individuals and families that celebrate faith, recreation, arts and educa-tion.

Building on the success of outreach to youth, Associates were then invited to support family ministry ini-tiatives that are being planned for 2020 and beyond. The goal of this family ministry initiative is to strengthen family relationships, provide meaningful intergenerational experiences and nourish spiritual formation.

A generous donor had pledged a matching gift up to $10,000 for donations received during the weekend. Associates not only reached $10,000 in charitable gifts and pledges over the weekend, but exceeded that goal!

Lake Junaluska Brick Walk

A wonderful way to honor or remember a family member or friend is to place their name on a brick. The cost is only $100 per brick. For more infor-mation, please contact Melissa Aldridge, Assistant Director of Development at (828) 454-6680 or maldridge@lakejunaluska.com.

During Associates Weekend 2019, Irene Gattis of-fered this prayer during our Brick Dedication:

“Holy and generous God— you call us by name and invite us into the life of faithfulness and obedience. We thank you that you have put it into the hearts of your people to make gifts for your service. We dedi-cate these bricks as tokens of the breaking dawn every day on these inspired and transforming grounds. We honor those named who are still among us. We remember in our hearts those who have joined the communion of saints. These names are inscribed in fired clay— the very stuff of the earth. May these names be an inscription to all who come this way. And may our eyes be opened to your holy presence now and always. May all gathered here say Amen.”
